The Aral-Kyzylkum dislocation system (ADS) is a regional tectonic boundary between two sedimentary basins that have significant geological differences. ADS is considered geologically "anomalous" as the zone between the basins shows clear signs of a regional transcontinental contact, rather than a more gradual transitional zone often seen between other basins. The structure, thickness, and displacement of the geological section differs sharply across ADS.
