Moving Forward on Learning Analytics - A/Professor Deborah West, Charles Darw...Blackboard APAC
Learning analytics is a 'hot topic' in education with many institutions seeking to make better use of the data available via various systems. One of the key challenges in this process is to understand the business questions that people working in various roles in institutions would like to be able to answer. However, it is also important that these questions are appropriately structured and specific in order to gather the relevant data. This session builds on the workshop run at last year's Blackboard Learning and Teaching conference where participants explored business questions and use cases for learning analytics from a range of perspectives.

Effective Home-School Partnerships- A strength based approach.2018JanetArnold8
As educators, you interact daily not only with your students but with their families as well. The type of relationships you form will help set the stage for optimal learning and growth, especially when a family is going through or has gone through the process of receiving a diagnosis of a learning disability for their child. Establishing an effective strength-based partnership allows you to help families navigate through what can be a very overwhelming time. This collaboration leads to co-operation and support that can make a real difference to how children see themselves as learners and engage in the learning process.
Many students with learning disabilities (LDs) are not aware of their individual learning needs or of a possible diagnosis and the behaviour associated because of this lack of knowledge can have a severe impact on their academic and social skills. It is important for both parents and educators to work collaboratively to bridge the gap between home and school to create a positive school climate.
As graduate admissions offices warm up to new technology, flashy CRM systems and social networking, the number of channels available to reach prospective students is immense. With a shaky economy and growing competition, growing the top of the recruitment funnel is crucial to boosting enrollments and deepening the applicant pool. Take your recruitment to the next level by determining which channels yield the best results, leveraging social media to expand your reach beyond your "fans," appropriately assessing results from each of your lead sources and identifying ways to efficiently allocate your resources. This session will delve into each stage of the recruitment funnel and discuss how you can collect your leads, engage them to inquire and apply and assess the results.

fundamental commonalities that transcend borders.
The same 3 motivations are ranked highly in every
country:”
“Technology……is the great global unifier; it is the glue that
binds this generation together and fuels the three motivations…”
JUSTICE
The need for social or
personal justice, to do
what’s right, to be an

AUTHENTICITY

COMMUNE
The need for

8. Technology- Embraced
“Youth see technology as Plah-Doh –
something they use in an utterly
malleable and instinctive way. Older
generations start with ‘what will this
box allow me to do?’ Whereas this
generation starts with ‘what do I want
to do? Where can my imagination take
me?’
Technology enables young people to
sense the world and make sense of the
world. It is this deep relationship with
technology that is shaping their
attitudes towards community and truth
and allowing them to re-imagine justice
for a new era.”

25. Engage through more surveys
Juniors should:
1. Update Activity record
2. Do College Match
3. Update Course Plan
4. Do Design a College
5. Do Getting 2 Know U if not done
before
6. And other surveys as needed
(custom, Athletic, Find My Spark)
Students LOVE to do surveys and learn about themselves
26. Kaetlyn Tells It Like it Is
Getting 2 Know U.
Coming up with something to write about for the Common Application
was particularly challenging for me, as the prompts are very broad. The
Getting 2 Know U survey gets your brain rolling and ideas flowing. Any
question within this survey is a great place to start when trying to write
your Common Application essay.
Design A College.
I find the Design a College survey most useful in organizing my
thoughts. For me, after visiting ten colleges I became unsure as to why
I liked a college. I simply had a general feeling for each school. This
survey helped me to focus on the specifics of a college, and gave me a
general idea of my ideal college. This survey can be used both as a
starting point when creating a college list, as well as a reminder when
all of your potential schools begin to blur together.
Read all of Kaetlyn’s blogs at www.guidedpath.net
27. Recommended Test Schedule- Juniors
