This document summarizes the key issues around the rising cost of housing in the San Francisco Bay Area region. It discusses how housing prices have grown much faster than incomes due to high demand to live in the region combined with chronic underproduction of new housing and a difficult development process. It proposes several solutions like increasing housing production, streamlining approval processes, promoting density near transit, and protecting affordable housing. The challenges are regional in scope but solutions require action at both the local and regional levels.

How can communities shape economic development and create quality jobsUrban Habitat
One of the keys to equitable economic development and creation of quality jobs is how we use land. Land use decisions drive everything from the type of jobs (service, manufacturing, tech) to quality of jobs to environmental impacts. The panel will analyze successful campaigns and explore key opportunities and coalition models for major impact throughout the region. Equitable economic development and quality jobs are the result of making the right decisions on land use involving the community.
How do we move from localized thinking to a regional approach for workforce and economic development?
How can advocates recognize opportunities?
What are the tools they can use to advance equitable development in their respective communities?

July 16, 2014 EPIP Webinar | Grace Under Pressure: How to Build Engagement and Capacity for Action in Distressed Communities
For this webinar, we were joined by both a nonprofit and funder to discuss how to meaningfully engage under-resourced communities and “work in the trenches”. Representatives from Community Solutions and the Zilber Family Foundation discussed how they’re making lasting impact at the grassroot level. We examined the successes and failures of their work to build capacity and develop local organizations, engage residents and empower communities.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

they are the symptom.!
40. Employee shuttles
are about land use.
Most of the region’s
office jobs are just a
few miles from rail

why most people
