This document compares the construction of three different towel brands - Better Homes & Gardens, Wamsutta, and Noble Excellence. It was hypothesized that construction costs would be similar since all towels were 100% cotton. The towels were evaluated based on construction, cost, sizing, and labeling. After 10 washes, all towels failed to meet original size standards. Production costs ranged from $4.13 to $4.91 per towel. While all towels had similar stitching, Better Homes & Gardens had an extra row of stitching. Overall, Better Homes & Gardens was found to have the best value and construction for the price.

Our thermally modified ecological decking is available in different wood species and
different sizes. With a total thickness of 21 to 28 mm, the strength of the decking is high.
Due to the modification, the sensibility of our exterior parquet to changes in moist and
temperature are reduced to the very minimum; the lifetime of the parquet is prolonged.

Quality may define as the level of acceptance of goods or services. It is a relative term. It completely depends on customer satisfaction. Actually product quality is based on product attribute. In textile and apparel industry, quality is calculated in terms of quality and standard of fibres, yarns, fabric construction, colour fastness, designs and the final finished garments.

Based in Southern California, David Raminfard serves as president of KasLen Textiles, which offers clients fabrics of a wide range of styles and types, with uses from drapery to upholstery. One quality differentiator among the products David Raminfard distributes is thread count, which describes density of threads within a square inch of fabric.
In essence this is a measure of tightness of weave, as it calculates the total of widthwise (weft) and lengthwise (warp) threads within a given area of fabric. A 200 thread count fabric will have 100 weft threads and 100 warp threads within each square inch.
In practice, thread count is often secondary to quality of yarn in defining the comfort of the fabric. With sheets, higher thread count sheets tend to feel softer and offer a more comfortable sleeping experience. A plain-weave sheet is typically in the 180-200 thread count range, while average sateen weave sheets are in the 250-300 range.
Keep in mind that quality sheets can be within a 200 to 800 thread count range, depending on the yarn used, weave type, and production process,. Accounting for all these factors, a thread count of 400 may provide the ideal combination of softness and breathability. Once in the 600-800 range, airflow may become stifled which create a heavier and warmer fabric.
Cost of woven fabric is the main concern of a garment merchandiser.Costing is a very complex procedure, with set patterns and guidelines followed by the industry, and it is difficult to find out costs for every process as there are some inbuilt costs while costing. Woven fabrics are used worldwide for many applications like apparel, home
furnishing, and accessories, industrial and medical textiles. It is estimated that the global production of woven fabrics will grow 35 million tones by 2010 and most
of this growth will be in Asia. It is also estimated that Asia will emerge as the biggest market for sourcing of fabrics for the garment and apparel industry. Costing of woven fabrics for garment manufacturers is one of the most important aspects of garment production. About 65 - 70% cost of the garment is the cost of the fabric and hence, it is very crucial to get the right cost of the fabric from fabric
manufacturers and suppliers.
This project involved bringing together two industries that rarely intersect at any point: waste paper and warm clothes. It re-imagines the end-use of waste paper, beyond just recycling. It proposes re-purposing the cellulose in that paper, processing it and using it as the lining in warm clothing. This results in creating a closed loop, saving on raw material costs and a highly effective, yet underutilized insulator being put to good use.

Cotton is a natural fibre available easily and abundant quantity. It is a most suitable fibre for textile spinning & clothing due to it’s good spinnability & human friendly characteristics. As cotton is a natural fibre hence it’s properties also affected with several other factors which create variation in fibre properties, these variations also affect spinning processes & it’s products Quality in multi dimensions. Each fibre characteristic impact individually and collectively on spinning process or at ultimate product quality. Revolutionary changes observed in last two decade in the field of spinning machineries where processing speeds greatly increased to enhance production rate. Not only production rate of spinning machines increased but speeds of it’s downstream processes also increased simultaneously which requires better quality of yarn for smooth process and without any interruption to get the maximum efficiency. Hence now it is most important to co-relate fibre properties with respect to it’s consumer process competency. In this article we will discuss the different cotton properties and it’s impact on spinning process and product quality in present prospective and will try to minimize the impact of poor fibre properties on process or product Quality through better Mixing plan selection.
2. PURPOSE
The purpose of this project was to compare similar products
of different brands and price points to determine and
differences based on construction.
3. HYPOTHESIS
• Based on country of origin of each towel the construction cost will be similar.
• Since the fiber content is 100% cotton for each towel, we predicted that each towel
would have similar shrinkage.
4. PROCEDURE
The towels were evaluated on construction, cost and size.
The construction of each towel was evaluated by looking at the materials used, seam types
and the number of seams.
The construction of each towel was evaluated before and after ten washes and comparted
to the standard set by the manufacturer.
The cost of each towel was evaluated based on materials, trimmings, labor, packaging,
duties/taxes and indirect cost. Material cost was found at the wholesale price of fabric by
yard. Labor rates per country were found, packaging cost were calculated by towel and
duties/taxes were found by using HTS schedule for duties. Indirect cost was found by
adding the material, trimming, labor, packaging an duties/taxes cost total multiplied by
the U.S. average indirect cost.

9. ANALYSIS
Performance of towels is affected by several factors including size, price and construction. The performance
and structure of the Better Homes & Garden, Wamsuttta and Noble Excellence are all similar, despite the
retail price of Better Home & Garden priced at $4.93, Wamsutte at $14.99 and Noble Excellence $20.00.
Two of the brands, Better Homes & Gardens and Wamsutta did not meet industry standards for sizing
before being laundered. Noble Excellence exceeded sizing for industry standards before laundered. After ten
washes, all of the towels failed to meet standard size set by the manufacturer of each towel.
The final production cost of Better Homes & Gardens is $4.13, Wamsutta at $4.80 and Noble Excellence at
$4.91. The reasons for difference in cost is packaging used between the different brands of towels. Better
Homes & Gardens had the least cost for packaging and Noble Excellence on he other hand, had the highest
cost for packaging.
Construction specifications of all towels had a lockstitch seam with an edge finish (300 EF-1). The only
construction difference between the towels was found in Better Homes & Gardens. That brand had a second
line of stitching lengthwise of the towel.
10. CONCLUSION
All three towels are 100% cotton and each were constructed similar. All three brands
did not meet industry standards for sizing. The best overall towel for shrinkage was
Noble Excellence. Based on production cost and retail pricing, Better Homes &
Gardens had the best value with only a $0.80 mark up in price. The overall
construction is similar when looking at seams. The only difference between the towels
was in the Better Homes & Gardens towel had two rows of stitching lengthwise of the
towel. In conclusion, the best towel for price and construction is Better Homes &
Gardens.
