or her ability to handle or
cope.

• Lack of concentration.
• Withdrawal.
• Heightened emotional state/unusual

• Increased sick leave and/or frequent
unexplained absences.
• Poor timekeeping.
• Underperformance.

you live well and improve both your physical health and
mental health

Emotional Self-Care
Activities that help you connect, process, and
reflect on a full range of emotions.
Feel more positive emotions.
Example: Write down three good things
that happened to you today

Ways To take care of yourself emotionally?
• Be aware of your emotions and
reactions.
• Express your feelings in appropriate

Physical Self-Care
Activities you do that improve the well-being of
your physical health.
This also means seeing a doctor when you are sick and taking the
time to rest. Caring for your physical health might mean eating extra
fruit and veggies to fuel your body, as well as staying hydrated.
Exercise causes your
brain to release 'feel
good' chemicals like
endorphins and
serotonin that help
improve your mood
Ways To Practice Physical Self-Care
Physical Self-Care Examples:
Eat a healthy meal. Engage in some form
of exercise.
Go for a walk. Drink water.
Practice good sleep hygiene
Have a cup of tea. Sit in the sunlight.
Take a shower or bath.

Whether it be keeping a gratitude journal, making it a daily ri
tual to reflect on what you’re thankful for, or going out and t
hanking those you appreciate, there are multiple ways to mak e
gratitude a regular practice. Focus on the positivity!
3. Spend time in nature
The ability to disconnect from the noise of everyday life and to
connect with your senses. It can also help with mindfulness.
4. Treat yourself
Wear those fancy earrings you would normally save for a special
occasion. Cook yourself an indulgent meal, just because you want to.
Trust me, little things like that can make a huge difference in how you
feel about yourself.
