Task 1

Types Of Research
Quantitative research-
Quantitative research is more to do with numbers and statistical information. This
type of research is collected by questionnaires, surveys and polls. This type of
research does not give much detail in the information it provides, its to give a
rough idea.
Qualitative research-
This type of research is much more in depth and detailed information. It is used to
gain understanding of underlying reasons and opinions. This type of research
would be found through much personal ways. For example one to one interviews
and asking more personal questions to get the answers the person is looking for
Methods Of Research
Primary and Secondary research
Primary research is new research carried out to answer specific issues or
questions. Its research that found out by the actual researcher them self. It can
involve questionnaires, surveys or interviews with specific people or small groups.
Secondary research is the use of information from a researcher other than
yourself. They’ve either researched what you're researching for another purpose
and this information is publicly available.
Purpose of research
Audience, demographics and psychographics- There are many reasons for finding
out information about the audience is to see what kind of people we want to
attract. We need to see what things an audience likes to see. If we weren't to get
the audience opinions then we could be releasing something that nobody would
even like to see. Our aim is to attract as many people as possible and have them
see what they want. This would also lead a company to make more money plus
having good feedback from your audience is always a good thing.
This all then gets broken down into demographics and psychographics. Examples
of this are ages, gender, race. This will then help relate it to the type of people we
are entertaining. This will also help us keep anything restricted if we need to, from
younger viewers that could be waiting, which would be inappropriate for them to
watch. All projects have restrictions of some sort, for example 15+ or 18.
Marketing, competition and advertising placement-
The most important thing is to get your brand well known to the public, we need
the audience to be intrigued and we and them to really want to look at the final
production. There is so much competition out there, this adds to the pressure to
the company so the competition gets even higher, everyone is trying to better than
everybody else, they want the best reviews.. With good advertising placement, it
will attract the audience you want. When advertising, to get to younger people, if
that is the aim, you would most likely advertise it on social networks because
teenagers are always on the phone, but for old people, above the age of 50 for
example would most likely look in a newspaper.
Production and viability-
When making this project, the viability is very important as we will have to look up
the idea we have come up with and make sure its not similar to another person's
idea. I will also be creating a budget to manage the price of the production bit by
bit and make sure there is a reasonable end price. Once I have seen the final
production price I will research and make sure that the money I will be spending is
worth it.
Costs and technical resources-
I will have to look at the costs of everything that i will be using in my project, this is
including locations, props, cameras etc. I will be able to see what i can use that
won't cost too much money and i need to make sure i don't spend too much
money on one thing. It wouldn't make sense to spend a certain amount of money
on a camera for example and then spend even more money on a microphone,
everything needs to be affordable. Tools that are going to be our software and
hardware will improve the construction, delivery and purpose will be convenient.
