The document discusses "Enable Talk Gloves", gloves equipped with sensors that recognize sign language and translate it into text-to-speech on a smartphone. A team of Ukrainian students developed the gloves to help deaf people communicate. The gloves measure finger bending and hand motion with sensors connected to a microcontroller and Bluetooth. This allows translation of signs into text then spoken words on a phone. While the gloves can currently translate a few phrases, the team aims to expand the sign library and improve accuracy and speed for conversation. Long-term, the technology could benefit other applications like interacting with interfaces and may become a mainstream computing method.
