Preparation For The K to 12
Basic Education Program
1. Real-life or Authentic Problem Solving
It is used to expose high school learners to real life
scenario like observation where they discuss, compare,
synthesize ideas and eventually form their own
judgment or solution to a problem.
2. Visual Processing
It is used to customize pictures or visual aids for the
high school learners to analyze relevant topics for
longer retention as well as in understanding.
INDIVIDUAL
3. Mnemonic Strategies
It is used to employ the use of rhyme or acronym to
assist learner’s recall or memory towards relevant terms
such as grammar rules (e.g. FANBOYS for
conjunctions).
4. Writing Strategies
It is used to let the learners write their thoughts about
what they viewed or read. Or by the use of incomplete
statements, ask the students to write down what they
learn or what they are confused about.
INDIVIDUAL
5. Hands-on Activities
It is used to let the learners utilize practical or concrete
experiences integrated in the lesson such as
demonstration. The learners learn by doing the teaching
on their own.
INDIVIDUAL
6. Peer Teaching
It is used to allow learners each other in a “Pair, Think,
Share!” manner in the classroom. After the teacher had
taught, he asks each student to get a partner. One
student will be A and another B. A shares what she
learned with B and B, in turn, will share what she
learned. Teacher listens for formative assessment of
learning.
PAIR/ PEERS AND GROUP
7. Active Review
It is used to let the learners share the learning they have
for an entire week or grading period instead the teacher
does it. Review days are planned and organized to give
enough time for them to prepare for the holding of a
review.
PAIR/ PEERS AND GROUP
8.Simulations and Role plays
It is used to topics which are not feasible such as
reenactments of stories and application of grammar
rules in real life situations. In this strategy, imagination is
boundless and variety of unreal events is at hand.
GROUP ACTIVITIES STRATEGIES
9. Songs, Jingles, Raps
It is used to integrate tune and rhyming in the lesson
content of English topics such as literature,
hypertextuality (nonlinear information), and others.
Adding movement to the music or rhyme provides an
extra sensory input to learners and enhances the
learning.
GROUP ACTIVITIES STRATEGIES
As a teacher, you are a
powerful individual.
Tell me and I forget. Teach me and
I remember. Involve me and I learn.
- Benjamin Franklin
