Persuasive Narrative Writing
The sun reflects off the green blades of grass and onto my light grey two story house with white
window shutters. 90 degrees fahrenheit, I read on my phone. Why do I have to go outside? I think to
myself. My twin brother Joseph and I were forced to play outside. We are fraternal twins. Sitting on
the porch, bored out of our minds. There is nothing to do. I tell myself. Mom, I m bored, I whine to
my mom who is cleaning the house while my dad is at work. If you re bored, I can find something for
you to clean Sophie, said my mom. Nevermind, I say. I hate cleaning, like every other kid in America.
I think to myself. After what seemed like thirty minutes of waiting around doing nothing, I got bored.
Hey do you want to race? I ask Joseph. Sure I guess, but I will totally beat you, he answers. Whoever
can do three laps around the house first and fastest wins. No cheating, I say the rules as I draw the
finish line. We race. I run as fast as I can but he still beats me. If I just jumped over the finish line I
would have beat him. He beat me by a nanosecond. I need to beat him at something. I think. I am very
competitive. After about five minutes of a mix of sulking that I lost and trying to figure out what I can
beat Joseph in, a tall tree catches my eye. Hey how about we see who can climb the highest on that
tree , I say as I point to the tree that looks 110 feet tall. As I walk to the tree, my brother goes on about
how I shouldn t be doing this, but

gently as possible the news of her husband s death (Chopin, 1 3), this forcasted what the short story
was going to death with. The emotional responses from each family member in regards to what Mr.
Mallard meant to one another, as well as focusing on what Mrs. Mallard is dealing pulls together the

Agonism in the Academy

Prof. Kinkade
March 14th, 2013 Education, a most powerful tool of use in today s world and one that we probably
take for granted, could possible be at risk as far as how knowledgeable we are becoming on the
material at hand. A mind is a terrible thing to waste, and because of agonism in academics, students
now might not be getting the full potential out of their mind simply because of the way they/we are
being taught. Deborah Tannen, a professor at Georgetown University, in the article Agonism in the
Academy: Surviving the Argument Culture (2000) argues that discussion rather than debate is a more
proficient way of teaching our students, likewise, collaborating ideas instead of tearing down material

Although very logical, this whole hearted sentimental quote is meant to appeal emotionally to readers
by giving the feeling that we need to save our academic humanity, and not let it go to waste. In
essence, Tannen is promoting cooperative discussion, where students and educators can build off each
others ideas, and form new perspectives. So what should, or could, be the immediate solution to this
issue? While discussing agonistic ideology, Tannen states, Our agonist ideology seems so deeply
embedded in academe that one might wonder what alternatives we have (219). Tannen may be saying
here that there are no immediate solutions at this point in time, most likely because we have been
engaging in this agonistic learning style for quite some time. On the other hand, Tannen goes on to
state later in the article, while discussing another reading group experience, Refocusing our attention. .
.is the greatest gain in store if we can move beyond critique in it s narrow sense (220). Now the
solution is blunt, we as students and educators need to step back from critique and step forward to
open discussion. Tannen does an excellent job in explaining and exemplifying throughout her article
how agonism has a negative affect

The On The Night Of September 11th
is AP Government August 13, 2014 AP Government Summer Assignment Benghazi Fall of 2012 on
the night of September 11th our United States embassy was attacked in Benghazi. Benghazi is the
legislative capital of the country of Libya. Our U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and U.S.
Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith were murdered in the attack on the
compound. The attackers were working for and alongside Ahmed Abbu Khattala. That state
department in Washington D.C. was heavily criticized for denying additional security and backup to
the embassy during the attacks. The decisions made on that fateful night were unfortunately very
politically driven. After the fantastic feat by Obama and his administration in killing Osama Bin
Laden, it had become very clear that Al Qaida and terrorism in the Middle East was not on the run as
our president had stated earlier that year. It was no coincidence that these attacks took place on the
anniversary of 9/11. This event shook many Americans, and the way the information was relayed to
the American people aroused suspicions about the integrity of our president and his motives. President
Obama claimed these attacks were caused by a viral video slamming Islam. It was easy to blame an
event on a video and push the truth under the rug. The truth that terrorism was resurging and these
terrorists were not afraid to attack Americans. With an upcoming election, the news that Al Qaida may
be a force to be reckoned with once

Ethanol As An Environmentally Friendly Fuel Essay
The United States is the world s largest producer of ethanol fuel, producing over 60% of the world s
ethanol in 2011, which correlates to the creation of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) in 2005. The
RFS originated with the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and was expanded and extended by the Energy
Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). The RFS requires renewable fuel to be blended into
transportation fuel more so every year until it is set to reach 36 billion gallons in 2022 (Renewable).
The purpose of this has widely been seen as an effort to combat environmental damage such as
climate change and oil spills in addition to being a political move to be independent in creating our
means of energy production. Currently, ethanol is societally regarded as an environmentally friendly
fuel, being that it is produced from plant material through a series of chemical reactions. One of the
most controversial issues relating to ethanol is the net energy of ethanol production. In sum, more
energy is used to grow and process raw material into ethanol than is can be released by the ethanol
itself. The agricultural practices that are necessary to produce the biomaterials that are converted to
ethanol include planting, fertilization, tilling, watering, and harvesting, while processing the
biomaterials involve transportation, fermentation, and distillation (Energy). While these processes
require more energy than is able to be harvested from the resulted ethanol, and thus ethanol fuel is

