In this presentation, we will discuss expanses and features of Sustainable development
Sustainable development is largely about people, their well-being, and equity in their relationships with each other, in a context where nature-society imbalances can threaten economic and social stability
Sustainable development is the idea that human societies must live and meet their needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
this presentation is the discussion between the relationship of environment and population as well as the adverse effect of overpopulation in the finite environment.
The PPT describes how the Economy and Environment interacted with each other. The environment and the economy are very closely related. The environment provides the resources for production and consumption in the economy and receives the waste from these activities.
These are the slides to the MGCY Capacity Building team's first webinar: SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT 101. They introduce "what is sustainable development" in a simple and friendly way which you can replicate!
Monitoring is an activity undertaken to provide specific information on the characteristics and functioning of environmental and social variables in space and time. Environmental monitoring compares impacts predicted in environmental impact assessment with those which actually occur during and after implementation, in order to assess whether the impact prediction process performs satisfactorily. In Kenya communities are encouraged take a leading role and responsibility to monitor project activities at all stages to ensure that the measures stipulated in the environmental management plan are adequate to mitigate adverse impacts or are attaining or fulfilling the anticipated benefits from the project
Monitoring is therefore undertaken after the project has begun to check the initial EIA predictions and determine whether further action is needed to abate or avoid pollution or environmental harm. It can also be done for purposes of conducting research or identifying patterns or trends which reflect the state of the environment. It can also be described measurement of the quality of the environment and each of its components, activities or natural and anthropogenic inputs which may affect the quality of the environment and the effects of such activities.
All monitoring strategies and programmes have reasons and justifications. The aim is to actually establish the current state of or trends in certain environmental parameters. In all cases the results of a monitoring process will be reviewed, analyzed statistically and published. The design of a monitoring program must therefore have regard to the final use of the data before monitoring actually starts.
The frequency of monitoring will vary from project to project. This depends on the nature of the project and severity of the environmental impacts.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. To Understand its Expanse and Features
• In this presentation we will
discuss about expanses and
features of Sustainable
development
• Here are the head points on
which I am going to present
in front of you
3. Introduction
The term sustainability in English is to hold up, to store, take care, sustain, to
keep it permanent, forever etc. Councils on universal level on Environmental
issues were held in many places. In Sustainable Development Council, financial
development, social equality and environmental conservation these three
formulas were used to carry out sustainable development and in this regard
there was majority of support.
Development is a frequent changing and continuous process "Development
means progress in lifestyle or prosperity". In this progress, education, health,
equal opportunities for all to get natural resources/needs, equal opportunities
for financial development, all these factors are included. In financial
development process, there is a need that one should be aware of the
responsibility to see that the environment is not polluted in anyway and
forever or else, we will have to face serious consequences of environmental
pollution.
• To think continuously about government and development, the United Nations in 1987 established "Universal
Environment and Development Commission. In its report, the concept of sustainable possession development was
presented in front of the world
• To create awareness on universal level, efforts were started to examine serious consequences about environment,
degradation, try to solve the problems, to suggest practical remedies. To use the resources carefully and to keep these
resources safe for the future generation
4. Concept of Sustainable Capacity Development
Development
Welfare of all
living beings
and human
society
To save the
natural
resources for
future
generation
Careful use of
natural
resources
Environmental Balance
Many intellectuals and scientists made efforts to present their definition in
various ways on national level.
The things which humans use in his surrounding are called resources. There
are two kinds of resources Renewable and Non-renewable resources.
Definition: Various definitions were presented by philosophers regarding
sustainable capacity development / protector ship development permanent
development.“
The present needs of human from natural origin are fulfilled such a way
that by its remedies, future generation can also use the natural resources
to fulfil their needs"- Burt land Commission
In this, stress is given to manage natural origin and natural resources
permanently.
"Sustainable Capacity Development means to fulfil the needs of this
generation without causing harm to various other natural resources".
"While making financial development, environmental balance is .to be
maintained and manage to sustain the existence of natural resources for
longer time.“
Sustainable development means maintaining environmental balance
permanently and to raise the level of lifestyle of human being, according to
changes in nature".
5. Sustainable Capacity Development ( New Concept )
Sustainable development is development that
meets the needs of the present without
compromising the ability of future generations to
meet their own needs.“
Regarding pollution control, it should be
controlled at a place from where the pollutants
come into existence. This strategically decision
was taken on a universal level, but still there is
no control in industrial sector. The area of
pollution increased and caused ill effects on
world wide financial transactions. Because of
this, in industrial sector, two programs were
stressed i.e.
1. To stop pollution,
2. To prepare environmental design to
decrease the level of pollution to zero in
industrial process.
Thinking from
Sustainable and
Cultural point of view
Environmental
measurement
To set physical and
natural environmental
values
Implementation of legal
and social problems
Environmental capacity
decision
Sustainable Capacity
Development
6. Scope of Sustainable Development
To make less use of natural resources or to support low cost material and cause harm to environment.
For this, it is necessary to spend less on these following points.
• Cottage industry.
• To use organic fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers for farming.
• To use biotic insecticides instead of chemical insecticides.
• To change the crop pattern.
• To protect bio-diversity.
• Government policies and environment. Development plan regarding
Moral values will be nurtured through these various programmes.
To create "Environmental Awareness" is the need of an hour. This NCERT has prepared a syllabus structure and started its implementation from
pre-primary level to higher education level.
• In pre-primary level, oral play, teamwork or play method technique is used and the seed of awareness regarding environment is sown.
• In primary level "Environmental Studies" is an independent subject which is included in the syllabus of 2012.
7. Opinion
Sustainable development is
the idea that human societies
must live and meet their needs
without compromising the
ability of future generations to
meet their own needs.
8. Conclusion
Sustainable development is
largely about people, their
well-being, and equity in their
relationships with each other,
in a context where nature-
society imbalances
can threaten economic and
social stability.
