Tesco is a large British supermarket chain that was founded in 1919. It began as a group of market stalls in London owned by Jack Cohen. Tesco's first own brand product was tea, which was sourced from T.E. Stockwell. This led to the name Tesco being formed from the initials of T.E. Stockwell. In the 1960s, Tesco began opening larger "superstore" locations. The document then discusses various aspects of Tesco's store design and layout, including the exterior featuring signage and windows, the grid interior layout with clear signage, and the placement of products in high traffic areas.
