This webinar was shared on October 28, 2020 as part of a series of three webinars sharing economic development and community development tactics for small rural communities in Ontario called the Teeny Tiny Summit.

6. Once completed, the Commercial Centre will have 20,000 square feet of office and
commercial space.The goal is to reduce economic leakage, create meeting space and
allow small businesses to flourish in our community.To date, I have worked to complete a
feasibility study, many funding applications, detailed drawings, community meetings and
funding agreements. We plan to break ground in the spring.

9. Approved Tourism &
Accommodation Feasibility Study
(TAFS)
In January 2020, our Chief and Council approved theTAFS. We worked with a consultant
to complete aTourism Feasibility andAccommodation Study which was designed to
look at the viability of entering into one of the most lucrative industries in Peterborough
County, while staying true to our values and our culture.
I am currently developing an action plan and researching funding opportunities to
complete this action plan.

with the lack of commercial
space, but our efforts in
funding and technical support
have seen many successes in
this area.

12. We are always investigating ways for the
community to become more economically
independent through own-source revenue.
We are currently focusing our efforts on
looking at business opportunities that will
create jobs, use small amounts of land (if
located on Reserve) and generate revenue
for the First Nation.
