SAIQA BATOOL
Some common techniques of
teaching method

 ORAL WORK
 WRITTEN WORK
 ASSIGNMEN WORK
It is the work which is done “ORALLY”
without the help of “WRITTEN WORK”
and “RECORD”. It can be defined as
“MENTAL WORK”, where in a problem
is solved “ORALLY”, or
“MENTALLY”, without the use of pen
and paper.
As a matter of fact, much of
mathematical work has to be done
mentally and may tables have to be
learnt by heart. It precedes written
work. In all respects, “ORAL WORK”
is the backbone not only of
“WRITTEN WORK” but also of
overall performance in the subject.
With the help of Oral work, some times can possibly
be saved.
It removes shyness of students through oral
expression.
It encourages healthy competition.
It builds strong foundation for later written work.
It is an easy way of testing previous knowledge.
It is an effective means of maintaining discipline.
Oral discussion and mental images are not
enough and cannot possibly be retained for
long. Mental work has therefore to be
combined with written work and not be
supplant it, because efficiency in written
work is the ultimate aim. Oral work must
contribute to success in written work.
Written work is an a way mental confirmation
of information acquired orally.
The teacher may adopt a flexible division of
time to provide for different phases of
work, namely…….
Oral fundamentals
Written fundamentals
Oral problems
Written problems
Assignment work : Assignment is a work allotment.
 It is the work assigned to the students, which may
be done by the students at home or school.
 There may be a pre lesson or a post lesson
assignment.
 Assignment is a sort of undertaking or
commitment on the part of the learner.
 he/she undertakes upon himself/herself
the responsibility of currying out the
work assigned.
It may consist of solving a few
mathematical problems, understanding a
preposition or a group of prepositions.
Assignment is a sort of self study which
supplements class teaching.
In the
“Dalton plan”,

“Teaching is wholly based on
the assignment system”.
Guideline for preparing the
“assignment”
1.Weekly assignments are preferable to daily or
monthly ones.
2.The assignment should be a cooperative activity in
which the teacher and students take an active
part.
3.It must motivate, clear up doubts or
misunderstandings, and develops insight.
4.The task of assignment should be clear and to the
point.