Poverty Of Poverty And Poverty
About 22,000 children die each day as a result of poverty ( Child Mortality Rate Drops ). On their
website, The World Bank calculated that the amount of people living in extreme poverty was likely to
fall below ten percent in 2015. Even though the poverty rate has decreased, there are still many people
living in extreme poverty. One billion children in the world live in poverty and organizations like
Compassion International are helping give them a new life ( Poverty Facts and Stats ).
What is poverty? There are two specific aspects of poverty. The first aspect is material poverty. This is
the lack of life sustaining materials. Many people do not have the resources or money to obtain these
materials. Examples of these materials would be clean water or nutritious foods. The second aspect of
poverty is spiritual poverty. People living in spiritual poverty have no way of hearing about the gospel.
They do not have churches or missionaries in their villages to tell them the good news of God. There
is a large number of children living in both of these types of poverty and are searching for ways to
escape them. One of the main reasons why poverty is so prevalent in the world is because people are
ignorant and selfish. They would rather spend their money on expensive cars and clothes than help
buy clothes to dress a child who has nothing at all. Another reason why poverty is so prevalent is
because there are not enough job opportunities for people to support their children. With no

Essay about The Battle of Bull Run History
The Battle of Bull Run was the first battle fought during the Civil War. It was a bloody battle and
showed both sides that this war would not be won quickly. There were a few factors that swayed the
battle in favor of the Confederacy, such as terrain, weather and technology. The Confederacy was able
to use railroads to transport troops to battle, which had never been done before. This allowed them to
continue fighting while the Union troops were growing tired and weak. Since the battle was fought on
Southern soil, the Confederacy gained the upper hand. Not only did their troops have knowledge of
the terrain, they were also accustomed to the warmer, humid climate of the south. The Union also had
its share of advantages, one being use of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Union believed that if they defeated the Confederacy no further attacks would be carried out. In
addition, President Lincoln aimed to re establish Federal law in the Southern states that had seceded
from the nation. He also wanted the Union Army to stop Confederate legislators from meeting in the
new Southern capitol of Richmond, Virginia. President Lincoln believed that this would bring a
speedy end to the war. BG Beauregard held a strong position in Manassas Junction. Manassas offered
railroad access which would lead to the center of Virginia, by way of Orange and Alexandria
Railroads. It was essential that Beauregard was able to maintain this position.
The weather on the day of battle was hot, in the mid 80 s to low 90 s, and humid. The heat had a
negative effect on Union soldiers. The Union Army set out at 2 a.m. to avoid engaging in battle during
the hottest part of the day. Many of these Soldiers were untrained in road marches and lacked
discipline. They would break ranks to find water, rest or collect blackberries. For these reasons they
reached Bull Run three hours late and consequently ended up fighting well into the day. Both sides
went into the battle with high morale. They believed that over the course of a few days they would be
victorious and the war would be won in this one battle. The terrain of the Battle was mostly rolling
country side. Bull Run River was running through the battlefield, which is what the battle was named
after. Soldiers had to

October 11,2017
ABSTRACT
Our class designed an experiment in order to test the ability of the enzyme cellobiase to break down
cellobiose, in order to produce p nitrophenol when certain factors were changed including
temperature, pH, and inhibitor concentration as well as a change in concentration in the enzyme and
substrate. A baseline experiment was established and absorbances were taken in order to determine the
concentration of p nitrophenol in each scenario. We then took these calculations in order to then
calculate Vo, inhibitor, enzyme and substrate concentration to produce a graph.
Baseline Experiment
Tube Time (min) Absorbance (nm) p nitrophenol 1 1 0 0.000 2 2 0.025 0.210 4 4 0.05 0.413 6 6 0.1
0.745 8 8 0.2 1.471
Following the instructions from the Biofuel Enzyme Kit, we performed a baseline experiment in
which all factors remained constant except time in order to establish a control for absorbance and
concentrations of p nitrophenol. We then used this information to determine the Vo and the other
concentrations in order to form a graph. On a molecular level, since the temperature, pH, inhibitor,

The Importance Of Arts Integration
Arts Integration
The Arts are an important part of education. It allows students to express themselves and enriches their
learning experience. By integrating the arts into everyday education it makes school a place students
look forward to coming to. They can get excited about assignments and events that involve the arts.
Not only does the integration of arts fun for students but also but also helps meet the needs of many
learning styles.
A sense of community is formed among students when arts integration is involver. This is because
there are many opportunities for students to collaborate. While working together on projects, students
will encourage in intense social interaction (Crawford 2004).
Studies have found that when arts integration is implemented in the classroom, students are affected
positively academically and cognitively. Academic outcomes are the achievements students make in
the core academic subjects, including the arts. When literacy and language development has drama
integrated into the lessons, research has found that it helps students with reading and writing by
increasing and refining oral language skills and story understanding. The positive impact of arts
integrated instruction on literacy development is especially strong for English language learners at the
elementary and middle school levels (Anon 2017). Research has also found that math skills are
improved when connections between art study are drawn. Music and dance have been found to help

Selfishness In Ayn Rand s Anthem
When babies cry, they cry for various reasons, when they are hungry or tired or need their diaper to be
changed, but there is another reason on top of all this too. Babies can fake cry to gain the attention of
their parents. It does not matter if that same parent is exhausted or busy; that baby will wail in order to
be noticed. Even when we do not know the meaning of the word selfish, we exhibit signs of it so early
into life. Our being selfish is innate, apart of our nature , just like every other animal that fights and
hunts to sustain itself. We are born selfish and wanting, we live selfish and wanting, and we die selfish
and wanting too, and that does not imply anything negative; it means for better or for worse that we

