Should Vaccines Be Mandatory In The United States
Immunizations should be mandatory in the United States because they do not cause harm to children.
According to The Food and Drug Administration, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
ensures the safety, effectiveness, and availability of vaccines for the United States. Before the FDA
licenses (approves) a vaccine, the vaccine is tested extensively by its manufacturer. FDA scientists and
medical professionals carefully evaluate all the available information about the vaccine to determine
its safety and effectiveness ( The Food and Drug Administration). Many people become concerned if
vaccines are safe or not. They think about if vaccines will make their children develop mental or even
health problems such as autism and asthma. Vaccines

Nursing Case Study African American Hypertension
African American female, 71 years old, has been admitted to the hospital from her primary care
provider ten days post op following a right below the knee amputation. Her only complaint is that of
abdmonial pain. Her vitals are as follows: BP 100/70, HR 122, RR 22, Temp 101.1, and oxygen level
96% on room air. Glucose level is 563mg/dl on glucometer and the patient states that she takes a
round white pill for her diabetes. She has also been diagnosed with hypertension in the past and takes
a white oval pill for it. Head to toe assessment that has been completed noted a foul smell omiting
from the bandage where the leg has been amputated. Clearly this patient is exhibiting clinical signs of
sepsis. The initial thought is that the source of infection is the surgical wound since the foul odor is
present. The next few hours are critical in initating treatment for sepsis. Multi organ failure can result

Once the patient is stabilized the nurse can begin to assess the cultural aspects of care for this patient.
Noting that the patient is African American the percentage of that ethnicity having adequate health
care and education is very low. The last admission may have very well left her without a leg and any
means to help care for it. Setting her up for another admission due to infection. She does have a
primary healthcare provider but as far as knowing the extent of her home care or education level the
patient could have been set up for failure. During the admission, it is the nurses job to educate the
patient when appropriate. Clearly, she needs teaching on the importance of knowing her medication,
signs and symptoms of infection, and taking proper care of a surgical site. Although since we do not
know exactly what her health insurance will and will not pay for it is important for the patient and
family to be properly educate before

Comparing The Truth About Leadership By James Kouzes And...
We have all been leaders and followers throughout history and our lives. When we were young we
followed those in leadership roles and as adults many of us have not only followed but also lead. The
question will remain as to why we want to follow some and abide to follow others. What does one
person have that the others do not that makes one want to conform to what that leader is selling?
James Kouzes and Barry Posner, the authors of The Truth About Leadership: The No Fads, Heart of
the Matter Facts You Need to Know uncover statistical and informational facts about leadership that
would benefit those seeking knowledge and those seeking informational skills needed to be a better
leader. This book is full of information that would benefit not only the new leaders but also the
seasoned ones that are willing to learn. Kouzes and Posner combine years of experience and statistics
to back up what they are conveying in this book. As they gathered their data regarding leadership, they
discovered that there were 10 patterns that kept emerging as the truths about leadership. I will attempt
to bring to the reader the 10 patterns or concepts regarding great leadership.
Concept Truth1: You Make a Difference
This concept may be one of the most important in my opinion. You have to believe that you are a
leader before you can actually be an effective leader. One has to believe you can make a difference.
Kouzes and Posner stated that many believe that leadership is primary found in

Second-Hand Smoke
The Effects of Second Hand Smoke Imagine yourself sitting down to dinner at a restaurant. You are
sitting down trying to enjoy your dinner when all you can smell is smoke. Not only are you just
breathing in the smoke, it is also damaging your body at the same time. Or imagine yourself at your
work place, whether it be a restaurant or office, and you are forced to breathe in second hand smoke
the entire time you are there. In this paper you will be informed of the harmful effects of second hand
smoke, and why smoking should be banned from all public places. When you are a smoker you are
making the decision to damage your own body, but little do you know you are also damaging

Annually, second hand smoke or environmental tobacco smoke also known as ETS, kills an estimated
35,000 people from heart disease, 3,000 from lung cancer, and 1,900 from sudden infant death

Dr. Norman H. Edelman, chief medical officer for the American Lung Association says, Second hand

cardiovascular effects on the lung (Reinberg).
Dr. David L. Katz, A clinical professor of public health, and director of the prevention research center
at Yale University School of Medicine expresses his opinion on public smoking in the following
passage. How can any society allow tobacco smoke to be imposed on innocent bystanders? We have
clear, convincing evidence that those who smoke are swinging a big stick indeed at the noses of those
of us who don t. While they should have autonomy over their choices, they should not have autonomy
over ours. Smoking in public places does not stop where my nose begins, and therefore it should be
banned. Not just in some states, but by

The, Dinner With Mary Morstan And Watson
Cognitive Psychology is the study of the human mind; it is how we reason, decide, and produce and
comprehend language. In order achieve this we use both mental representations and mental processes.
Like in any other situation, much of these cognitive functions are being used in the Sherlock s Holmes
YouTube video Dinner with Mary Morstan and Watson .
At the beginning of the clip, you can hear the noise of the restaurant. Holmes closes his eyes, then
shortly afterwards Watson calls his name. This redirects his attention to the source of the stimulus,
Watson. We refer to this phenomenon as the Cocktail Party Effect. This effect describes the brain s
ability to block out unimportant stimuli in order to focus upon more important stimuli. They are doing
this in the restaurant with a room filled with people; who are having their own separate conversations
yet they are still able to ignore background conversations and focus on theirs. Furthermore, the
Stoplight Theory indicated that our attention is invoked Like Spotlight that highlights information
within its beam, in this view, spatial attention selectively brings information within a circumscribed
region of space to awareness, and information out that region is more likely to be ignored. (Kosslyn,
2007, p. 130) Indicating that whatever falls within our region is our main focus of attention. In
addition, while Holmes is analyzing Mary, he is able to concentrate on individual bits of detail while
placing his awareness solely

