electrical energy in solar cells.
 Silicon of high purity is used in electronic industry.
22
Silicon industry in Company
Uses of Ferrosilicon
 Ferrosilicon alloys are used in producing raw steel and
alloyed steel in particular, the steel used in the
transformer cores and electrical motors with the magnetic
properties.
 Ferrosilicon alloys has an important role in balancing of
the metallic phases in molten steel and in the dispersion
and reduction of the size of graphite in the produced
steel.
23
Silicon industry in Company
As a result of these indications and R&D results, the
company was planed the establishing of its silicon
projects. The company now construct the project of
producing metallurgical silicon (98-99)% from Iraqi high
silica sands in the production rate of (300) ton per year for
the purpose of Ibn Sina Chemical Company.
The company is in the stage of conducting the economic
feasibility study for establishing project for ferrosilicon
alloy production which supports the silicon industry in
Iraq.
24
Future Goals
1. The company is planning to establish a plant for
ferrosilicon alloys production in the production capacity
of ( 25,000 ) ton per year from Iraqi high silica sands in
the manner of investment to meet increase of local
demand and for export of the alloy.
2. The company has an incomplete project of (Dead Burned
Magnesia ) from bitter water from Basra slattern at
production rate (22,000) ton per year for the purpose of
state company for refractory which produce Magnesia
brick. the company needs to the know-how and technical
assistance to achieve this goal.
25
Future Goals
3. The company is planning to establish a plant for
produce Vanadium Inhibitor at production capacity of
(8,000) ton per year from by using the intermediate
product of the dead burned magnesia plant for the
purpose of power generating plants.
4. the company is planning to establish a plant for
producing soda ash at production capacity of (150,000)
ton per year from local limestone deposits and NaCl
deposits in Samawa quarry for local demand and export.
26
Future Goals
5. the company is planning to establish a plant for
producing caustic soda from local NaCl deposits in
Samawa quarry or Basra.
