2. Introduction
Information & Communications Technology (ICT) has
become an important part of the global and individual
countries economy.
The goal of the research was to find the dependency on
how the level of education in a given country affects the
level of the ICT in the economy.
We tested the following variables:
• ICT producing sector core indicator – the proportion (%) of total business
sector workforce involved in the ICT sector. (dependent variable)
• Education Index – being part of UN Human Development Index (HDI), the
scoring system yields 1 as the highest possible theoretical score, indicating
perfect education attainment. (independent variable)

The results demonstrate a very weak linear correlation, proving that there is
a random, nonlinear relationship between the two variables.

8. Results
Based on the below factors
• R-squared = 0,070495
– Level of ICT workforce in the country is only
determined by education by 7%
• P = 0,035455:
– 3.5% Probability that there is no relationship between
the 2 variables.
We can come to the conclusion, that overall level of
education is not the only factor that can affect the ICT level
of country’s economy, other factors may include: cost of
workforce, ease of doing business, safety of investments,
level of intellectual property rights protections, etc.
