1 Peter 1:13-19 Therefore gird up the loins of your
mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the
grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of
Jesus Christ; [14] as obedient children, not
conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in
your ignorance; [15] but as He who called you is
holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, [16]
because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy." [17]
and if you call on the Father, who without partiality
judges according to each one's work, conduct
yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in
fear; [18] knowing that you were not redeemed with
corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your
aimless conduct received by tradition from your
fathers, [19] but with the precious blood of Christ, as
of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
OUR SONGS
A. Our songs in our assemblies have two purposes...
1. By them we praise God - (Heb 2:11-12) For both
He who sanctifies and those who are being
sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is
not ashamed to call them brethren, {12} saying:
"I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the
midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.“
2. By them we teach and admonish one another -
(Col 3:16) Let the word of Christ dwell in you
richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing
one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the
Lord.
B. A familiar song with an important message is
"Take Time To Be Holy“…
I. TAKE TIME TO BE HOLY
A. 1 Peter 1:15-16 as He who called you is
holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
because it is written, "Be holy, for I am
holy."
1. We are to be holy in our conduct
2. Even as God is
B. Hebrews 12:14 Pursue peace with all
people, and holiness, without which no one
will see the Lord:
1. Without holiness we will not see the Lord
2. So we must pursue holiness
II. THE NEED TO TAKE TIME
A. The world rushes on
1. Hectic, fast-paced lifestyles
2. Activities seem to fill every moment
3. And our lives are but a vapor – James
4:13-14 Come now, you who say, "Today
or tomorrow we will go to such and such a
city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and
make a profit"; 14 whereas you do not
know what will happen tomorrow. For what
is your life? It is even a vapor that appears
for a little time and then vanishes away.
4. Before you know it, your life will end
II. THE NEED TO TAKE TIME
B. Being holy takes time
1. 2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, having these
promises, beloved, let us cleanse
ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh
and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of
God.
2. Holiness must be perfected
3. Requires cleansing from defilement of
flesh and spirit
4. If we are not careful we will lose the time
necessary to develop holiness
III. THE WAY TO TAKE TIME
A. Spend time with the Lord
1. In Prayer - Spend much time in secret with
Jesus alone, Speak oft with thy Lord,
Forgetting in nothing His blessings to seek
a. Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come
boldly to the throne of grace, that we may
obtain mercy and find grace to help in
time of need.
b. Hebrews 7:25 Therefore He is also able to
save to the uttermost those who come to
God through Him, since He always lives to
make intercession for them.
III. THE WAY TO TAKE TIME
B. Spend time with the Lord
2. In The Word of God - Feed on His word
a. 1 Peter 2:2 as newborn babes, desire the
pure milk of the word, that you may grow
thereby,
b. Hebrews 1:1-2 1 God, who at various
times and in various ways spoke in time
past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has
in these last days spoken to us by His
Son, whom He has appointed heir of all
things, through whom also He made the
worlds;
III. THE WAY TO TAKE TIME
C. Spend time with others - Make friends of God’s
children
1. Fellowship - Acts 2:42 And they continued
steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and
fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in
prayers.

daily, while it is called "Today," lest any of you
be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Helps ensure faithfulness and steadfastness
3. Assemble - Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us
consider one another in order to stir up love
and good works, 25 not forsaking the
assembling of ourselves together, as is the
manner of some, but exhorting one another, and
so much the more as you see the Day
approaching.
III. THE WAY TO TAKE TIME
D. Take time to help others - Help those who are
weak
1. Galatians 6:1-2 Brethren, if a man is
overtaken in any trespass, you who are
spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of
gentleness, considering yourself lest you
also be tempted. 2 Bear one another's
burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
2. Galatians 6:9-10 And let us not grow
weary while doing good, for in due season
