The importance of sustainability is visible in our partnerships with suppliers who share our best practices in water management, our devotion to the communities and watersheds that are affected by our carefully calculated operations, and our acknowledgement of the intricate relationship between business and ecological nourishment.
In assessment of our water management strategy, we formed four key questions to help us along the road to sustainable water management:
• What land use and development strategies can be utilized at our facility to reduce water system resource and energy demands?
• What water efficiency and renewable energy standards, and conservation best management practices need to be identified for cost effective facility/infrastructure upgrades to the existing water system?
• Can our Water Management Plan efforts promote a rate restructuring for our business to encourage water conservation while protecting revenue?
• What outreach and education tools and strategies can be utilized for encouraging water conservation to our patrons and customers?
Hayfield Road Pipe Conveyance Project Meeting September 16, 2020
The project provides approximately 3,600 linear feet (LF) of new stormwater conveyance; and 2,000 LF of new sanitary main and service connections for 23 homes; and fully milled and repaved Hayfield Road, Telegraph Road intersection and Bridgewater Court. Presented at a Hayfield Citizens Association Meeting on September 16, 2020.

Water Efficient Garden - Tualatin Riverkeepers
- 1. TVWD Demonstration Garden Remodel TVWD’s Water Efficient Demonstration Garden is an interactive educational tool to promote efficient use of water in the landscape. The District is currently remodeling the two acre garden to provide an even better example of how using water-efficient landscaping and irrigation techniques can result in a beautiful landscape while minimizing excess water used for irrigation. Highlights of the new and Demonstration Garden Schematic Design improved garden include: • Provides examples of attractive, durable and practical water conservation devices and sustainable landscape practices such as weather-based irrigation, drip irrigation and composted soil amendments • Demonstrates voluntary conservation practices that can provide long-term cost savings, reduced maintenance requirements and improved landscape health • The design arranges plants into communities of similar water, light and maintenance requirements incorporates both native and naturalized non-invasive species • Serves as an ‘outdoor classroom’ to facilitate District sponsored workshops and educational opportunities • Allows visitors to move about readily and accessibly in order to see, smell and touch a wide variety of native plants, shrubs, trees, and other landscape elements • Enhanced for local wildlife habitat Visit our new and improved Demonstration Garden at 1850 SW 170th Ave. in Beaverton.
