PROCLAIM is the second generation of a sophisticated on-line health claim processing system developed by CIGNA Health
Care. Numerous changes and rapidly increasing costs within the health care industry demand a claims processing system that
meets traditional requirements for accuracy, control, speed, data collection and retention, and can accommodate many
changing benefit designs and cost containment provisions. PROCLAIM facilitates audit and control of the claim adjudication
process from the initial entry of data to the production of final benefit payment reports. The system provides on-line
handling of eligibility information, claims history, automatic adjudication, inquiry, automatic correspondence and nightly
production of benefit explanations and payments.
