Independent – An independent company is a company that’s not affiliated with
other working companies so they are not owned by another company given why
its an independent company. Working title was an independent company but
now it is partnered with and owned by Universal Studious. Working title was
founded in 1983. It is co-chaired by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner since 1992 and is
one of the world leading film productions industries. They have made over 100
films that have grossed 6 billion worldwide and have won 11 academy awards,
38 BAFTA awards and a variety of prizes at the Cannes and Berlin international
film festivals.
Collaborations – Working title has worked beside the company universal
pictures when producing the film contraband. Working title produced the film
while Universal pictures distributed it.
Other films working title have collaborated with universal pictures also studio
canal are films like Hot Fuzz, Legend, The World Ends and more.
Funding -
Their funding for producing comes from a few companies such as universal
pictures who help fund massive amounts to working title movies. The Budget for
working title is $U35 million. So in terms of getting money for funding Bevan and
Fellner often work with NBCUniversal (parent company). Companies like the UK
Film Council, BBC, BFI and Screen West Midlands normally fund Working title
Films for their films but most don’t make profit from their films,
Corporate involvement- corporate involvement is where a company gets money
from businesses to fund their film. They will pitch their film to these businesses
and they can get money by persuading these businesses to invest into their film
or though tax breaks.