Race And Gender Issues In New Media
Race and gender issues in new media
Nowadays with all the new media and technologies, it seems like that we are living in the future. A
future without racial and gender struggles. A common belief about the new media is that we will
become truly equal with the help of new media, but some people still do racist and sexist things in
new media. As Lisa Nakamura states in her essay that Racism and sexism have continue to flourish on
the internet, and indeed to some extents have even come to define it , despite our supposedly post
racial historical moment (81), I believe that new media is not the solution of the issues of race ,gender
and sexuality, but reinforcement of the ideologies behind those problems.
New media does not solve the racial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Donna Haraway advocates cyborgs in her article as a way to challenge the idea of a pure, unified
subject. A cyborg is a hybrid of machine and organism (Haraway, 291) which blur the boundaries of
binary categories.. Haraway argues that there is no essential unity . In the case of new media, the
representations of race and gender are depicted as binaries. White/ nonwhite. Male/ Female. New
media reinforce the ideologies of race and gender. However, in reality people of color don t all act in
the same way, and not the men or women are the same. Furthermore, race and gender consciousnesses
reinforce dualism which is used to create dominance and oppression. At the level of ideology, we see
translations of racism and colonialism into languages of development and under development, rats and
constrains of modernization (Haraway, 301). Haraway argues that racism was used as a tool to help
colonialism by helping the under developed counties to be civilized . The primitive stereotypes of the
people of color helps to oppress the people of color. Therefore, race, gender and sexuality should be
represented in a more complicated way in new media instead of stereotypes. For example, the gender
and racial representations of the characters in Journey are rather ambiguous. The armless body and the
veil covered face portray an non stereotypical racial characters

U.s. Army s 516th Signal Brigade
Introduction With each passing year, current technologies continue to evolve or change while new
technology or innovations emerge that, in some instances, profoundly change markets, societies, or
ways of living. For all organizations, to include the military, the persistent change of technology
means that organizations must also evolve and change accordingly. Based on research by Accenture s
Paul Nunes and Tim Breene in 2011, only 7 percent of companies that cease to grow ever survive over
the long term, which serves as a strong warning for any organization about the need to change. In
addition to technological change, the military faces many other challenges as well. The most
significant challenges include budgetary constraints, mandated drawdowns in personnel strength, and
numerous mission demands across the globe. This is the greater context facing the U.S. Army s 516th
Signal Brigade based in Hawaii. The 516th Signal Brigade consists of 2,500 soldiers and federal
employees responsible for the installation, operation, and defense of tactical and strategic information
technology (IT) networks for the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater (from Japan to Alaska). Every day
the 516th Signal Brigade must defend against cyber attacks, provide IT service support to many
thousands of users, and remain prepared to deploy quickly its mobile communications teams in the
event of conflict or a natural disaster. However, during my tenure within the brigade from 2013 2015,

Violence And Sex On Television
Violence and Sex on Television: Effects on the Younger Audience In today s society, the media is used
greatly for communication, advertisement, information, and for numerous other reasons. The world
has evolved by technological advances as well as by the type of content that is put out on the internet,
radio, and especially on television. In particular, violence and sex are two of the most controversial
content types that have been recently used loosely in the present as compared to the past years. It has
become sort of a norm in our society and in popular culture. It is very debatable topic because of
arguments of how it can take a toll or influence on behavior. Not only has this content been used more
frequently, it has also become easier for the younger audience to view because of how freely and
loosely it is used in regular everyday television. I strongly believe that long term viewing of violence
and sex will ultimately effect and even alter behavior of younger audiences.
Violence and sex are also very easy for the younger audience to access because of how freely it is used

Limitations And Limitations Of Evolutionary Algorithms
LIMITATIONS OF EVOLUTIONARY ALGORITHMS
Evolutionary algorithms are very promising problem solving techniques but at the same time, they
have a few limitations that can result in loss of efficiency.
Difficult parameter tuning: Any implementation of an Evolutionary algorithms will require the
specification of various parameters, such as population size, mutation rate, and maximum run time, as
well as the design of selection, recombination, and mutation procedures. Finding effective choices for
these is itself a hard problem with little to no theoretical support. In practice researchers must rely on
any available anecdotal reports from related problems, and lots of trial and error.
No assurance of convergence: There is no assurance that the evolutionary algorithm will converge to a
global optimum. There is a possibility that it gets stuck in one of the local optima. This is the reason
why EAs cannot be applied to real time problems where the accuracy and validity of the solution
cannot be compromised.
Keeping in view, the advantages and limitations of evolutionary algorithms, following three
algorithms have been employed in this work for automatic generations of Quantum and reversible
classical circuits:
1. Genetic Algorithm
2. Quantum Inspired Evolutionary Algorithm
3. Hybrid Quantum Inspired Evolutionary Algorithm
GENETIC ALGORITHM
Genetic Algorithm is a heuristic search and optimization algorithm which like any other Evolutionary
Algorithm, mimics the process of