Bilingualism Is A For A Regular Way Between Researchers...
To begin with, bilingualism is a term which is not used in a regular way between researchers and
theoreticians. For example Macnamara (1967; cited in Cummins and Swain, 1986:07) defines
bilinguals as those have at least one of the skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) even to a
lower degree in their second language. At the other end of the scale Oestreicher (1974; cited in
Cummins and Swain, 1986:07) defines bilinguals as those who show complete mastery of two
different languages without interference . According to Bloomfield (1933; cited in Romaine, 1989:10)
bilingualism is a native like control of two languages , it is the ability to speak two languages
perfectly. Furthermore, bilingualism was analyzed into four levels in another paper: individual, family,
societal, and school levels (McCarty, 2010). At the educational level, McCarty (2012) defines
bilingual education as bilingualism at the school level. It is not a matter of speaking two languages at
home, which is bilingualism at the family level. Bilingual education is teaching in two languages in a
school, more than one language as the medium of instruction, that is to say the use of another
language for students to learn regular school subjects. Additionally, Appel and Muysken (1987:60)
define bilingual education as the opportunity to be educated in two languages: the language of the
home and the language of other groups in the community. However, for them these two languages do

Descriptive Essay On A History Museum
I really want to go home, I said to myself. I was exhausted from cutting the vast amount of trees that
was for building my own house. I had never imagined that I was going to build my own house in the
middle of this unknown forest. Also, this unknown forest was magical. It has talking animals and
plants living in this forest. It is blood freezing cold and creepy in the night, but also interesting if you
try to enjoy the time you spend in this magical forest.
This whole journey started when I went on a field trip to the history museum with my classmates. It
had begun when Ms. Anderson had planned for our class to go on a field trip to the historical museum
in the magical forest, the day before.I was all lift up and prepared for this field trip. After a long hour

leaves, it was almost impossible to find any types of rocks. Unfortunately, I couldn t find any rocks

floor of the forest I missed my home with warm heat, comfortable bed, plenty of food, and the
happiness I had while I was with my family. In addition to that, I felt very lonely. Having to sleep

Star Fox Persuasive Speech
First off, I d like to thank Jim Sterling, a renowned game journalist for bringing this issue to my
attention.
So, Nintendo. We all love Nintendo. Most of us, I assume. For those of you who are unaware of what
Nintendo is, it is the beloved video game developer and publisher of such classics such as the
countless number of games in the Mario series, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, and of course,
Star Fox. Which is what we ll be discussing today. Star Fox Zero has recently been released, coming
home to reviews of about 7/10 across the board. Which is good. Not the best. Some would like to
argue a 7/10 is mediocre or average but I don t believe that. I think a 7/10 is a good solid, fun to play
game.
But that s the problem.
It s not that fun to play.
You see, Nintendo likes to be innovative for the sake of innovation. And that s why we haven t seen a
Star Fox title for a good while now. According to Shigeru Miyamoto, that s why a Star Fox title never
came out for the Wii. They couldn t be innovative. Now, I m all for innovation where it s due. But this
is not the way to go about it. And I m sure I can hear you know, What s so bad, exactly? Well I ll tell
you. Actually, let me ask you something. Hypothetically, if you had a Wii U, which, I m sure a few of

Snow Vacative Personal Narrative
The old brown snow lay on the side of the streets. A vast storm has passed Portland just a few days
ago. The weather was chilling and there was the scent of snow running through the air. Did you get
everything? my dad yelled to me. He was always sour when I pack my belongings to go on a trip. I sat
on the suitcase, trying to close it. It was as if the beast wouldn t close but finally did.
Get into the car, my mom screamed. I threw my bag into the trunk, took my seat, and we were off to
the airport. I pictured in my head how fun it will be on vacation in the Bahamas, but had *no idea
what was ahead of me.*
I hopped out of the car, grabbed my bag and ran into one of my favorite places, Portland International
Airport. My mom, dad, and I still thought of this being the best vacation of 2016. We checked in, went
through security, which was always a pain, and went to the gate. Step by step I made my way on the
plane and we were off to Denver to catch our next flight.
Inch by inch, the plane made it into Denver. I was amazed that planes can land in an inch layer of
snow. It was still pouring snow in Denver and didn t seem like it would stop. Finally, I took my seat
on the bench next to the gate eagerly waiting for the flight to go to New York which would then take
us to Bahamas.
Two hours later I hear on the intercom, The flight to New York is delayed for 1 hour. It was now 10pm
and the plane was delayed for 1 hour, but I looked pass this and only saw the destination.

With a 99.8 literacy rate, Cuba is ranked higher than both Britain and the United states. The reason for
its high literacy rate is because after the revolution, the government sent out students to go out and

Cubans made up most of the illiterate population, and historically they were always targeted, however
when the literacy campaign begin they were not forgotten. Education is viewed in Cuba as a basic

Enzyme And The Enzyme Of Enzyme Essay
Introduction:
An enzyme is a macromolecule that works as a catalyst and speeds up chemical reactions through a
substrate that binds to the active site of the enzyme. When this process occurs, the enzyme lowers the
activation energy needed. This allows the reactant molecules to reach a state where they can complete
a reaction in most temperatures. The enzyme is not consumed when a chemical reaction is taking
place, however, it s shape changes in order to create a proper space for a substrate to bind to. Since the
enzyme is not consumed in the process of reactions, it can begin to lower the activating energy of
another process as soon as the first process is complete and it has returned to its original shape.
Without the assistance of enzymes, the pathways of metabolism in humans would be obstructed
because every process would take so long (Smith et., 2015). For every reaction completed, a different,
specific enzyme is utilized. Therefore, each location of each enzyme in the cell is very specific. The
speed of the enzyme that is being utilized is dependent on factors that are found in the environment,
for example, pH, temperature and the specific chemical reaction that will be occurring. The rate that a
catalyst can be most beneficial with regard to temperature is directly proportional to the increase in
temperature until the optimal temperature is reached. However, after the optimal temperature is
reached, if the temperature continues to be increased, the rate of the

