2013-14 was 86.4 Billion US$ which is forecasted to increase to 99.0
Billion US$.
 There would be over 2.2 lakh people working in this field over the
next three years in the 8500-9000 consultancy firms across the
country.
MECON corresponds to the engineering consultancy services.
Company profile
 It is a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Steel of the Government
of India.
Began in 1959 as the Central Engineering and Designing Bureau (CEDB) of
the Hindustan Steel limited (HSL), the first public sector steel company.
Subsequently, CEDB grew as Metallurgical and engineering consultant
(MECON), a subsidiary of the Steel authority of India limited(SAIL) in 1973. It
later became an autonomous company reporting to the ministry of steel in 1978

It was found that people were always overburdened and the employees in the
marketing section were less.
Secondly there were instances of MECON loosing tenders to competitors
Thirdly there was a need of searching for more avenues of working for MECON.

already laid down the biggest transportation need of the early 21st century of INDIA by planning
the Golden quadrilateral roadways which connects India’ four major cities and links various
smaller cities to them