The Mayor Case Study
The Role of the Mayor
Introduction to the Issue
This essay aims to examine the role of the mayor in regards to the politics of local government in
Ontario. The process of the development of public policy has shifted considerably during the last few
decades. Due to the advent of globalization and of social media, public sector decision making has
expanded to include more stakeholders than ever before. As a result, mayors have come under
significant pressures to engage not only political actors in decision making, but also communities and
individuals as well, which changes the way that they operate in their public role. This indicates that
the idea of municipal governance may also be changing within the minds of citizens. This essay will
draw on a case study based on the city of Mississauga and its needs from the mayor and city council.
This essay strives to provide insight into the process of developing a strong mayoral strategy using the
example of the city of Mississauga, looking at its current and future plans for development. The thesis
of this essay is that the role of the mayor is to act as a local and global ambassador for the ... Show

My Mind Is Playing Tricks On You
Your mind is Playing Tricks on You There are so many topics people question about the world.
Whether its conspiracy theories, superstitions, ghost, religion or even supernatural experiences.
Everybody has their own beliefs. Why don t we all just believe in one... Logic! People are scared to
question what they believe, because they never really know if it s real or fake, so they might as well
do the right thing just in case . Why don t they test their theories to actually really find out for
themselves? Honestly, one can be scared of the truth which is why they avoid it, but anything can be
proven logically. Religion, or more concise, prayer is the main topic around the world. Everyone has
different beliefs, and believe in different or many Gods. Are they all real? Probably not. Many can say
that prayer works, but fail to see both sides of the story. The bible for instance, one can agree that they
re many verse to imply that pray works. If it does not work than the bible either tells you you don t
have enough faith or god has other plans . Although, there are some instances that prayer has been said
to work it really cannot be proven. People believe in the bible so much. It is a book written thousands
of years ago. It could easily be paraphrased just like a story your family tells you from a long time
ago, and start adding their own input and by the time it gets to your ears it s a whole new story that
never happened. Traditionally the religion family members have is

Paper Towel Experiment Essay
This experiment was conducted at Horry Georgetown Technical College in South Carolina, on January
30, 2018. Each group conducted two experiments to determine the strength and absorbency of Great
Value Brand paper towels and Sparkle. To test the strength of each paper towel brand, metal weights
(each measuring 28.88g) were placed onto the center of the paper towel after it was wet with 10mL of
water. Both paper towel brands were lifted off the table surface with various weights until the paper
towel ripped. The data recorded in grams is placed on a table (Figure ) for each group so that the
experiment is completed and recorded a total of six times. The independent variable for this
experiment is the brand of paper towels which is Great Value ... Show more content on

To test the absorbency of each of the paper towel brands they were folded into 6th s and placed into a
250 mL glass beaker containing 100 mL of tap water (H20). Each of the paper towel brands absorbed
water in the beaker for 30 seconds and were lifted from the water for 30 seconds so that the excess
water may drop off. The tap water remaining was later poured back into the 100mL to measure the
paper towel absorbency. To get the total amount of tap water (H20) absorbed, the formula used was
100mL X mL = Absorbency mL. The independent variable for this experiment is the brand of paper
towels which is Great Value Brand and Sparkle. The dependent variable is the amount of tap water
(H20) absorbed of the 100mL of tap water (H20). For this experiment the controlled variable is the
amount of tap water (100mL) placed into the 250mL glass beaker, as well as the size of the paper
towels ( ) . Other control variables would be the amount of time the paper towel was placed into the
tap water (30 seconds) as well as the amount of time it was left to drip (also 30 seconds). The way of
which the water was measured through the 100mL plastic graduated cylinder and the way in which the
paper towels are picked up is also a controlled

took a long, tiring, journey to the sun country airport in Minneapolis. We walked right and found my
best buddy, aiden! We were so happy! We chatted and talked. Then we went to the waiting place to
charge our dead video games and we waited for the long plane. Once it was ready, we grabbed our
games and hurried onto the plane. WEEEEEEEEEEEEE OOOOOOOOOO! The plane took off and
flew across the sky! I sometimes feel dizzy when the plane takes off. I watched outside as the city
grew smaller and smaller and smaller. Then the world looked flat ish. Then we went through the
clouds! Once we were super duper high, I closed my window cover and made myself comfortable.
Then I got a little tablet thing on the plane. It could watch movies or play these little mini games. I
went to the games and it was very slow and glitchy. I went to the movies and watched Eddie the Eagle
for no reason. I just picked a random movie. Once we were done flying, we entered cool places like

The Price We Pay Matte Ross Quotes
The Price We Pay You must pay for everything in this world one way and another. There is nothing
free except the grace of God. You cannot earn that or deserve it claims Mattie Ross at the beginning of
True Grit by Charles Portis. What could Mattie be conveying by this? At the beginning of True Grit,
when Mattie embarks on her journey to capture Tom Chaney, we assume this means vengeance for the
murder of her father, Frank Ross, but does it change as the story goes on? Mattie Ross is hell bent
upon justice for her father, but by the end of the book we see the significance of paying for revenge.

