British Council STEM Scholarship
A Unique Initiative to Enhance Participation of Women in STEM Fields.

The British Council launched a scholarship scheme in
collaboration with 19 UK universities with the aim of enhancing
female participation in STEM sectors, especially from the
Americas, South Asia and South East Asia.
Eligibility Criteria
• The applicant should be a citizen or resident of the eligible
countries in the Americas, South Asia and East Asia.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri
Lanka nationals can apply from South Asian countries.
• The candidate must take up a full-time course to study in the
UK (Sept/Oct 2021 – 2022) and should also provide proof
showing that the student needs financial support to study in
the country.
• The applicant should have the capability to obtain the
required English proficiency level now or upon completion of
a pre-sessional English course.
• The council expects the student to be passionate in their
chosen field of study and the interest must be demonstrable
with or without work experience.
• The applicant should also express her commitment to be a
British Council scholarship alumni.

Typical Entry Requirements
AAB at A-level (or equivalent) with Maths & Physics or
International Baccalaureate (35 points); IELTS 7.0 with no
band less than 6.5

Course Duration
Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) usually takes three years
to complete Master of Engineering (M.Eng) four or five
years. Masters (MS) usually spans one year.

Course Structure
First two years typically covers the fundamentals of
Engineering, following which you can opt for
specialisations that you prefer. The curriculum strengthens
your analytical, design and computing skills thereby
making you ready for the job market.
