The scope for energy savings from energy managementLeonardo ENERGY
Energy management is a structured process through which organisations seek to optimise their energy use and whose definition and practice is codified through standards such as EN ISO 50001. It is an essential tool to deliver systemic level savings in how energy using capital is chosen and deployed but also, and importantly, with respect to how that capital is actually operated and managed. Despite its importance to overcome some of the more intractable barriers to energy efficiency it has received relatively modest attention within EU policy portfolios.
Simon will discuss the use of demand based ventilation controls in to save significant energy in commercial kitchens including areas such as applicability, savings potential, other benefits, operational considerations, measurement and verification and incorporating a number of real life case studies.

This workshop will focus on the types of energy procurement available including fixed, flexible,
portfolio and semi-flexible contracts. The aim is to guide you through the energy monitoring and
reduction services that are available to reduce consumption and associated costs, whilst providing
information on legislative obligations within the education sector. We will also discuss recent
examples of energy solutions implemented in a range of educational establishments across the UK.
Examples will include successes from Barking & Dagenham College, Craven College, New College

"Understanding the Carbon Cycle: Processes, Human Impacts, and Strategies for...MMariSelvam4
The carbon cycle is a critical component of Earth's environmental system, governing the movement and transformation of carbon through various reservoirs, including the atmosphere, oceans, soil, and living organisms. This complex cycle involves several key processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, decomposition, and carbon sequestration, each contributing to the regulation of carbon levels on the planet.
Human activities, particularly fossil fuel combustion and deforestation, have significantly altered the natural carbon cycle, leading to increased atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and driving climate change. Understanding the intricacies of the carbon cycle is essential for assessing the impacts of these changes and developing effective mitigation strategies.
By studying the carbon cycle, scientists can identify carbon sources and sinks, measure carbon fluxes, and predict future trends. This knowledge is crucial for crafting policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, enhancing carbon storage, and promoting sustainable practices. The carbon cycle's interplay with climate systems, ecosystems, and human activities underscores its importance in maintaining a stable and healthy planet.
In-depth exploration of the carbon cycle reveals the delicate balance required to sustain life and the urgent need to address anthropogenic influences. Through research, education, and policy, we can work towards restoring equilibrium in the carbon cycle and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
Characterization and the Kinetics of drying at the drying oven and with micro...Open Access Research Paper
The objective of this work is to contribute to valorization de Nephelium lappaceum by the characterization of kinetics of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum. The seeds were dehydrated until a constant mass respectively in a drying oven and a microwawe oven. The temperatures and the powers of drying are respectively: 50, 60 and 70°C and 140, 280 and 420 W. The results show that the curves of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum do not present a phase of constant kinetics. The coefficients of diffusion vary between 2.09.10-8 to 2.98. 10-8m-2/s in the interval of 50°C at 70°C and between 4.83×10-07 at 9.04×10-07 m-8/s for the powers going of 140 W with 420 W the relation between Arrhenius and a value of energy of activation of 16.49 kJ. mol-1 expressed the effect of the temperature on effective diffusivity.

UNDERSTANDING WHAT GREEN WASHING IS!.pdfJulietMogola
Many companies today use green washing to lure the public into thinking they are conserving the environment but in real sense they are doing more harm. There have been such several cases from very big companies here in Kenya and also globally. This ranges from various sectors from manufacturing and goes to consumer products. Educating people on greenwashing will enable people to make better choices based on their analysis and not on what they see on marketing sites.
2. Optimizing Energy Usage
For Maximum Profitability
Establishing good control on energy usage inside a restaurant
simplifies management of food safety compliance, reduces
equipment downtime and operating costs, increases useful life
for the equipment, optimizes utility procurement etc., all of
which go a long way in sustaining market leadership,
competitiveness and profitability.
Responsible restaurant owners and operators are setting
internal targets around reducing energy intensity & carbon
footprint, so that they make a positive environmental impact
in the communities they operate in and at the same time
create a positive brand impression that would appeal to an
increasingly eco-friendly consumer.
Wipro EcoEnergy –

Adding
Sustainability
To The Menu
Energy is the third largest variable cost in the
restaurant industry after raw materials and direct
labor, representing an average of 5% - 7% of the
company’s turnover depending on the format of the
business.
With rising prices that have increased on an average
of 30% over the last 5 years, energy costs have
become an important factor that needs to be
smartly managed towards profitable running of any
restaurant or café chain.
Also, increasing environmental regulation as well as
growing activism from watchdogs and Public
Interest Institutions is propelling restaurant
managements to take definitive actions to reduce
their energy footprint.
3. Energy consumption pattern across restaurants is different and is dependent on multiple factors viz. type of consumption equipment and their
condition (age, maintenance, technology, etc.), sales turnover & footfalls, seasonality, weather, type of retail outlet (layout, size, orientation etc.).
There are large fluctuations in energy consumption in a restaurant within a working day as well as during the week and across months as well.
While all these complexities exist at each individual site, the energy management challenge increases manifold when energy needs to be managed
across a network or chain involving thousands of restaurants.
Wipro EcoEnergy’s analytics-driven Energy Management Solution called Wipro Energy Manager (WEM) enables restaurants to monitor, control
and in turn optimize their energy consumption on a near real-time basis.

Best-in-class Energy Service Offering

4. The solution is built on a breakthrough approach called Service Window™. This framework allows for identifying the unique energy profiles that
a typical restaurant goes through during its operations. The energy profiles are results of the business volume, weather, equipment usage, menu
etc. We believe that energy profiles for each of these Service Windows (crew setup, breakfast, pre-lunch, lunch, post-lunch, dinner, post-dinner
and drive-through) would be different. These unique profiles get repeated every day with a fair degree of consistency. Using the Service Window™
framework, it is possible to align the business intensity (measured in guest count, sales etc.) with the energy intensity (measured in kWh).
Each restaurant experiences a number of Service Windows during a 24-hour period.
Significantly, large amount of energy gets consumed in Service Windows that generate very little revenue.
The number and duration of Service Windows depend on:
