Not all sources of exosomes are identical. Different mesenchymal stem cell lines produce different amounts of various growth factors within their exosomes or secretome. Carefully selected lines of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can be used to produce conditioned media that contain powerful growth factors that influence hair follicle function. Hair regrowth studies are underway using the secretome from MSCs derived from bone marrow. These exosomes are utilized in a non-cellular treatment regimen in the office as well as at home by the patient that desires improved hair growth. Hair loss patients need to be evaluated and diagnosed before ANY hair regrowth regimen is initiated.