Challenges Faced United Arb Emirates (UAE) Health Care System
UAE Health Care System Strategy
To achieve anything you want it you must put strategy to how you can achieve it successfully, and that
s what United Arab Emirates (UAE) health care system did. The ambition of the UAE health care
system to become one of the favorite destinations for local patients as well as a center for international
medical tourists require high quality and cost effective procedure and treatment, that s what makes
UAE put long term strategy to achieve this aspiration (world health organization, 2005 2009). In order
to support the health care system, the UAE government increasingly focused its effort to attract special
high level health care providers to the UAE. However, despite the strong support of the UAE
government, health care providers, still facing major challenges to grow and operate in the Emarites.
There are several challenges faced UAE health care system, but the government and the health care
system reject Surrender and still confront challenges neither tiredness nor boredom from its side.
Challenges
One of the great challenges was faced health care development is the lack of standardization of
instructions and regulations across the UAE and the various stages of health care development in each
emirate. These challenges formed a huge handicap to the strategy of development of the health care
system. Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Authority of Abu Dhabi
(HADD), and The Ministry of Health are examples of the several

me to kick back and relax. A heavy and loud rock song for example, would not fall under my chill
playlist. A heavy rock song would be more suitable for the rock playlist that I have. Songs have
different characteristics, while also evoking different feelings within the those who listen. This fact
hints at the concept of subclasses and super classes. For example, the genre rock and roll could be the
super class of punk rock, because Rock and Roll is a fairly broad category of music and punk rock is a
more specific type or flavor of rock; thus showing how punk rock is a subclass of Rock and Roll.
Punk Rock is a category within a category of music. Rock and Roll demonstrates how a genre can
evolve from being relatively specific to generally broad as time progresses and new music is
introduced over the years. With the superclass of Rock and Roll at the top of the hierarchy, under it
could be other subclasses like hard rock, blues rock, pop rock, psychedelic rock, Christian rock, Latin
Rock, southern rock, etc. I would not consider my grouping of music to be mutually exclusive. For
instance, I may have one song that is on multiple playlists. The song Summer, by the artist Calvin
Harris, is on both my party playlist and my Electronic Dance Music playlist. This particular song
qualifies and meets the guidelines for both these playlists that I made. The type of song that I was
looking to add in each playlist was achieved. I would consider my grouping to be

Comparing Parents In The Glass Menagerie By James Williams
My parents love to live vicariously through me, especially my mother, and while I understand their
inclination to do this, it can make them a bit controlling of my actions. Williams exhibits in The Glass
Menagerie the damaging effects of overbearing parents on the mental and emotional growth of their
children. In the play, the mother inhibits the development of her children because she tries to control
her children s lives, which takes away the ability to become independent and focus on personal needs.
Amanda treats Laura like a child and constantly makes decisions for her, and she and keeps him from
enjoying his life. Amanda belittles Laura s self ownership which makes Laura immature and helpless
as an adult. When the subject of gentleman callers comes up, Amanda addresses Laura, saying, How
many do you suppose we re going to entertain this afternoon? [...] [reappearing, airily] What? No one
not one? You must be joking! [Laura nervously echoes her laugh] (Williams 18). Amanda is caught up
in her dreams of marriage for Laura, made clear by her enthusiastic tone and body language, but Laura
s uncomfortable laugh shows how she is not amused by her mother s aspirations. Amanda is only
focused on what she wants for Laura, but she should really be concerned with what Laura wants for
herself. In addition, Amanda cannot accept the fact that her daughter is not going to have any suitors;
she denies reality and tries to bring Laura into her world of illusions. This irresponsible parenting
causes Laura to become the childish adult that she is. When Amanda questions where Laura was going
instead of business college, Laura explains that, I went in the art museum and the bird houses at the
Zoo. I visited the penguins every day! [...] Lately I ve been spending most of my afternoons in the
Jewel Box, that big glass house where they raise the tropical flowers (21). Laura is twenty three years
old and she is getting excited about visiting attractions meant for kids. She would rather explore the
Zoo, an art museum, or a greenhouse than attend college, exhibiting her immature and irresponsible
mindset. This juvenile behavior is what leads to Laura s helplessness. While on the fire escape,
Amanda tells Laura to make a

Exrna Essay
Aim 2 is to test the hypothesis that exRNA produced by Cn during host infection of the CNS is a
detectable molecular biomarker for cryptococcal infection. It is well known that physiological
differences exist between pathogens grown during in vitro versus in vivo conditions. In Cn,
differences exist in the production of virulence factors such as melanin and capsule in the laboratory
under nutrient rich conditions compared to tissue culture medium and in the host. Furthermore, these
physiological differences affect the organism s sensitivity to antifungal drugs, and are also likely to
affect production of biomarkers such as exRNAs [29]. A significant body of data is emerging that

