Teach to Teach with Technology
Dr. Nellie Deutsch (Ed.D) is an education technology
relationship-based mentor to educators worldwide. She’s
faculty at Atlantic University and the University of Phoenix
and on EdMedia executive committee. Nellie has been
teaching English in high school and at the college level for
over 35 years and integrating technology into face-to-face
programs since 1992. She organizes free online events
such as Moodle & Second Life MOOCs, online conferences
(Connecting Online and Moodle MOOTs), Blog Festivals,
EFLtalks for free. She is passionate about using
technologies such as Moodle, WizIQ, Knovio, PresentMe,
Slidespeech, Screencast-o-matic, and google drive to
promote active learning and teaching as a way to learn.

Technology may facilitate instruction and learning, but who’s doing
the learning? In many cases, teachers are more active in the
classroom than students. Teaching certainly provides many
opportunities to learn. Why not flip the classroom by allowing
students to do the teaching? In this session, participants will use their
smart phones or other mobile devices to create a short multi-media
presentation with Knovio, Slidespeech, Evernote.
How can students become active leaders of their own learning?

In this session, we will practice using technology to engage students
in collaborative learning by teaching them how to teach as a way to
learn.

  • 2. Teach to Teach with Technology Dr. Nellie Deutsch (Ed.D) is an education technology relationship-based mentor to educators worldwide. She’s faculty at Atlantic University and the University of Phoenix and on EdMedia executive committee. Nellie has been teaching English in high school and at the college level for over 35 years and integrating technology into face-to-face programs since 1992. She organizes free online events such as Moodle & Second Life MOOCs, online conferences (Connecting Online and Moodle MOOTs), Blog Festivals, EFLtalks for free. She is passionate about using technologies such as Moodle, WizIQ, Knovio, PresentMe, Slidespeech, Screencast-o-matic, and google drive to promote active learning and teaching as a way to learn.
  • 3. Teach to Teach with Technology Nellie Deutsch, Ed.D Technology may facilitate instruction and learning, but who’s doing the learning? In many cases, teachers are more active in the classroom than students. Teaching certainly provides many opportunities to learn. Why not flip the classroom by allowing students to do the teaching? In this session, participants will use their smart phones or other mobile devices to create a short multi-media presentation with Knovio, Slidespeech, Evernote. How can students become active leaders of their own learning?