Smith, Arkansas to take care of the business ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately there was a price to pay for exacting vengeance on Tom Chaney. Not only do Rooster and
Little Blackie reveal this, but additionally, so does Mattie. Miss Ross is a prime example of what it
means to answer for your actions. Although Mattie seems content with her life, it can t quite be
ignored the subtle hints of her second rate life. She claims that she is content It s true that I love my
church and my bank. What is wrong with that? (224) Miss Ross displays what she finds important in
her life. But she eludes us to believe that she simply is content when truly she is denying her woe.
Mattie proclaims, A woman with brains and a frank tongue and one sleeve pinned up and an invalid
mother to care for is at some disadvantage... (224) . She explains her disposition in the subject of a
loving husband; she insinuates that she would have liked to have a mate but that she was not as
fortunate as other women. Mattie loses her arm because of her stubbornness and grit , if she had
restrained her need for settling the scores and not departed on the endeavor to end her vendetta against
Chaney, she would still have two arms. Ultimately, her future suffers for her all consuming need of

Personally, racism is very hard to control it. It depends on your own opinion about different skin
colours people. Any law and regulations can not control the thoughts of others. There is one incident I
remember clearly not only it happened recently but also it carries big meaning to me. On 11th April
2017, a passenger was forcefully removed from the plane because he refused to give up his seat. He
was dragged off brutally and violently. Blood is visible on his face and body. The passenger explained
that he is a doctor and he is on his way to see his patients thus he cannot reschedule his flight. This
resulted in him being forcefully dragged off the plane and the force deployed caused him to bleed. This
passenger is an Asian. If this person is white, would they do that? Everyone has right to defend their
dignity. The world is multicultural, If you want to learn more culture and make friends with all over
the world, you must accept different people. A lot of international students are very lonely and
hopeless, they leave their motherland, parents, acquainted environment. They do not know how to
blend in new place. In my opinion, If you try to know more friends who are different than you are, you
will feel surprised. I have best friend and she is the black people.I learned a lot about her

The Solar System
1.1. Natural satellites
Formally, classified natural satellites or moons include 176 planetary satellites orbiting six of the eight
planets. Of the inner planets, Mercury and Venus have no natural satellites; Earth has one large natural
satellite, known as the Moon; and Mars has two tiny natural satellites, Phobos and Deimos. The large
gas giant planets have extensive systems of natural satellites, including half a dozen comparable in
size to Earth s Moon. The objects in the solar system are classified foremost by their dynamics and
motion, while size and composition are important for secondary classification. The solar system itself
is, defined by the orbits of its constituent bodies. Classification by motion is more useful for
astronomers. In fact, the dynamics of the solar system were a central issue for early astronomers such
as Ptolemy in the second century and Nicholaus Copernicus in the 16th century. In what follows, we
introduce different classifications of the planetary moons.
1.2. Classification of motion of natural satellites
1.2.1 Classification based on the orbits
The natural satellites may be, classified into three categories according to their orbits (Newburn and
Gulkis, 1973; Burns, 1986) as follows.
Category 1: Regular satellites
The regular satellites move prograde in nearly circular orbits in the equatorial plane of the mother
planet. This sector of satellites represents the four Galilian satellites of Jupiter, the eight classical
satellites of Saturn

Why Christians Need AAnchor
No boat would be complete if it lacked an anchor. With no way to secure it in place, the boat would
simply drift to sea aimlessly, meaning a total loss for its owner. Christians, a religious group that
claims to follow the Man Jesus who was executed years ago, claim that our soul needs an anchor just
as badly as a boat. The soul , according to them, is the immortal part of man that exists within the
physical body, but will continue to live after the body has deceased. This spiritual part of mankind is
in need of an anchor to keep it rooted, and they teach that Jesus is that anchor. An anchor must hold
fast no matter how hard the wind gusts or how boisterous the waves become. Those on the ship must
be able to have faith that the anchor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see the promises that He made to Abraham and to other men, and then we see that He always kept
those promises. God has never failed to keep His word, and He never will. Because He has confirmed
Jesus, we can be anchored by our hope in Him, without wavering! God cannot lie! If He says it, He
means it. When God tells me that I can have hope and faith in His Son, I believe Him! It is abundantly
clear by talking to these three Christians, as well as others, that these people have absolutely no doubt
in the Man they call their Savior. Such confidence is rare to say the least, but not everyone feels that
the assurance the Christians have in Jesus is warranted. A local worshipper of the god Saturn stated, I
just don t get how they can have a steadfast hope in someone who is just a Man! I know that Saturn is
not a man, he is a god! I can come to this temple and see an image of him, something tangible. But
there is no such thing for these Christians. There s nothing physical to even show who this Jesus is!
While many may disagree with them, the hope that Christians have in this Man is unwavering and
they truly believe their soul is securely anchored. In light of this, it seems possible that there may be
some validity to Christianity after

The Impact Of The Salem Witch Trials
The Salem Witch Hunt
Introduction
The Salem Witch Trials is a term that is used to refer to a series of different witchcraft cases that were
taken to the local magistrates of a region known as Salem that happened to be considered as a part of
the Massachusetts Bay colony in the 17th Century (Roach and Rosenthal 925). Additionally, it is
important to note that the Salem Witch Trials have been considered to be amongst some of the darkest
periods in the American trial history. The reason why the trails were considered to be amongst the
worst trials in the American history is brought out by the fact that over two hundred individuals were
taken to court and collectively accused as witches (Baker 34). The end of the trials saw a total of ...