Similarities Between Wordsworth And Muir
Two talented literary authors William Wordsworth and John Muir express their emotions towards
through their writing; their belletristic stories depict how their experiences with nature positively
impacted their lives while giving them constant memories that will stay with them forever. Both
Wordsworth and Muir used syntax and diction to verbalize their passionate relationship towards
nature.
In I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud William Wordsworth writes of a lonely day while out for a walk;
until he stumbles across a bed of beautiful golden daffodils dancing in the breeze.
Wordsworth writes: A poet could not be but gay, in such a jocund company (stanza 3). In this passage,
Wordsworth uses words like jocund, and gay to express the joy he felt when he found the beautiful
daffodils. Wordsworth also uses the syntax in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Muir fills with excitement from his discovery; he describes the joy he felt over calypso in the
following quote: It seemed the most spiritual of all the flower people I had ever met. I sat down beside
it and fairly cried for joy . In this passage, Muir used words like spiritual to explain Calypso s beauty
and used the phrase fairly cried for joy to express what great happiness they had flower brought to
him.
After reading and analyzing Wordsworth s poem and Muir s essay, I can see that both men use writing
as a creative way to express their love for nature all around them.
In Wordsworth s poem, he used syntax and diction to show how the flowers changed his once
depressed lonely mood to positive and grateful. While in Muir s essay, he also uses diction to tell his
story of finding calypso and his overwhelming sense of happiness when he finally sat by the beautiful
flower.
In conclusion, both John Muir s and William Wordsworth s stories depict nature in different ways, but
it s their shared love for writing and appreciation for nature that makes them one and the same with

Race, Racial, And Race Relations
Every individual has a particular definition of race and a distinct view of race relations in America
today, because every individual s reality is different and therefore their perception is different as well.
With that in mind, it becomes clear that the best way to understand race relations better is to
understand what another person s thoughts are on the matter. This interview paper sheds light onto
another s understanding and thoughts regarding race relations in America. I can not sate the true
identity of the interviewee in this paper, so for all intents and purposes his name will be George. My

Around the same time, he began to notice other races and his classmates began to notice his race and
comment on it. He said how this memory resonates with him because it was the first time he felt out of
place because of something he couldn t control. George further explained the feeling as knowing on
some level that everything was created with someone that was not him in mind, that society was not
best fit for him to succeed. A second early childhood experience George remembers well is having a
sit down conversation with his family where they told him that some people would discriminate
against him and hate him just for the color of his skin. This was a very startling and nerve racking
conversation for a young child to have. George feels that race has shaped his upbringing from the very
start and these are just a few of the moments where race played a pivotal role in his early life. He
believes that there is an innumerable amount of examples like these from his preschool days that are
stuck in his subconscious. As George grew older he began to notice racial divides more and more in
his everyday life. One incident stands out above the rest for him. It was a spring afternoon and George
was walking to lacrosse practice after stopping by McDonalds to grab a bite to eat. While walking
down the road, George was approached by a police officer. This police officer stopped George and

Institute of Contemporary Art
Institute of Contemporary Art
How do you make a building for contemporary art that stays contemporary in the future without
stooping to a neutral language? And how do you attract a big public without compromising the selfish,
private, exclusive time we all want to have in a museum? These questions, put forward by Elizabeth
Diller of Diller Scofidio + Renfro, represent the urbanistic motivation supporting the construction of
Boston s Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA). In such a manner Boston s ICA engages, not only with
the urban citizen, but also the urban landscape in which the site is located. The ICA conveys the idea
of architecture as art in itself. As a presenter of art to the urban citizen and because of its open design,
the inside allows the citizens to not only appreciate the art within the building but also see the art of
the building s natural environment and setting.
Boston s ICA situated at Fan Pier in South Boston represents a shift from preconceived architectural
constructs to more innovative forms. The building s position in the middle of a currently undeveloped
urban landscape gives it a striking entity that engages the viewer in a way that facilitates its various
functions as a contemporary art museum. Furthermore its structure and location alter the population s
understanding of museum architecture as it has traditionally been defined, that it is a shell that
contains significant artistic work. A visual paradox becomes evident between

Essay On Lipid Based Delivery System
In recent years, a great deal of interest has been focussed on lipid based carrier systems. The most
popular approach is the incorporation of the active poorly water soluble component into inert lipid
vehicles such as oils, surfactant dispersions, solid dispersions, solid lipid nanoparticles, emulsions,
micro emulsions, Nano emulsions, self emulsifying formulations (SEF), micro/nanoemulsifying
formulations, and liposomes.
The essential component of activity by which a lipid formulation prompts enhanced bioavailability is
typically avoidance of a slow dissolution process which constrains the bioavailability of hydrophobic
drugs from solid dose frames (Shweta Gupta, 2013). Preferably the formulation allows the drug to
remain in a dissolved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless of the extensive potential that these lipid excipients offer, not very many lipids based
Formulations have achieved the pharmaceutical commercial place. This might be because of the
inadequate data with respect to the generally complex physical science of lipids and worries about
figured drugs substance and physical stability. In addition to these concerns, the interaction of a lipid
based formulation with the GI condition and its effect on drug absorption is also important. For
example, edible lipids have been appeared to be extensively more productive enhancers of poorly
soluble drug ingestion, as compared to nondigestible lipids (e.g., liquid paraffin). Unsaturated fat
chain length of the lipid likewise impacts drug absorption. Both long and medium chain triglyceride
oils with various degrees of saturation have been utilized for the design of self emulsifying
formulations.
2. Surfactants: The self emulsifying properties require the incorporation of relatively large amounts of
surfactant in the formulation in addition to the oily drug carrier vehicle. The surfactants may improve
the affinity between lipids and intestinal membrane or increase the permeability of the intestinal
membrane (Gershanik T,

