This document discusses important topics in teaching aptitude, including concepts of education, teaching, and different teaching models. It outlines key elements of teaching such as objectives, levels (memory, understanding, reflective), characteristics, and requirements. It also discusses learner characteristics like academic, social, emotional, and cognitive traits. Different factors affecting teaching are identified relating to teachers, learners, support materials, facilities, environment, and institutions. Various teaching methods and support systems used in higher education are also summarized, including traditional, modern, ICT-based, teacher-centered vs learner-centered, and online vs offline approaches. Elements and types of evaluation systems as well as innovations in evaluation are briefly covered.
Here is a brief presentation on the text "A Tale of Tub" by Johnathan Swift. Swift's First work and one of the Influential Satire in 18th Century and today as well.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
3. Important topics important for this Unit
• Education – Basic Elements
• Teaching – Concepts, Objectives, Levels of teaching (Memory,
Understanding and Reflective), Characteristics and basic
requirements.
• Learner’s Characteristics – Characteristics of adolescent and adult
learners (Academic, Social, Emotional and Cognitive), Individual
differences.
• Factors affecting teaching related to – Teacher, Learner, Support
Material, Instructional Facilities, Learning environment and
Institution.
4. • Methods of teaching in Institutions of higher learning – Teacher
centered vs. Learner centered, offline vs. online.
• Teaching Support System – Traditional, Modern and ICT based.
• Evaluation Systems – Elements and Types of Evaluation, Evaluation in
Choice Based Credit System in Higher Education, Computer based
testing, Innovations in evaluation Systems.
6. The Concept of Teaching
• Powerful direction
• Management
• Process
• Predetermined goals
• Formal – School, Institutions,
Paid Learning
• Informal – Homeschooling,
Family
7. Basic Teaching Models:-
Instructor-centered Teaching
• When an instructor or a
facilitator is in actively involved
in teaching while the learners
are in a passive.
• In this teaching, an instructor is
fully responsible for what is
taught and how it is learned.
• the instructor is responsible for
the process of evaluation
Learner-centered Teaching
• When a student or a learner is
more emphasized in a classroom
than others.
• It also involves each student's
interests, abilities, and learning
styles, placing the learning
instructors for individuals rather
than for the class.
• It includes self-evaluation.
8. Different Levels of Teaching
Memory Level
of Teaching
Understanding
Level of Teaching
Reflective
Level of
Teaching
9. Models of teaching
• a. Pedagogy model: In this method, the teacher, more or less, controls
the material to be learned and the pace of learning while presenting
the course content to the students. It is also called instructor-centred
approach. In this, the learner is dependent upon the instructor for all
learning.
• b. Andragogical model: In this model, the learner is mostly self-
directed and is responsible for his or her own learning. In this
method, the instructors facilitate the learning of participants and help
them by offering opportunities to learn themselves and acquire new
knowledge.
10. Characteristics of a Learner
• Personal characteristics: These relate to the demographics such as age,
gender, language is spoken, cultural background, etc. concerning a person
and is also a very vital aspect of learners characteristics
• Academic characteristics: These characteristics are the educational or
learning characteristics relating to an individual, a group of people, etc.
where their prior knowledge, educational style, and level of education are
also considered. This makes academics to be a determining factor of
learners characteristics.
• Social and emotional: These specify the characteristics related to an
individual or a group, such as a self-image, self-efficacy, cohesiveness, etc.
• Cognitive: This refers to the mental capabilities of a person and aspects
such as mental procedures, intellectual skills, problem-solving techniques
adopted, etc. are considered.