It is important to note that in the 17th century, people from Massachusetts were exposed to a kind of
fear that was linked to the Devil and being constantly portrayed as always finding for all possible
ways to infiltrate and interfere with Christianity in the American society (Clark and Aronson 401). In
connection to this, it is important to understand that the Salem community was one of the strongly
religious communities living that lived in near isolation and to some extent, in its own New World
where the sense of fearing the devil had been made a part of the society. The fear that the community
living in this area had was triggered when Tituba, one of the accused witches went on to confess that
she was working for the devil (Martin and Bascle 70). The confession that was made led to the
development of hysteria and panic in the region making the region to devote their efforts to a massive
witch hunt. In this, it is important to note that despite there being some contributing factors in the
witch hunt, the confession that was made by Tituba is always considered to be the main reason why
the Salem Witch Trial came to being. During the trial period, the Massachusetts Bay colonists had
initially engaged in the process of convicting individuals for engaging in witchcraft for some time
with one of the conviction that he made is that of Margaret Jones, that took place in 1648

People believe that there were many shooters in the assassination of JFK. Some say it was the CIA and

Ceratium
The genus Ceratium is part of the clade Alveolates, which is considered to be a monophyletic group
consisting of single celled eukaryotes. Dinoflagellates, a phylum (subclade) under Ceratium, are
composed of protists. Dinoflagellates can be either photosynthetic (an organism that uses sunlight for
energy) or heterotrophic (an organism that consumes organic material for energy), although most are
mainly photosynthetic. Ceratium is responsible for the red tide phenomenon in which the protists
produce toxins that are released into the water and appear as a red tide . During nighttime, some
species are capable of producing bioluminescence. Bioluminescence is light that Ceratium generate
and can be seen only when the sun goes down. Another characteristic

The scandal surrounding President Richard Nixon, and a break in at the Democratic National
Headquarters. The story began of May of 1972, when a group of people on Nixon s reelection
committee broke into the headquarters and installed wire tapes, microphones, and stole copies of
secret documents. However, the microphones and wiretaps did not work, so on June 17, a group of
five men broke into the headquarters to install new ones. The men were caught and arrested, but the
mystery was why they did this. Eventually, it was clear that Nixon was closely related to these
burglars, and the judge of their trial, along with others, decided to do some more investigation. It was
revealed that Nixon had secret tapes of every conversation in the oval office, and although he tried to
resist, he was eventually ordered by the Supreme Court to give them up. Richard Nixon resigned on
August 5, 1974, after he was impeached by the House of Representatives on July 27, 1974. The reason
this relates to Spotlight, is because most of the investigative work was done by two journalists from
the Washington Post, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. Without them and their brilliant
investigative work, the connections between the robbers and the White House would not have been
made. They even won a Pulitzer Prize for their story on Watergate, because of its massive impact.
Their effort and method of investigating has become a model for all other investigative journalists to
follow in order to show the world the truth. The Spotlight team s work was very similar to that of
Woodward and Bernstein s, and won a Pulitzer Prize for their work as well, which is why Watergate
relates to this