The Ethics Of A Systematic Disaster Plan
When a mass casualty has stricken the nation such as the incidents of 9/11, the plane crash of a TWA
800, or the Oklahoma City bombing; each incident involved some level of planning after the incident
took place. The planning process for managing an emergency has to take into considerations certain
factors such as the level of the devastation, what resources are needed, and how to eliminate the
likelihood of the same incident from occurring again. The basis of every decision emergency
managers will need to make revolve around ethical decisions when conducting the planning process.
Ethics is defined as the moral principles that govern a person s or group s behavior (Oxford
Dictionary, n.d.). As it relates to first responders and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Will funding go to areas where there is a least likely chance of restoration or does funding go to those
areas where there is a better chance of rescue? There is an ethical duty owed to citizens during a mass
casualty especially during the decision making process because every life should matter regardless of
the cost on the local, state, or federal level. When addressing concerns for impoverished areas, special
consideration should be a concern for many emergency managers before an incident would to hit the
community (Danz, 2014).
In the realm of emergency management, there are five ethical decision making theories that are used
as a guide when developing an emergency management and preparedness plan. There theories are the
utilitarian approach, rights approach, fairness or justice approach, common good approach, and the
virtue approach. Each theory is designed with a specific end goal in mind while taking into account
the various concerns regarding funding, resources, and the rescue/recovery phases. The utilitarian
approach emphasizes on the ethical actions that provide the most good with the least amount of harm
for those affected during an emergency such as employees, customers, and the community (Velasquez,
Andre, Shanks, Meyer, S.J., 2014).
The rights approach suggests that ethical actions are done so, which best protects and respects the
moral rights of those affected. This theory focuses on the belief that humans have dignity based

This essay will then evaluate the key studies within these two models and explain the strengths and
weaknesses of the main theories.
The final part of this essay will be to examine the similarities and differences between the two models.

The existence of sensory memory was proven by Sperling (1960), in this experiment Sperling
discovered that after showing the participants a series of letters for less than a second they where then
asked to recall as many letters as possible but on average they only could recall about 36%. According
to Lloyd et al (1984) about 5% of all of a persons memories that are stored in their sensory memory
are transferred to their short term memory.
The short term memory allows a person to store the information for long enough for it to be used, the
short term memory can also be called the working memory however this term later came to have a
different meaning. The short term memory however only has a limited capacity to store information;
Miller (1956) claims that in order to save space in a person s short term memory they chunk
information together but despite this space saving the short term memory can only hold seven plus or
minus two of these chunks of information. According to Atkinson and Shiffrin (1971) this information
can be stored unaided for about 15 30 seconds, this time frame can be extended by rehearsal.
It is commonly accepted that a person s long term memory has an unlimited capacity to store
information; this information can effectively be stored for the persons entire life if needed. Bower
(1975) claims that among other information that is stored within a person s long term memory are five
key pieces of information. A spatial model of the world

The Most Iconic Civil Rights Movement Influencers Of All...
To begin my essay, I would like to start off with arguably the most iconic civil rights movement
influencers of all time, Billie Holiday. Eleanora Fagan was born on April 7, 1915 and is from the
Quaker City formally known as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Eleanora childhood could be best
described as unsteady, at times. During these trying points in her life, Eleanora enjoyed singing along
to records and escape the harsh reality of her life. When she made the move to New York with her

She began to play piano at her father s church for some time. Nina dreamed of becoming a pioneer

she caught the attention of several labels. One of Simones most famous and controversial pieces of art

white listeners but strengthening her position within the civil rights movement. Nina Simones
Mississippi Goddam was a track that the artist wrote following the horrific events that took place in

African American women. Enraged, Simone retaliated by doing what she does best, music. She

Should Bartenders Be Held Responsible For Their Positions
What is a bartender? Merriam Webster states it s a person who mixes and serves alcoholic drinks at a
bar. Nowhere in the definition does it say, Attend to behavior , or, Watch for drunken disorder.
Bartenders are those that fill orders of patrons at a bar itself or are given a beverage order by a waiter
or a waitress that he or she will pick up and serve to the patron. (Benson, Beth). Being a bartender
takes patience, and a great deal of responsibility. A job is a job no matter what the job is. If he or she is
hired for a position, he or she is obligated to do what is required of the position. Bartenders should not
be held responsible for the behavior of their patrons. Despite the fact that patron s feel that bartenders

In many cases, when a bartender refuses to serve a patron who is under the influence, it becomes a
problem and they get offended. (Killgannon, Corey). Patrons start to become irate, and not aware of
their behavior. In most states, bartenders are required by law to cut you off if you ve had too much to
drink....you re having trouble walking, talking or even just sitting there. (Bailey, Kristen). In addition
to bartenders not being compensated to babysit adults, but rather bartend, patrons should be aware of
his or her drinking limits. A countless number of people may blame their drunken state on the
bartender who shoved drinks down their throats, however, that does not happen. Bartenders do not
force drinks on people, only provide what is asked. Some may order drinks one by one; on the other
hand, one may order drinks all at one time. It is a case by case basis if the bartender will provide a
patron with more than one drink at a time. Your body puts out serious and obvious warning signs after
that amount of alcohol has been consumed, such as passing out and vomiting. (Wagner, Tom). Many
bartenders assume orders placed for more than one drink are for the patron s party and not for that
patron alone. Bartenders will not guess how much alcohol a patron has already had when they go to
the bar. Majority of bartenders will server his customer as if he has not had anything to drink, besides
what he has put in front of

