TAP - HORROR

1. Our target audience profile will predominantly consist of a male demographic aged between
15 and 23. He is an educated individual who has many interests in subjects such as
psychology. His passion for slasher films with psychological elements along with his
ambition to be a detective only further drives his fascination regarding the horror genre. He is
outgoing and is always making witty comments, which entertains his peers in many
scenarios.
He is an open minded person who is likeable and can always be relied on to meet deadlines
and complete work to a high standard. He has a close group of friends who consist of a
variety of characters, each personality combined creates the perfect friendship circle where
he fits in flawlessly. Criminology is a captivating subject for him to study at university, it
provides him with opportunities to conduct research into some of the most infamous cases of
mass killings and psychological torture; this is extremely interesting to him as the human
mind is strongly related to the field of work that he would like to be involved in.
Relationships are important to him, besides friendship groups, it is essential to stay
connected with family while away at university, he will never miss a special occasion such as
birthdays and is a great person to turn to for advice about technology. Apart from his studies
his social life is based on partying every weekend and going out during the week to local
pubs; his group of friends are always up for a party, meaning there is never really a free
weekend. When out with his friends he generally stick to the same choice of drink, consisting
of either a classic Jack Daniel's and coke or a beer.
When not out partying, studying or spending time with family and friends; hobbies are an
important part of his lifestyle, making the university swimming team and regularly attending
the gym keeps him occupied and gives him a sense of aesthetic appreciation. He is a true
film buff, he appreciates fine work and will enjoy original pieces within a variety of genres, so
long as it reflects artistic skill and flair, which is why he considers himself to be a real fan of
director Stanley Kubrick, his favourite film being ‘A Clockwork Orange’, as it was innovative
of its time. He has always thoroughly enjoyed psychological and slasher novels based on
true stories, one of his personal favourites is ‘The Silence of The Lambs’ by Thomas Harris.
He loves indulging in a book which will encapsulate his interests and keep him entertained
but a good horror film is equally as enticing. Gruesome horrors do not bother him as he
appreciates the work that went into producing the film, and would love to one-day produce
his own horror based on true events.
The target audience possesses an interest in an array of films ranging from action to horror;
thought provoking films are widely appreciated and appeal to the target audience. He finds
the supernatural elements of films almost comedic and prefers films which are realistic. His
favourite horror movie would have to be ‘Hide and Seek’ the 2005 horror follows the story of
the suicide of a man's wife and the strange happenings after her passing. He is an active
social media user and follows the news daily, ensuring that he is always up to date with
current affairs, this is important for his university course as there are always new cases
about crimes and studies about psychology.
