the Cross
Heb 12:2-3

of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and
faint in your minds.
Luke 9:23
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come
after me, let him deny himself, and take up his
cross daily, and follow me.
Rom 4:25
25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was
raised again for our justification.
Rom 5:1-2
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace
with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the
glory of God.
Isa 53:5-6
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities: the
chastisement of our peace was upon him; and

Rom 5:20-21
20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might
abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much

21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so
might grace reign through righteousness unto

Rom 6:1-2
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in
sinthe offence of the law, that grace peace with God may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin offence
of the law, live any longer therein?
Rom 6:3-4
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized
into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Death of the flesh (1Pet 3:18)
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into
death of the flesh: that like as Christ was raised up from
the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also
should walk in newness of life.

4. John 20:16-17
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned
herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is
to say, Master.
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am
not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my
brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my
Father, and your Father; and to my God, and
your God.
1st thing after resurrection He is on a mission.
2nd thing is encouragement for the body.
After time with the Father he returns with a message…
John 20:27
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy
finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither
thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not
faithless, but believing.
3rd it is a personal message with one goal in mind
(faith, believing).
How it could and should have gone down for the
disciples:

Rom 7:1
1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that
know the law,)
The old man’s boss = Law
how that the law hath dominion over a man as long
as he liveth?
Law is boss till death do us part (marriage)
Rom 7:2
2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound
by the law to her husband so long as he liveth;
(female) soul is joined to the flesh & subject
to law till death

6. but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the
law of her husband.
If the flesh is dead the soul from the rules of
the husband (law)
Rom 7:3
3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be
married to another man, she shall be called an
adulteress:
Before the flesh is put to death the sould is
subject to “boss law”, If she (the soul) serves
another she is an Adulteress.

but if her husband be dead, she is free from that
law;
When middle management is gone the
woman is a free-agent in need of New
management.
so that she is no adulteress, though she be married

7. The woman is never single, the only question
is: Is she an Adulteress or not?
Rom 7:4
4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead
to the law by the body of Christ;
Something died & something didn’t; Christ
killed something “the body of sin,
condemned sin the flesh’
The soul is still alive (in need of new
management.
that ye should be married to another, even to him
who is raised from the dead,
Death is divorce of the ‘old man’ to make a
legitimate marriage to a New Man.
that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
The purpose of marriage is to “Reproduce”
more subjects for the boss (not the husband).
A Christian brings forth fruit with Christ to God.
Rom 7:6
6 But now we are delivered from the law,

8. The employment for ‘boss law’ is terminated
because…
that
the husband (flesh)
being dead wherein we were held;
held= a marriage contract only terminated at
death of one party.
that we should serve in newness of spirit,

and not in the oldness of the letter.

Rom 7:7
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin?
Law didn’t force you to disobey, sin is
exposed by disobedience to the law
God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin,

9. but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the
law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
He still would have had lust, but the law
prohibited it; the law imparted knowledge,
thanks to Eve and the serpent.
Gen 3:5
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat
thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye
shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
The law gives knowledge but, not power.
Rom 7:12
12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment
holy, and just, and good.
There was nothing wrong with the old boss,
the problem was the lack of a good employee.
Rom 7:14-15
14 For we know that the law is spiritual:
Holiness, justice, and goodness are spiritual
things….
But when obeying flesh (the physical) you
can only produce physical things.

10. but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Natural man is physical, in a marriage contract
with the flesh.
“Sold under sin” must pay for offending boss law.
15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would,
that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
As hard as the soul tries it can’t obey something
spiritual because it is married to something
physical.
Rom 7:18
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,)
dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with
me; but how to perform that which is good I find
not.
Rom 7:24
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me
from the body of this death?
There is no way out of the penalty due to
boss law, unless someone can pay it for you;
but then that person would have to be
without sin or his death would only count for
himself.

11. Rom 8:1
1 There is therefore now no condemnation death penalty
to them which are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
No longer obeying the old husband because we
have a new one.
Rom 8:2
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath
made me free from the law of sin and death.
New boss is still named law, but it’s new and
improved; this one is not concerned with death (we
have passed from death); it is the law of SPIRIT of
LIFE in CHRIST JESUS.
Rom 8:3-4
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak
through the flesh,
The problem with the old man was not his
rules but our weak flesh, so…
God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful
flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

12. Jesus could make and end of “old boss law”
by living in the flesh and never offending the
law.
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled
in us,
There was a great benefit to obeying the law: it
pleased God and was an exercise in Holiness,
justice, and goodness (7:14).
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
We are no longer married to the flesh, our
new marriage is to the one who obeyed the
law (the Spirit of life in Christ) so we get the
benefits he earned.
We have a new allegiance our walk, physical is
directed by the Spirit not flesh.
Rom 8:9-10
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so
be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.
New marriage was according to the law,
death ended it.
Rom 6:3

13. 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were
baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into
his death?
1Cor 12:13
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one
body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether
we be bond or free; and have been all made to
drink into one Spirit.
9 …Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he
is none of his.
Flesh trying to obey the law is an old man trying
to be a replacement for Jesus Christ.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead
because of sin;
2Cor 5:21
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who
knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him.
but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
We never have to worry about the new husband
dying.
Rom 6:9-10

14. 9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the
dead dieth no more; death hath no more
dominion over him.
10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once:
but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