Glucose level is 563mg/dl on glucometer and the patient states that she takes a round white pill for her diabetes. She has also been diagnosed with hypertension in the past and takes a white oval pill for it. Head to toe assessment that has been completed noted a foul smell omiting from the bandage where the leg has been amputated. Clearly this patient is exhibiting clinical signs of sepsis. The initial thought is that the source of infection is the surgical wound since the foul odor is present. The next few hours are critical in initating treatment for sepsis. • 4. Comparing The Truth About Leadership By James Kouzes And... We have all been leaders and followers throughout history and our lives. When we were young we followed those in leadership roles and as adults many of us have not only followed but also lead. The question will remain as to why we want to follow some and abide to follow others. What does one person have that the others do not that makes one want to conform to what that leader is selling? James Kouzes and Barry Posner, the authors of The Truth About Leadership: The No Fads, Heart of the Matter Facts You Need to Know uncover statistical and informational facts about leadership that would benefit those seeking knowledge and those seeking informational skills needed to be a better leader. This book is full of information that would benefit not only the new leaders but also the seasoned ones that are willing to learn. Kouzes and Posner combine years of experience and statistics to back up what they are conveying in this book. As they gathered their data regarding leadership, they discovered that there were 10 patterns that kept emerging as the truths about leadership. I will attempt to bring to the reader the 10 patterns or concepts regarding great leadership. Concept Truth1: You Make a Difference This concept may be one of the most important in my opinion. You have to believe that you are a leader before you can actually be an effective leader. One has to believe you can make a difference. Not only are you just breathing in the smoke, it is also damaging your body at the same time. Or imagine yourself at your work place, whether it be a restaurant or office, and you are forced to breathe in second hand smoke the entire time you are there. In this paper you will be informed of the harmful effects of second hand smoke, and why smoking should be banned from all public places. When you are a smoker you are making the decision to damage your own body, but little do you know you are also damaging everyone else s body that you are in the room with. John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Annually, second hand smoke or environmental tobacco smoke also known as ETS, kills an estimated 35,000 people from heart disease, 3,000 from lung cancer, and 1,900 from sudden infant death syndrome while being responsible for almost 10,000 low birth weight babies, 400,000 episodes of asthma in children, and 800,000 cases of ear infections. That s on top of 400,000 deaths in smokers themselves annually in the U.S. (Messmer). Amway4 Dr. Norman H. Edelman, chief medical officer for the American Lung Association says, Second hand smoke disables and kills many people by virtue of its cardiovascular effects and also by virtue of its cardiovascular effects on the lung (Reinberg). Dr. David L. Katz, A clinical professor of public health, and director of the prevention research center at Yale University School of Medicine expresses his opinion on public smoking in the following passage. How can any society allow tobacco smoke to be imposed on innocent bystanders? We have clear, convincing evidence that those who smoke are swinging a big stick indeed at the noses of those of us who don t. While they should have autonomy over their choices, they should not have autonomy over ours. Smoking in public places does not stop where my nose begins, and therefore it should be banned. • 6. The, Dinner With Mary Morstan And Watson Cognitive Psychology is the study of the human mind; it is how we reason, decide, and produce and comprehend language. In order achieve this we use both mental representations and mental processes. Like in any other situation, much of these cognitive functions are being used in the Sherlock s Holmes YouTube video Dinner with Mary Morstan and Watson . At the beginning of the clip, you can hear the noise of the restaurant. Holmes closes his eyes, then shortly afterwards Watson calls his name. This redirects his attention to the source of the stimulus, Watson. We refer to this phenomenon as the Cocktail Party Effect. This effect describes the brain s ability to block out unimportant stimuli in order to focus upon more important stimuli. They are doing this in the restaurant with a room filled with people; who are having their own separate conversations yet they are still able to ignore background conversations and focus on theirs. Furthermore, the Stoplight Theory indicated that our attention is invoked Like Spotlight that highlights information within its beam, in this view, spatial attention selectively brings information within a circumscribed region of space to awareness, and information out that region is more likely to be ignored. (Kosslyn, 2007, p. 130) Indicating that whatever falls within our region is our main focus of attention. For example Macnamara (1967; cited in Cummins and Swain, 1986:07) defines bilinguals as those have at least one of the skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) even to a lower degree in their second language. At the other end of the scale Oestreicher (1974; cited in Cummins and Swain, 1986:07) defines bilinguals as those who show complete mastery of two different languages without interference . According to Bloomfield (1933; cited in Romaine, 1989:10) bilingualism is a native like control of two languages , it is the ability to speak two languages perfectly. Furthermore, bilingualism was analyzed into four levels in another paper: individual, family, societal, and school levels (McCarty, 2010). At the educational level, McCarty (2012) defines bilingual education as bilingualism at the school level. It is not a matter of speaking two languages at home, which is bilingualism at the family level. Bilingual education is teaching in two languages in a school, more than one language as the medium of instruction, that is to say the use of another language for students to learn regular school subjects. Additionally, Appel and Muysken (1987:60) define bilingual education as the opportunity to be educated in two languages: the language of the home and the language of other groups in the community. • 10. Descriptive Essay On A History Museum I really want to go home, I said to myself. I was exhausted from cutting the vast amount of trees that was for building my own house. I had never imagined that I was going to build my own house in the middle of this unknown forest. Also, this unknown forest was magical. It has talking animals and plants living in this forest. It is blood freezing cold and creepy in the night, but also interesting if you try to enjoy the time you spend in this magical forest. Most of us, I assume. For those of you who are unaware of what Nintendo is, it is the beloved video game developer and publisher of such classics such as the countless number of games in the Mario series, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, and of course, Star Fox. Which is what we ll be discussing today. Star Fox Zero has recently been released, coming home to reviews of about 7/10 across the board. Which is good. Not the best. Some would like to argue a 7/10 is mediocre or average but I don t believe that. I think a 7/10 is a good solid, fun to play game. But that s the problem. It s not that fun to play. You see, Nintendo likes to be innovative for the sake of innovation. And that s why we haven t seen a Star Fox title for a good while now. The weather was chilling and there was the scent of snow running through the air. Did you get everything? my dad yelled to me. He was always sour when I pack my belongings to go on a trip. I sat on the suitcase, trying to close it. It was as if the