Danny’s Story
• On May 12, 1998, Danny Keysar
pulled to a stand in his portable
crib and the top rail collapsed
around his neck, killing him.
• Danny was the 12th child to die
from cribs of the same design.
• To date 19 children have died
from cribs of this design.

standard cannot be sold, donated or

event of a recall.

• In 2016, no deaths were reported prior to a manufacturer issuing a
recall on a children’s product.
• Crib recalls are very rare and making mandatory standards has
reduced injuries in some categories.
• Almost all durable infant and toddler products are covered by a
strong mandatory standard.
• CPSIA required a pace of two new mandatory standards every six
months. Only a few categories of products remain.

• Know that recalled products cannot legally be
sold.