  • 2. Persuasive Narrative Writing The sun reflects off the green blades of grass and onto my light grey two story house with white window shutters. 90 degrees fahrenheit, I read on my phone. Why do I have to go outside? I think to myself. My twin brother Joseph and I were forced to play outside. We are fraternal twins. Sitting on the porch, bored out of our minds. There is nothing to do. I tell myself. Mom, I m bored, I whine to my mom who is cleaning the house while my dad is at work. If you re bored, I can find something for you to clean Sophie, said my mom. Nevermind, I say. I hate cleaning, like every other kid in America. I think to myself. After what seemed like thirty minutes of waiting around doing nothing, I got bored. Hey do you want to race? I ask Joseph. Sure I guess, but I will totally beat you, he answers. Whoever can do three laps around the house first and fastest wins. No cheating, I say the rules as I draw the finish line. We race. I run as fast as I can but he still beats me. If I just jumped over the finish line I would have beat him. He beat me by a nanosecond. I need to beat him at something. I think. I am very competitive. After about five minutes of a mix of sulking that I lost and trying to figure out what I can beat Joseph in, a tall tree catches my eye. Hey how about we see who can climb the highest on that tree , I say as I point to the tree that looks 110 feet tall. As I walk to the tree, my brother goes on about how I shouldn t be doing this, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Agonism in the Academy Rene Siluano Rws 280 Prof. Kinkade March 14th, 2013 Education, a most powerful tool of use in today s world and one that we probably take for granted, could possible be at risk as far as how knowledgeable we are becoming on the material at hand. A mind is a terrible thing to waste, and because of agonism in academics, students now might not be getting the full potential out of their mind simply because of the way they/we are being taught. Deborah Tannen, a professor at Georgetown University, in the article Agonism in the Academy: Surviving the Argument Culture (2000) argues that discussion rather than debate is a more proficient way of teaching our students, likewise, collaborating ideas instead of tearing down material can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although very logical, this whole hearted sentimental quote is meant to appeal emotionally to readers by giving the feeling that we need to save our academic humanity, and not let it go to waste. In essence, Tannen is promoting cooperative discussion, where students and educators can build off each others ideas, and form new perspectives. So what should, or could, be the immediate solution to this issue? While discussing agonistic ideology, Tannen states, Our agonist ideology seems so deeply embedded in academe that one might wonder what alternatives we have (219). Tannen may be saying here that there are no immediate solutions at this point in time, most likely because we have been engaging in this agonistic learning style for quite some time. On the other hand, Tannen goes on to state later in the article, while discussing another reading group experience, Refocusing our attention. . .is the greatest gain in store if we can move beyond critique in it s narrow sense (220). Now the solution is blunt, we as students and educators need to step back from critique and step forward to open discussion. Tannen does an excellent job in explaining and exemplifying throughout her article how agonism has a negative affect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The On The Night Of September 11th is AP Government August 13, 2014 AP Government Summer Assignment Benghazi Fall of 2012 on the night of September 11th our United States embassy was attacked in Benghazi. Benghazi is the legislative capital of the country of Libya. Our U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith were murdered in the attack on the compound. The attackers were working for and alongside Ahmed Abbu Khattala. That state department in Washington D.C. was heavily criticized for denying additional security and backup to the embassy during the attacks. The decisions made on that fateful night were unfortunately very politically driven. After the fantastic feat by Obama and his administration in killing Osama Bin Laden, it had become very clear that Al Qaida and terrorism in the Middle East was not on the run as our president had stated earlier that year. It was no coincidence that these attacks took place on the anniversary of 9/11. This event shook many Americans, and the way the information was relayed to the American people aroused suspicions about the integrity of our president and his motives. President Obama claimed these attacks were caused by a viral video slamming Islam. It was easy to blame an event on a video and push the truth under the rug. The truth that terrorism was resurging and these terrorists were not afraid to attack Americans. With an upcoming election, the news that Al Qaida may be a force to be reckoned with once ... • 6. Ethanol As An Environmentally Friendly Fuel Essay The United States is the world s largest producer of ethanol fuel, producing over 60% of the world s ethanol in 2011, which correlates to the creation of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) in 2005. The RFS originated with the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and was expanded and extended by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). The RFS requires renewable fuel to be blended into transportation fuel more so every year until it is set to reach 36 billion gallons in 2022 (Renewable). The purpose of this has widely been seen as an effort to combat environmental damage such as climate change and oil spills in addition to being a political move to be independent in creating our means of energy production. Currently, ethanol is societally regarded as an environmentally friendly fuel, being that it is produced from plant material through a series of chemical reactions. One of the most controversial issues relating to ethanol is the net energy of ethanol production. In sum, more energy is used to grow and process raw material into ethanol than is can be released by the ethanol itself. The agricultural practices that are necessary to produce the biomaterials that are converted to ethanol include planting, fertilization, tilling, watering, and harvesting, while processing the biomaterials involve transportation, fermentation, and distillation (Energy). While these processes require more energy than is able to be harvested from the resulted ethanol, and thus ethanol fuel is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On their website, The World Bank calculated that the amount of people living in extreme poverty was likely to fall below ten percent in 2015. Even though the poverty rate has decreased, there are still many people living in extreme poverty. One billion children in the world live in poverty and organizations like Compassion International are helping give them a new life ( Poverty Facts and Stats ). What is poverty? There are two specific aspects of poverty. The first aspect is material poverty. This is the lack of life sustaining materials. Many people do not have the resources or money to obtain these materials. Examples of these materials would be clean water or nutritious foods. The second aspect of poverty is spiritual poverty. People living in spiritual poverty have no way of hearing about the gospel. They do not have churches or missionaries in their villages to tell them the good news of God. There is a large number of children living in both of these types of poverty and are searching for ways to escape them. One of the main reasons why poverty is so prevalent in the world is because people are ignorant and selfish. They would rather spend their money on expensive cars and clothes than help buy clothes to dress a child who has nothing at all. Another reason why poverty is so prevalent is because there are not enough job opportunities for people to support their children. With no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Essay about The Battle of Bull Run History The Battle of Bull Run was the first battle fought during the Civil War. It was a bloody battle and showed both sides that this war would not be won quickly. There were a few factors that swayed the battle in favor of the Confederacy, such as terrain, weather and technology. The Confederacy was able to use railroads to transport troops to battle, which had never been done before. This allowed them to continue fighting while the Union troops were growing tired and weak. Since the battle was fought on Southern soil, the Confederacy gained the upper hand. Not only did their troops have knowledge of the terrain, they were also accustomed to the warmer, humid climate of the south. The Union also had its share of advantages, one being use of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Union believed that if they defeated the Confederacy no further attacks would be carried out. In addition, President Lincoln aimed to re establish Federal law in the Southern states that had seceded from the nation. He also