This document discusses the anatomy and functions of the spinal cord, including sensory and motor functions. It describes the ascending tracts that carry sensations in the spinal cord and various spinal cord syndromes that can result from lesions in different areas of the spinal cord, such as complete transverse cord lesions, Brown-Sequard syndrome, central spinal cord lesions, posterior column syndrome, and anterior spinal syndrome. It also discusses disorders like multiple sclerosis and subacute combined degeneration of the spinal cord. Complications from spinal cord injuries are outlined as well as current treatment approaches.
