โThis bill represents the most
significant improvements to
product safety since Congress
created the CPSC in the
1970โs. This reform is much
needed, long overdue and
necessary to ensure that
CPSC can successfully ensure
the safety of consumer
products.โ

โAfter Danny died, many people
asked why the original owner
hadn't sent in the registration
card. The only problem is that
there was no registration card
included with this product. Why
arenโt manufacturers required to
include registration cards,
especially for durable childrenโs
products like cribs? If they had
done so, my son would be alive
today.โ

What did the CPSIA and Dannyโs
Law do for safety?
11. Your Logo or Name Here
Dannyโs Law
โข Mandatory standards for infant and
toddler products must be developed
โข Durable infant and toddler products
must be tested to a strong
mandatory standard
โข Cribs that donโt meet the strong new
standard cannot be sold, donated or
used in child care facilities or hotels.
โข Established product registration
requirements for durable childrenโs
products to notify families in the
event of a recall.

Childrenโs products
must be

tested prior to sale
Consumers have
access to a new
online database to
read about and
report on unsafe
products

SaferProducts.gov
โข CPSC launched their
database which allows
users to search for
product recalls and
submit product related
injury reports
โข Since 2011 over 36,000
reports have been
published regarding
unsafe products.

โข Incidents, injuries and deaths are declining
โข In 2016, no deaths were reported prior to a manufacturer issuing a
recall on a childrenโs product.
โข Crib recalls are very rare and making mandatory standards has
reduced injuries in some categories.
โข Almost all durable infant and toddler products are covered by a
strong mandatory standard.
โข CPSIA required a pace of two new mandatory standards every six
months. Only a few categories of products remain.