wanted the Union Army to stop Confederate legislators from meeting in the new Southern capitol of Richmond, Virginia. President Lincoln believed that this would bring a speedy end to the war. BG Beauregard held a strong position in Manassas Junction. Manassas offered railroad access which would lead to the center of Virginia, by way of Orange and Alexandria Railroads. It was essential that Beauregard was able to maintain this position. The weather on the day of battle was hot, in the mid 80 s to low 90 s, and humid. The heat had a negative effect on Union soldiers. The Union Army set out at 2 a.m. to avoid engaging in battle during the hottest part of the day. Many of these Soldiers were untrained in road marches and lacked discipline. They would break ranks to find water, rest or collect blackberries. For these reasons they reached Bull Run three hours late and consequently ended up fighting well into the day. Both sides went into the battle with high morale. They believed that over the course of a few days they would be victorious and the war would be won in this one battle. The terrain of the Battle was mostly rolling country side. Selfishness In Ayn Rand s Anthem When babies cry, they cry for various reasons, when they are hungry or tired or need their diaper to be changed, but there is another reason on top of all this too. Babies can fake cry to gain the attention of their parents. It does not matter if that same parent is exhausted or busy; that baby will wail in order to be noticed. Even when we do not know the meaning of the word selfish, we exhibit signs of it so early into life. Our being selfish is innate, apart of our nature , just like every other animal that fights and hunts to sustain itself. A future without racial and gender struggles. A common belief about the new media is that we will become truly equal with the help of new media, but some people still do racist and sexist things in new media. As Lisa Nakamura states in her essay that Racism and sexism have continue to flourish on the internet, and indeed to some extents have even come to define it , despite our supposedly post racial historical moment (81), I believe that new media is not the solution of the issues of race ,gender and sexuality, but reinforcement of the ideologies behind those problems. A cyborg is a hybrid of machine and organism (Haraway, 291) which blur the boundaries of binary categories.. Haraway argues that there is no essential unity . In the case of new media, the representations of race and gender are depicted as binaries. White/ nonwhite. Male/ Female. New media reinforce the ideologies of race and gender. However, in reality people of color don t all act in the same way, and not the men or women are the same. Furthermore, race and gender consciousnesses reinforce dualism which is used to create dominance and oppression. At the level of ideology, we see translations of racism and colonialism into languages of development and under development, rats and constrains of modernization (Haraway, 301). Haraway argues that racism was used as a tool to help colonialism by helping the under developed counties to be civilized . The primitive stereotypes of the people of color helps to oppress the people of color. Therefore, race, gender and sexuality should be represented in a more complicated way in new media instead of stereotypes. For example, the gender and racial representations of the characters in Journey are rather ambiguous. The armless body and the veil covered face portray an non stereotypical racial characters ... Army s 516th Signal Brigade Introduction With each passing year, current technologies continue to evolve or change while new technology or innovations emerge that, in some instances, profoundly change markets, societies, or ways of living. For all organizations, to include the military, the persistent change of technology means that organizations must also evolve and change accordingly. Based on research by Accenture s Paul Nunes and Tim Breene in 2011, only 7 percent of companies that cease to grow ever survive over the long term, which serves as a strong warning for any organization about the need to change. In addition to technological change, the military faces many other challenges as well. The most significant challenges include budgetary constraints, mandated drawdowns in personnel strength, and numerous mission demands across the globe. This is the greater context facing the U.S. Army s 516th Signal Brigade based in Hawaii. The 516th Signal Brigade consists of 2,500 soldiers and federal employees responsible for the installation, operation, and defense of tactical and strategic information technology (IT) networks for the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater (from Japan to Alaska). Violence And Sex On Television Violence and Sex on Television: Effects on the Younger Audience In today s society, the media is used greatly for communication, advertisement, information, and for numerous other reasons. The world has evolved by technological advances as well as by the type of content that is put out on the internet, radio, and especially on television. In particular, violence and sex are two of the most controversial content types that have been recently used loosely in the present as compared to the past years. It has become sort of a norm in our society and in popular culture. It is very debatable topic because of arguments of how it can take a toll or influence on behavior. Not only has this content been used more frequently, it has also become easier for the younger audience to view because of how freely and loosely it is used in regular everyday television. I strongly believe that long term viewing of violence and sex will ultimately effect and even alter behavior of younger audiences. Violence and sex are also very easy for the younger audience to access because of how freely it is used in regular everyday television. According to a fact on Teen Health and Media, on average teenagers spend more time in front of the television than any other activity besides sleeping. • 22. Limitations And Limitations Of Evolutionary Algorithms LIMITATIONS OF EVOLUTIONARY ALGORITHMS Evolutionary algorithms are very promising problem solving techniques but at the same time, they have a few limitations that can result in loss of efficiency. Difficult parameter tuning: Any implementation of an Evolutionary algorithms will require the specification of various parameters, such as population size, mutation rate, and maximum run time, as well as the design of selection, recombination, and mutation procedures. Finding effective choices for these is itself a hard problem with little to no theoretical support. In practice researchers must rely on any available anecdotal reports from related problems, and lots of trial and error. No assurance of convergence: There is no assurance that the evolutionary algorithm will converge to a global optimum. There is a possibility that it gets stuck in one of the local optima. This is the reason why EAs cannot be applied to real time problems where the accuracy and validity of the solution cannot be compromised. Keeping in view, the advantages and limitations of evolutionary algorithms, following three algorithms have been employed in this work for automatic generations of Quantum and reversible classical circuits: 1. Genetic Algorithm 2. Quantum Inspired Evolutionary Algorithm 3. Hybrid Quantum Inspired Evolutionary Algorithm GENETIC ALGORITHM Genetic Algorithm is a heuristic search and optimization algorithm which like any other Evolutionary Algorithm, mimics the process of ... Additionally, it is important to note that the Salem Witch Trials have been considered to be amongst some of the darkest periods in the American trial history. In connection to this, it is important to understand that the Salem community was one of the strongly religious communities living that lived in near isolation and to some extent, in its own New World where the sense of fearing the devil had been made a part of the society. The fear that the community living in this area had was triggered when Tituba, one of the accused witches went on to confess that she was working for the devil (Martin and Bascle 70). The confession that was made led to the development of hysteria and panic in the region making the region to devote their efforts to a massive witch hunt. The story began of May of 1972, when a group of people on Nixon s reelection committee broke into the headquarters and installed wire tapes, microphones, and stole copies of secret documents. However, the microphones and wiretaps did not work, so on June 17, a group of five men broke into the headquarters to install new ones. The men were caught and arrested, but the mystery was why they did this. Eventually, it was clear that Nixon was closely related to these burglars, and the judge of their trial, along with others, decided to do some more investigation. It was revealed that Nixon had secret tapes of every conversation in the oval office, and although he tried to resist, he was eventually ordered by the Supreme Court to give them up. Richard Nixon resigned on August 5, 1974, after he was impeached by the House of Representatives on July 27, 1974.