beast wouldn t close but finally did. Get into the car, my mom screamed. • 16. Enzyme And The Enzyme Of Enzyme Essay Introduction: An enzyme is a macromolecule that works as a catalyst and speeds up chemical reactions through a substrate that binds to the active site of the enzyme. When this process occurs, the enzyme lowers the activation energy needed. This allows the reactant molecules to reach a state where they can complete a reaction in most temperatures. The enzyme is not consumed when a chemical reaction is taking place, however, it s shape changes in order to create a proper space for a substrate to bind to. Since the enzyme is not consumed in the process of reactions, it can begin to lower the activating energy of another process as soon as the first process is complete and it has returned to its original shape. Without the assistance of enzymes, the pathways of metabolism in humans would be obstructed because every process would take so long (Smith et., 2015). For every reaction completed, a different, specific enzyme is utilized. Therefore, each location of each enzyme in the cell is very specific. The speed of the enzyme that is being utilized is dependent on factors that are found in the environment, for example, pH, temperature and the specific chemical reaction that will be occurring. The rate that a catalyst can be most beneficial with regard to temperature is directly proportional to the increase in temperature until the optimal temperature is reached. However, after the optimal temperature is reached, if the temperature continues to be increased, the rate of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A heavy rock song would be more suitable for the rock playlist that I have. Songs have different characteristics, while also evoking different feelings within the those who listen. This fact hints at the concept of subclasses and super classes. For example, the genre rock and roll could be the super class of punk rock, because Rock and Roll is a fairly broad category of music and punk rock is a more specific type or flavor of rock; thus showing how punk rock is a subclass of Rock and Roll. In conclusion, both John Muir s and William Wordsworth s stories depict nature in different ways, but it s their shared love for writing and appreciation for nature that makes them one and the same with each ... • 27. Race, Racial, And Race Relations Every individual has a particular definition of race and a distinct view of race relations in America today, because every individual s reality is different and therefore their perception is different as well. With that in mind, it becomes clear that the best way to understand race relations better is to understand what another person s thoughts are on the matter. This interview paper sheds light onto another s understanding and thoughts regarding race relations in America. I can not sate the true identity of the interviewee in this paper, so for all intents and purposes his name will be George. My interview with George was centered on how race has played a part in his life as a black man and where he thought race relations are in our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Around the same time, he began to notice other races and his classmates began to notice his race and comment on it. He said how this memory resonates with him because it was the first time he felt out of place because of something he couldn t control. George further explained the feeling as knowing on some level that everything was created with someone that was not him in mind, that society was not best fit for him to succeed. A second early childhood experience George remembers well is having a sit down conversation with his family where they told him that some people would discriminate against him and hate him just for the color of his skin. This was a very startling and nerve racking conversation for a young child to have. George feels that race has shaped his upbringing from the very start and these are just a few of the moments where race played a pivotal role in his early life. He believes that there is an innumerable amount of examples like these from his preschool days that are stuck in his subconscious. As George grew older he began to notice racial divides more and more in his everyday life. One incident stands out above the rest for him. It was a spring afternoon and George was walking to lacrosse practice after stopping by McDonalds to grab a bite to eat. While walking down the road, George was approached by a police officer. • 28. Institute of Contemporary Art Institute of Contemporary Art How do you make a building for contemporary art that stays contemporary in the future without stooping to a neutral language? And how do you attract a big public without compromising the selfish, private, exclusive time we all want to have in a museum? These questions, put forward by Elizabeth Diller of Diller Scofidio + Renfro, represent the urbanistic motivation supporting the construction of Boston s Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA). In such a manner Boston s ICA engages, not only with the urban citizen, but also the urban landscape in which the site is located. The ICA conveys the idea of architecture as art in itself. As a presenter of art to the urban citizen and because of its open design, the inside allows the citizens to not only appreciate the art within the building but also see the art of the building s natural environment and setting. Boston s ICA situated at Fan Pier in South Boston represents a shift from preconceived architectural constructs to more innovative forms. The building s position in the middle of a currently undeveloped urban landscape gives it a striking entity that engages the viewer in a way that facilitates its various functions as a contemporary art museum. Furthermore its structure and location alter the population s understanding of museum architecture as it has traditionally been defined, that it is a shell that contains significant artistic work. Mills (1836 1921) Hiram Mills is considered to have pioneered the development of sanitary engineering (Calvo 1). During his time, he served as one of the chief engineers who made improvements in water quality by employing a broad array of water engineering concepts ranging from filtration to treatment. On the river banks of Merrimack, Mills succeed in developing the first slow sand filtration system. He demonstrated how the proposed technology could be used to eliminate bacteria from drinking water. In 1975, a national historic civil engineering landmark based on Mill s work was designated at Lawrence s experiment station. 2. • 30. Essay On Lipid Based Delivery System In recent years, a great deal of interest has been focussed on lipid based carrier systems. The most popular approach is the incorporation of the active poorly water soluble component into inert lipid vehicles such as oils, surfactant dispersions, solid dispersions, solid lipid nanoparticles, emulsions, micro emulsions, Nano emulsions, self emulsifying formulations (SEF), micro/nanoemulsifying formulations, and liposomes. The essential component of activity by which a lipid formulation prompts enhanced bioavailability is typically avoidance of a slow dissolution process which constrains the bioavailability of hydrophobic drugs from solid dose frames (Shweta Gupta, 2013). Preferably the formulation allows the drug to remain in a dissolved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Regardless of the extensive potential that these lipid excipients offer, not very many lipids based Formulations have achieved the pharmaceutical commercial place. This might be because of the inadequate data with respect to the generally complex physical science of lipids and worries about figured drugs substance and physical stability. In addition to these concerns, the interaction of a lipid based formulation with the GI condition and its effect on drug absorption is also important. For example, edible lipids have been appeared to be extensively more productive enhancers of poorly soluble drug ingestion, as compared to nondigestible lipids (e.g., liquid paraffin). Unsaturated fat chain length of the lipid likewise impacts drug absorption. Both long and medium chain triglyceride oils with various degrees of saturation have been utilized for the design of self emulsifying formulations. 