This document explores the adoption and diffusion of telehealth technologies in substance abuse treatment, highlighting the complexities of individual acceptance and integration of new technologies. Through a web-based survey of 171 treatment professionals, factors influencing both the propensity to adopt technology and barriers to its implementation were identified, including optimism and proficiency as positive factors, and dependence and vulnerability as inhibiting factors. The study emphasizes the importance of understanding cognitive, emotional, and contextual concerns in facilitating technology adoption in behavioral health.
