What is Web 2.0?
Web 2.0 is a trend in the use of World Wide Web technology and web design that
aims to facilitate creativity, information sharing, and, most notably,
collaboration among users. These concepts have led to the development and
evolution of web-based communities and hosted services, such as
social-networking sites, wikis, blogs, and folksonomies.

Editor's Notes

  • #7 Web 2.0 is the perfect way for customers to help us market the library. They put out the good word for us. They could complain about us too. They do this for other businesses as well.
  • #8 More and more library jobs are requiring a digital presence for staff. This is an example of Salt Lake City’s director search add.
  • #9 There are digital branches of the library. An example is Charlotte Mecklenberg’s Imaginon that you read about in the governing.com article that you read for pre- homework. Even seniors are getting in to the act. Not just kids and teens. Show seniorfriendlylibraries stats. Show worlds oldest living blogger and mymomsblog (point out mention of library). Show Slide 6 & 7 of slide show #3
  • #10 What is Library 2.0? Wikipedia How did it get started in libraries? Show Learning 2.0 site There are other libraries that have used that program to make their own for their staff. Show others. Show youtube video. Show 1st slideshow.
  • #11 This technology can be overwhelming but It’s important not to let it. You can find time to do this if you want to.
  • #12 What are we going to learn in these 5 classes?
