The document proposes a formal magazine called "INFAMY" focused on the pop-punk genre. It would target primarily teenage and young adult females who enjoy pop-punk music. The magazine would feature articles on upcoming local concerts and bands in the Birmingham area. 1. Task 9 – Formal proposal
1. For my title Ihave chose to use the name: INFAMY.
Thisis because itdirectlylinks to the song ‘Fame < Infamy’ by Fall Out Boy (which is quite a
huge band within the pop punk genre). So it would be fair to try and include a band’s song
name for the front cover. Another reason why I chose to have this as the title was because
the definitionof infamyis: ‘the state of beingwell knownforsome badqualityordeed’.This
links with pop-punk as it seen as the genre which is frowned upon by many pop lovers
/listeners as it is seen outside of the normal. So I thought it would be very fitting for my
music magazine to be called this.
2. I have chose to use pop-punk as my chosen genre as it is an up and coming genre with
growinginterest.Itispersonallymyfavourite genresoIfeltlike I could put all my heart into
my making this magazine and how I would want to see a music magazine on the shelves.
Seen as this genre is quite popular now-a-days, there isn’t a magazine dedicated to ONLY
pop punk. Yes, you do have Kerrang! but that includes other genres such as rock and metal
in equal parts. I would definitely include other artists from closely related genres, but still
have pop punk as the overwhelming genre.
3. The target audience formymagazine wouldbe mostlyfemales,thisispartial to the fact that
mostpop-punkbandsare male and fairly attractive. I am not dismissing the fact that males
are interested in pop-punk, but the majority is females due to studies and surveys
conducted online, so that is why I am tailoring my magazine to females. As a main focus
groupit wouldbe females aged between 13-20, regardless of their sexuality and ethnicity.
They would need to be enrolled in some sort of education due to their age. The younger
audience/readers would be too young to have a job (therefore not have a disposable
income) so the magazine would have to be relatively cheap. My magazine would target a
female audience whohave afairlyrelaxedlifestyleasitwouldhave manypagesdedicatedto
upcoming concert and gig dates around the Birmingham area, so they would have to have
the time and dedication to the bands in order to go to the gigs.
4. For the front page my initial ideas were:
 A very simple colour scheme with a minimalistic backdrop (a photo studio white
backing) with the model in the right third.
 The mastheadwouldbe onthe toplefthandside witha blackbackgroundand white
writing
 The font forthe mastheadand maincover line wouldbe inblockcapitalswitha
blackbackgroundand white writing.
 The cover lineswouldbe smallerandina neater,notblockcapitalsfont.
 I wouldhave noextraimagesaddedonthe front coveras I wouldwantitto be plain
and sophisticated.
 The cover lineswouldbe placedinaslightly opaquebox onthe lefthandside.
 I wouldhave a stripacross the bottomto summarise whatisgoingoninside the
magazine.

colourscheme off again.

 I wouldplace anotherstripalongthe bottomalso.
 Grab quote will be insertedbetween the twoimagestonotmake itlooktoo
crowded.
