What is Technology?
• Technology is the collection of techniques,
skills, methods and processes used in the
production of goods or services or in the
accomplishment of objectives, such as
scientific investigation.
• Technology can be the knowledge of
techniques, processes, etc. or it can be
embedded in machines, computers, devices
and factories, which can be operated by
individuals without detailed knowledge of the
workings of such things.

Why is technology important for
marketing?
• Nowadays, a transformation of marketing
is underway as we spend more time on
our mobiles, tablets and laptops.
• The challenge for brands is to connect
with customers through all these devices
in real time and create campaigns that
work across social media, display
advertising and e-commerce
Digital Media
• Computer software technology can reach
potential customers with targeted,
measurable communications. Specific
digital media marketing tools include
search engine optimization, mobile
marketing, interactive online
advertisements, opt-in email and online
partnerships such as affiliate marketing
and sponsorships.
Social Media
• Social media marketing is a subset of digital media
marketing. However, the goal of social media
marketing tools is to develop an interactive, online
relationship with the customer rather than to mine
covertly for customer data.
• Examples of social media marketing tools
• blogging, tweeting, posting, sharing, networking, pinning,
bookmarking, media sharing and commenting on social
media websites such as Twitter, Facebook, Orkut, LinkedIn,
Pinterest, Reddit and YouTube.
Facebook
• As the largest social network in the world,
it has more than 1.23 billion active users,
62% of whom log in on a daily basis.
• Facebook advertising platform allows you
to zero in and specify the type of people
you're looking for. You can target by
location, demographics, and interests.

• Facebook has three tools that can be used
by anyone.

• Facebook pages are similar to profiles, but for
businesses, organizations, and public figures.
• ads
• You can create ads targeted at specific
geographic areas, ages, education levels, and
even the types of devices used for browsing.

• You can create groups related to your industry
or product offerings as a way to reach out to
potential customers.
Youtube
• A statistic from YouTube states that viewers watch
hundreds of millions of hours of YouTube videos
every day. Each minute, an estimated 300 hours of
YouTube videos are uploaded.
• There are more than 1 billion users on YouTube and
the number of hours each month that viewers are
watching videos has been steadily increasing by 50%
year over year.
• YouTube provides many viral marketing advantages,
from easily embedding videos on websites to sharing
them on social media.
Demographic Targeting
• Based on age, gender and annual income
location, languages known, parental status
etc.
• Is the most important part for morden
marketing.
• Adverisers use demographic to group the
audience in more specified group.
Google Analytics
• Google Analytics is a free Web analytics
service that provides statistics and basic
analytical tools for search engine
optimization (SEO) and marketing
purposes.
• Google analytics features include
• data visualization
• segmentation for analysis of subsets
• custom reports
• email-based sharing and communication
• integration with other Google products
Pros
• Social media marketing is low cost
• Social media marketing caters to a big
audience
• Social media marketing is fast
• Social media marketing generates interaction
• Social media marketing nurtures brand loyalty
• Social media marketing is good for customer
service

• Social media marketing is time consuming
• Social media marketing attracts all sorts of
people, even the negative and malicious ones.
• Social media marketing makes you lose
control over what you publish online and
everything is available for anyone – including
negative and malicious elements online.
• Social media marketing ROI (returen on
investment) is hard to define
Conclusion
• everything has pro and con, technology
brings us a marketing tool, demographic
and target,such as Facebook, Youtube,
Twitter and so on, but also brings us a
dangerous internet emvironment, how to
avoid the negative elements onlion, it
needs everyone put effort on and protect
ourselves.
