A data visualization approach to peer identification
This paper aims to define a group of institutions based on IPEDS data for use in making comparisons in the CUPA salary benchmarking system. This group should have similar qualities in terms of financial and size characteristics, but should be large enough to provide sufficient coverage of the disciplines in the CUPA benchmarking system. A group of institutions was defined that were fairly similar on several measures of institutional size and financial circumstance. The final group defined through this process was also more reasonable in terms of Carnegie and regional representation than the overall CUPA population.
Texas S Ta R Chart
The Texas STaR Chart measures schools' progress toward technology goals outlined in the state's long-range technology plan. It assesses four key areas: teaching and learning, educator preparation and development, leadership and infrastructure. Caraway Intermediate has made overall improvements since 2006 but needs to focus on using technology more in classrooms and strengthening leadership's role in technology integration through staff development.
Cypress Star Chart

However, many centers have insufficient integration with national agricultural research systems and low coverage of domestic publications. This webinar covers three emerging themes in life science publishing, which will begin to influence the way in which the agricultural researchers share and access knowledge:
Faster dissemination: Publishing scientific articles is often a lengthy process, taking several months or even years from first submission. This prevents the research community and others from being able to act on new knowledge quickly, which is especially serious in emergency situations such as emerging infectious diseases. This webinar will cover two ways of tackling publication delays: preprint servers and post-publication peer review platforms.
Increased access & transparency: Open Access has helped remove access barriers to a vast body of scientific knowledge. Other important research outputs that have historically been difficult to access are starting to be published more frequently such as replications, data, code and referee reports.
Assessment of research: Researches are assessed by their publication record. Journal title and Impact Factor tend to be the default assessment criteria, though there is growing awareness of the disadvantages of these approaches, and alternative measures of quality and impact are gaining ground.

AGRIS is the International System for Agricultural Science and Technology. It is supported by a large community of data providers, partners and users. AGRIS is a database that aggregates bibliographic data, and through this core data, related content across online information systems is retrieved by taking advantage of Semantic Web capabilities.
This webinar will present AGRIS international initiative and partnership in the usage of AGRIS bibliographic data as a gateway to enable researchers and policy makers to retrieve agricultural and scientific information. The end-user based webinar will explain the basic fundamentals of AGRIS, overview the AGRIS interface, and how users can initiate their searches using both the simple and advanced search functionalities. Wi-Fi is a wireless networking technology that uses the 802.11 standard developed by IEEE to allow for wireless local area network computer communication in public spectrum bands. Securing wireless networks is important and can be done by securing all wireless devices and educating users, actively monitoring the network for weaknesses, and using stronger security protocols like WPA2 instead of the deprecated WEP. While SSL encryption provides some security, public Wi-Fi connections can still be intercepted using man-in-the-middle attacks, so using a VPN service or SSH tunneling can further improve security when connecting over unknown networks.
How can you contribute to AGRIS?
This document provides information about contributing bibliographic data to AGRIS, a database containing over 7 million references related to agricultural research. It outlines the benefits of publishing data in AGRIS such as becoming part of a global network and increased access and visibility without giving up content rights. The steps for joining AGRIS include checking topic coverage, metadata formats, and vocabulary requirements. Methods for acquiring and providing metadata like AgriMetaMaker, Mendeley, AgriDrupal and AgriOcean DSpace are described. Common mistakes to avoid and a registration process are also detailed.

Kai Net From Project To Network
KAINet began as a pilot project in 2006 and has expanded into a national agricultural information network in Kenya. The project was implemented in four phases: 1) Planning and consensus building, 2) Developing strategies, 3) Building capacity and institutional repositories, 4) Establishing the national repository and promoting KAINet. Key achievements include strengthened partnerships, development of five institutional repositories, and the creation of a framework and strategy to guide KAINet. Challenges included differing priorities between institutions and limited resources. Lessons learned highlight the importance of partnerships, planning, and knowledge sharing for sustainable information networks.

AGRIS is the International System for Agricultural Science and Technology. It is supported by a large community of data providers, partners and users. AGRIS is a database that aggregates bibliographic data, and through this core data, related content across online information systems is retrieved by taking advantage of Semantic Web capabilities.
This webinar will present AGRIS international initiative and partnership in the usage of AGRIS bibliographic data as a gateway to enable researchers and policy makers to retrieve agricultural and scientific information. The end-user based webinar will explain the basic fundamentals of AGRIS, overview the AGRIS interface, and how users can initiate their searches using both the simple and advanced search functionalities. Wi-Fi is a wireless networking technology that uses the 802.11 standard developed by IEEE to allow for wireless local area network computer communication in public spectrum bands. Securing wireless networks is important and can be done by securing all wireless devices and educating users, actively monitoring the network for weaknesses, and using stronger security protocols like WPA2 instead of the deprecated WEP. While SSL encryption provides some security, public Wi-Fi connections can still be intercepted using man-in-the-middle attacks, so using a VPN service or SSH tunneling can further improve security when connecting over unknown networks.
How can you contribute to AGRIS?
This document provides information about contributing bibliographic data to AGRIS, a database containing over 7 million references related to agricultural research. It outlines the benefits of publishing data in AGRIS such as becoming part of a global network and increased access and visibility without giving up content rights. The steps for joining AGRIS include checking topic coverage, metadata formats, and vocabulary requirements. Methods for acquiring and providing metadata like AgriMetaMaker, Mendeley, AgriDrupal and AgriOcean DSpace are described. Common mistakes to avoid and a registration process are also detailed.

