Since being uploaded, the images have received over 190,000 views and 600-700 views per day on average. The Library has engaged with the Flickr community through interactions like comments, likes, and collaborating on events featuring collections from different cultural organizations. Blogs have also used and shared some of the Library's images from The Commons on Flickr.

This document outlines the development and delivery of a massive open online course (MOOC) on genealogy research offered by the North Carolina Government and Heritage Library in collaboration with Wake Forest University. The contemporary librarian is more than ever before a conduit for making historical material available to scholars and performers alike. The challenge in today’s world is not only to augment the crucial early manuscripts and publications with appropriate electronic versions, but to provide added value by enriching them with contextual and interpretative information.
The 3-year AHRC-funded project, Bass Culture in Scottish Musical Traditions, seeks to address this set of issues in Scottish bagpipe and fiddle music. Involving the Universities of Glasgow and Cambridge and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, it will provide a substantial web resource of sources and their interpretation, engaging with musicians working in a number of traditions to develop historically-informed practices. The aim is to enable musicians to have an understanding of the structures underpinning Scottish fiddle and pipe music, enriching the traditions with a deeper, more widespread appreciation of the diversity of their roots.
The metadata requirements of the two repertoires have similarities and divergences; flexibility is needed to apply suitable metadata across both. Compatibility with pre-existing approaches is also a prerequisite.
By October 2014, we will be building the web resource; this conference would provide a perfect opportunity to share an innovative collaboration between musicology, librarianship and web development.

About the Webinar
The development and rising popularity of the massive open online course (MOOC) presents a new opportunity for libraries to be involved in the education of patrons, to highlight the resources libraries provide and to further demonstrate the value of the library to administrators. There are, of course, a host of logistics to be considered when deciding to organize or support a MOOC. Diminished library budgets and staffing levels challenge libraries both monetarily and administratively. Marketing the course, mounting it on a site, securing copyright permissions and negotiating licensing for course materials, managing the course while in progress and troubleshooting technical problems add to the issues that have caused some libraries to hesitate in joining the MOOC movement. On the other hand, partnerships such as that between Georgetown University and edX, itself an initiative of Harvard and MIT, allow a pooling of resources thereby easing the burden on any one library. In some cases price breaks for certain course materials used in MOOCs can help draw students to the course, though the pricing must still be negotiated by the course organizer. A successful MOOC, such as the RootsMOOC, created by the Z. Smith Reynolds Library at Wake Forest University and the State Library of North Carolina, can bring awareness of library resources to a broad audience.
In the end, libraries must ask whether the advantages of participating in a MOOC outweigh the challenges. The speakers for this webinar will consider these issues surrounding MOOCs and libraries and try to answer the question of whether the impact of libraries on MOOCs has been realized or is still brewing.

1) Henry Folger attended a lecture by Ralph Waldo Emerson in 1879 that ignited his passion for Shakespeare. He went on to build the largest collection of Shakespeare materials with his wife Emily.
2) In 1911, Henry Folger became president of Standard Oil Company and in 1928 he and Emily secured land in Washington D.C. to build their library. The Folger Shakespeare Library opened in 1932 after Henry's death.
3) The Folger Shakespeare Library houses the world's largest collection of Shakespeare materials, including rare books, manuscripts, artwork, and theatrical artifacts. The library strives to preserve, provide access to, and advance understanding of these collections.

Folger Shakespeare Library
1) Henry Folger attended a lecture by Ralph Waldo Emerson in 1879 that ignited his passion for Shakespeare. He went on to build the largest collection of Shakespeare materials with his wife Emily.
2) In 1911, Henry Folger became president of Standard Oil Company and in 1928 he and Emily secured land in Washington D.C. to build their library. The Folger Shakespeare Library opened in 1932 after Henry's death.
3) The Folger Shakespeare Library houses the world's largest collection of Shakespeare materials, including rare books, manuscripts, artwork, and theatrical artifacts. The library strives to preserve, provide access to, and advance understanding of these collections.

The Smithsonian Institution has contributed images from 12 of its museums, libraries, and archives to Flickr Commons since 2008. This has resulted in over 3 million views of the 45,000 images and engagement from nearly 8,000 Flickr users. Users have provided information, leads on potential donations, and press for the Smithsonian collections. However, there are still challenges around staff time and control that the Smithsonian aims to address.
St. George Catholic Church - Old St. George
St. George Catholic Church in Cincinnati has a long history dating back to 1868. It was designed in 1874 but has faced many changes over the years as the surrounding area developed. By the 1990s, attendance had declined and the church was deconsecrated. It has since had various community uses but remains at risk of redevelopment. Current plans are to fully restore it as a historic landmark and adaptively reuse it with a hotel and restaurant.

The Coquitlam city archive collection is growing substantially due to several large donations received in 2014, most notably from the Coquitlam Heritage Society. These donations included hundreds of photographs, glass plate negatives, and other historical documents. The largest donation provided many of the archive's historic images of places like Maillardville and Fraser Mills. The growing collection is filling the 300 square foot room allocated for archives storage, so the city is now exploring options for a permanent archive location.

like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
