The Union Pump plant in Burlington, Ontario had one of the highest injury rates in its company. The new plant manager, Nick Hurt, implemented stricter safety measures like disciplining employees who didn't follow rules and providing appropriate safety gear. To motivate further safety improvements, Hurt promised to dance as a chicken if guarding was installed around dangerous machines quickly. When the guarding went up, Hurt danced as a Tele-tubby instead. The plant now has high safety scores and lower injury rates due to employees and management working together and using fun challenges to meet safety goals.