2. Surfactants: The self emulsifying properties require the incorporation of relatively large amounts of surfactant in the formulation in addition to the oily drug carrier vehicle. The surfactants may improve the affinity between lipids and intestinal membrane or increase the permeability of the intestinal membrane (Gershanik T, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Ethics Of A Systematic Disaster Plan When a mass casualty has stricken the nation such as the incidents of 9/11, the plane crash of a TWA 800, or the Oklahoma City bombing; each incident involved some level of planning after the incident took place. The planning process for managing an emergency has to take into considerations certain factors such as the level of the devastation, what resources are needed, and how to eliminate the likelihood of the same incident from occurring again. The basis of every decision emergency managers will need to make revolve around ethical decisions when conducting the planning process. Ethics is defined as the moral principles that govern a person s or group s behavior (Oxford Dictionary, n.d.). As it relates to first responders and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Will funding go to areas where there is a least likely chance of restoration or does funding go to those areas where there is a better chance of rescue? There is an ethical duty owed to citizens during a mass casualty especially during the decision making process because every life should matter regardless of the cost on the local, state, or federal level. When addressing concerns for impoverished areas, special consideration should be a concern for many emergency managers before an incident would to hit the community (Danz, 2014). In the realm of emergency management, there are five ethical decision making theories that are used as a guide when developing an emergency management and preparedness plan. There theories are the utilitarian approach, rights approach, fairness or justice approach, common good approach, and the virtue approach. Each theory is designed with a specific end goal in mind while taking into account the various concerns regarding funding, resources, and the rescue/recovery phases. The utilitarian approach emphasizes on the ethical actions that provide the most good with the least amount of harm for those affected during an emergency such as employees, customers, and the community (Velasquez, Andre, Shanks, Meyer, S.J., 2014). The rights approach suggests that ethical actions are done so, which best protects and respects the moral rights of those affected. This essay will firstly briefly describe the theories and important facts about the original multi store model of memory (MSM) and the working memory model (WMM). This essay will then evaluate the key studies within these two models and explain the strengths and weaknesses of the main theories. The final part of this essay will be to examine the similarities and differences between the two models. The first issue that needs to be addressed however is what exactly is memory? Without memory we would be servants of the moment, with nothing but our innate reflexes to help us deal with the world. There would be no language, no art, no science, no ... The existence of sensory memory was proven by Sperling (1960), in this experiment Sperling discovered that after showing the participants a series of letters for less than a second they where then asked to recall as many letters as possible but on average they only could recall about 36%. According to Lloyd et al (1984) about 5% of all of a persons memories that are stored in their sensory memory are transferred to their short term memory. The short term memory allows a person to store the information for long enough for it to be used, the short term memory can also be called the working memory however this term later came to have a different meaning. The short term memory however only has a limited capacity to store information; Miller (1956) claims that in order to save space in a person s short term memory they chunk information together but despite this space saving the short term memory can only hold seven plus or minus two of these chunks of information. According to Atkinson and Shiffrin (1971) this information can be stored unaided for about 15 30 seconds, this time frame can be extended by rehearsal. It is commonly accepted that a person s long term memory has an unlimited capacity to store information; this information can effectively be stored for the persons entire life if needed. Bower (1975) claims that among other information that is stored within a person s long term memory are five key pieces of information. A spatial model of the world ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To begin my essay, I would like to start off with arguably the most iconic civil rights movement influencers of all time, Billie Holiday. Eleanora Fagan was born on April 7, 1915 and is from the Quaker City formally known as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Eleanora childhood could be best described as unsteady, at times. During these trying points in her life, Eleanora enjoyed singing along to records and escape the harsh reality of her life. When she made the move to New York with her mother around the age of 15, she began to perform at local clubs under the name Billie . One of Simones most famous and controversial pieces of art is the track titles Mississippi Goddam . This track rose to fame by unsettling her relationship with white listeners but strengthening her position within the civil rights movement. Nina Simones Mississippi Goddam was a track that the artist wrote following the horrific events that took place in Mississippi and Alabama. In Mississippi, a prominent civil rights activist named Medgar Evars was murdered. Meanwhile in Birmingham, Alabama a church was bombed taking the lives of four young African American women. Enraged, Simone retaliated by doing what she does best, music. She debuted the song at New York in Carnegie Hall to hundreds of listeners. Simone was destined to bring the truth of the horrors that occurred to her predominantly white crowd. • 36. Should Bartenders Be Held Responsible For Their Positions What is a bartender? Merriam Webster states it s a person who mixes and serves alcoholic drinks at a bar. Nowhere in the definition does it say, Attend to behavior , or, Watch for drunken disorder. Bartenders are those that fill orders of patrons at a bar itself or are given a beverage order by a waiter or a waitress that he or she will pick up and serve to the patron. (Benson, Beth). Being a bartender takes patience, and a great deal of responsibility. A job is a job no matter what the job is. In many cases, when a bartender refuses to serve a patron who is under the influence, it becomes a problem and they get offended. (Killgannon, Corey). Patrons start to become irate, and not aware of their behavior. In most states, bartenders are required by law to cut you off if you ve had too much to drink....you re having trouble walking, talking or even just sitting there. (Bailey, Kristen). In addition to bartenders not being compensated to babysit adults, but rather bartend, patrons should be aware of his or her drinking limits. A countless number of people may blame their drunken state on the bartender who shoved drinks down their throats, however, that does not happen. Bartenders do not force drinks on people, only provide what is asked. Some may order drinks one by one; on the other hand, one may order drinks all at one time. It is a case by case basis if the bartender will provide a patron with more than one drink at a time. Your body puts out serious and obvious warning signs after that amount of alcohol has been consumed, such as passing out and vomiting. (Wagner, Tom). Many bartenders assume orders placed for more than one drink are for the patron s party and not for that patron alone.
