How is 3D used by the interactive media and computer games industries?
Include and comment on examples of work produced using the 3D modelling across a range of industries:
3D is used everywhere, every day by everyone one. It’s in phones, computers, art, architecture, designs,
TV, education, maths. Medicine, and of course games.
Games
The first use of 3D in games was in 3D Monster
Maze made in 1981 by J.K.Greye and programmed
by Malcolm Evans for the Sinclair ZX81. This was
the world’s first major use of 3D in a game, but
certainly not the last.
With technology advancing all the time games are
getting better graphics which means, that they are
getting more and more photo-realistic all the
time. 3D is a big part of that.
From the downright creepy,
To the beautiful.

Not just technology is advancing but so is the human imagination, therefor we get better ideas and
hopefully better gameplay. A person can create brilliant work wonder and pulchritudinous creations
form all over the world, such as Mr Doob. Who can create works of art with java script!

Computers
Art
3D can be used in ways of design such as art and design, using computers.
Architecture
3D is not only used in entertaining ways. It can also be used to help make useful things for the future.
Such as houses, buildings, factories.

Product & Design
Products are made and design all the time. But such complicated designs such as engines, robots and
mechanical equipment it used quite a lot with 3D design engines.

TV
3D in TV has got so far that we now are able to have 3D televisions. These TV’s are state of the art in
today’s technology. Such as this 3D plasma TV’s are made by companies such as Sony,
Samsung, and LG. with 4K screens and home theatres.

Medicine
3D is used in medicine to help identify where each bone, muscle and organ is located. This can really help
people new to medicine. It can also help train doctors much more efficiently and faster than before.
With uses like these, medicine can really advance, helping to teach new doctors and nurses, quicker and
more effectively.