KAINet began as a pilot project in 2006 and has expanded into a national agricultural information network in Kenya. The project was implemented in four phases: 1) Planning and consensus building, 2) Developing strategies, 3) Building capacity and institutional repositories, 4) Establishing the national repository and promoting KAINet. Key achievements include strengthened partnerships, development of five institutional repositories, and the creation of a framework and strategy to guide KAINet. Challenges included differing priorities between institutions and limited resources. Lessons learned highlight the importance of partnerships, planning, and knowledge sharing for sustainable information networks.

The output of research in the form of a proceeding published through a national seminar or an international conference has become a routine activity performed by lecturers as a researcher. The escalating atmosphere of disseminating the results of a study is directly proportional to the increasing number of universities, associations, or non-educational institutions organizing either a national seminar or an international conference. Each seminar organizer posts their seminar relevant information through official sites released by each organizer. However, to date, there has never been storage that can compile all the information pertinent to all national seminars held in Indonesia. This situation has resulted in the search done by search engines such as Google, Yahoo Search, Bing and others have not been efficient nor effective. Design of a web-based national seminar alert system is built to address this issue. This information system can display all the seminars held in Indonesia in the current year in storage and can be broken down based on the choices of topic, location, and date. Other additional facilities are that the application can send email messages to the application users as an early warning on the upcoming national seminar. Researchers can track each existing national seminar and always up-todate on the most current national seminar.

The foundation of GLIS is the accurate identification of the PGRFA to which the information is associated. But the removal of paywalls and restrictive licencing are not the only issues that need to be tackled; unnecessary delays to publication, irreproducible findings, publication biases, and poor access to underlying data and code also need to be addressed. This is especially important in agriculture and nutrition research where quick, unrestricted access to knowledge is crucial to solving urgent issues including food security, biodiversity conservation, and emerging infectious diseases in crops and animals.
This webinar will cover how the novel approaches taken by the publication venue Open Knowledge in Agricultural Development (OKAD) and the publishing platform it is hosted on, F1000Research, are addressing these issues. OKAD publishes academic articles, posters and slide presentations involving open knowledge projects within all areas of agriculture, nutrition and agro-biodiversity. With more and more thesauri, classifications and other knowledge organization systems being published as Linked Data using SKOS, the question arises how best to make them available on the web. While just publishing the Linked Data triples is possible using a number of RDF publishing tools, those tools are not very well suited for SKOS data, because they cannot support term-based searching and lookup.
This webinar presents Skosmos, an open source web-based SKOS vocabulary browser that uses a SPARQL endpoint as its backend. It can be used by e.g. libraries and archives as a publishing platform for controlled vocabularies such as thesauri, lightweight ontologies, classifications and authority files. The Finnish national thesaurus and ontology service Finto, operated by the National Library of Finland, is built using Skosmos.
Skosmos provides a multilingual user interface for browsing and searching the data and for visualizing concept hierarchies. The user interface has been developed by analyzing the results of repeated usability tests. All of the SKOS data is made available as Linked Data. A developer-friendly REST API is also available providing access for using vocabularies in other applications such as annotation systems.
We will describe what kind of infrastructure is necessary for Skosmos and how to set it up for your own SKOS data. We will also present examples where Skosmos is being used around the world.

To help reaching the Sustainable Development Goals, CGIAR must tap into Big Data. Within the programme on Climate Change for Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), researchers have already applied Big Data analytics to agricultural and weather records in Colombia, revealing how climate variation impacts rice yields. After defining its Open Data-Open Access strategy, CGIAR has launched an internal call for proposals for big data analytics platforms that will provide services to the Agri-Food system programmes and parners, and will interconnect the CGIAR data to other multi-disciplinary big data. This webinar will provide an overview of the OpenAIRE Guidelines for data source managers who operate literature repositories, data archives or current research information systems.
The general principle of these guidelines is to improve interoperability of bibliographic information exchange between repositories, e-journals, CRIS and research infrastructures. In particular they are a means to help content providers to comply with Open Access policies and enable reporting of research output from public funding, e.g. the European Commission Open Access mandate in Horizon2020.
