What was this task based on? ,[object Object],Still images by Noriane Atahy and Mathew
This was our first picture. In this picture we see a girl (noriane) packing away from a lesson which has just ended, looking away from the camera. This is a medium shot as the focus is sitting down and , we thought that anything underneath the table wasn’t important. We decided to use this kind of shot because we thought it helps make the person in the picture stand out as well as her action because of the amount of thirds she takes up in the frame. This was the second picture we took. As we can see it’s a close up a hand holding a handle/ opening a door. This shot was used to emphasise on the importance of this action, because the concept of our story was someone leaving a classroom and this represents, leaving. The hand takes up most of the frame, also to represent its importance.
This third picture shows (noriane) after leaving the classroom in the corridors. To beginning with we once again have made her the main focus of the frame, this goes on throughout our pictures, however this time, it was done through the use of low angle shot of her walking away making automatically dominate the screen. Focus is also on her because she takes up one third of the frame, and the corridors are empty. This picture, is the opposite of the picture above. In this one the focus is shot at a high angle shot which gives sense of lack of authority over the person above her. We chose this shot firstly to gain a different variety of shots in our pictures but also to see the different kinds of meanings and ways which it could be analysed. we could gain from it. in my opinion I think this picture could have been improved by zooming unto the character so she wasn’t too far away.
We intended for this picture to look as if (noriane) had, had her bag caught in a bush, to add a slight bit of humour and interest to the very simple concept. We would call this a medium long shot , as part of the legs are not in the frame, and only things slightly above the knees are. Wee choose this shot because the main focuses in this picture were the handbag and the girl pictured., I think this frame could have, been improved, by showing more of the and maybe less of the girls, and maybe only have her extended arm showing. This is the result of the previous picture and we chose a medium close up of the items on the floor (cutting out the girl) because the previous picture allows us to already see who the victim is. This shot is also affective as it allows us to like the victim focus only on the things on the floor. This shot could have been improved by maybe having a point of view shot to really make the viewer feel like the girl picking up her things.
In this shot we see the time, the same way the girl in the picture would after just picking up her things. This is because it’s a close up of the clock on the subjects hand. This acts as a point of view shot. This is a close up/extreme close up of the eye of the girl, used to show her reaction to the time that she and the view have seen. We decided to shoot the eye instead of the whole face because the eyes are the key thing which express sum sort of emotion. This shot could have been improved by probably taking a picture of both eyes without the nose, having the eyes reset on the top of the three horizontal lines (going back to the rule of thirds)
This is the second reaction of this girl once she has acknowledged the time. We used a long shot for this to show her running, we intended to catch a picture with her running in the air or with one leg in the air to make her running very clear, this is one of the ways which I think we could have made our picture better. Although this picture can be seen as a long shot I think it could pass of as sum kind of wide shot , due to the amount of surroundings we are able to, this was done show where she was running to (showing she's running in a certain direction ) This was our final picture , a close up of a handle once again, this was used not only to show she's opening a door but to show the irony/a cycle. This is because in the beginning the hand holding the handle represents her leaving a classroom almost being set free, and as the cycle goes on we are back to the hand which this time takes her back to another classroom closing the door on her freedom. I think we could have improved this shot by showing more of the door/location she was heading into to show the difference between the one she just left.
