Quantum Criticism: an Analysis of Political News Reporting
In this project, we continuously collect data from the RSS feeds of traditional news sources. We apply
several pre-trained implementations of named entity recognition (NER) tools, quantifying the success of
each implementation. We also perform sentiment analysis of each news article at the document, paragraph
and sentence level, with the goal of creating a corpus of tagged news articles that is made available to the
public through a web interface. We show how the data in this corpus could be used to identify bias in news
reporting, and also establish different quantifiable publishing patterns of left-leaning and right-leaning
news organisations.

An exploratory case study of library anxiety
This study examined library anxiety (LA) in basic skills students at the Los Angeles Community College District. A survey found students experienced moderate levels of LA on average. Qualitative interviews revealed that while students valued libraries, their awareness and use of library resources was low due to a lack of guidance from faculty. The author recommends that libraries recognize LA in basic skills students, strengthen connections to developmental education programs on campus, engage instructors to promote library services, and balance technology with educational roles.

You will be creating an AP Exam Synthesis Question. The Synthesis Question gives you several sources and asks you to combine (synthesize) them with your own thoughts to create a cohesive essay. This is the same goal as a research paper. Your question (prompt) and sources should be formatted, labeled, and presented as on the AP Lang Exam. This will be modeled after the ones in the sample packets you were given.

The most effective Synthesis Prompts give the test-takers a wide variety of sources to consider. These sources are of various types, lengths, and opinions. This diversity allows each test-taker to choose their own individual approach to the assignment while providing them with the tools to adequately synthesize into their paper.
You are going to choose EIGHT sources specific to your assigned topic. This will ensure that your group will be providing sources that show the complexity of the issue.
Therefore, when choosing your sources, keep several guidelines in mind:
1. Choose sources that cover a variety of viewpoints on your assigned topic, making sure to keep the sides evenly represented.
2. Choose sources from a wide variety of locations and formats. Use the list below as guidance; it is certainly not all-inclusive. Requirements are in CAPITAL letters. Beyond those required types, you may choose the rest of your sources at your discretion.

The presenters will share successful strategies and activities to promote college-level numerical literacy and critical thinking. This new set of skills will empower students to "survive college" by being better prepared and more confident to overcome academic challenges in a variety of disciplines.
