Spider monkeys get their name from their long tail which they use to climb, sleep, and eat. They can be found in rainforests from Central and South America to Mexico, preferring the trees and lower grounds. Baby spider monkeys are born small but start climbing and communicating within a few weeks. Spider monkeys eat mostly fruit but prefer the insides, also eating insects, nuts, eggs, and leaves, with their diet being 90% fruit, seeds, nuts, and flowers. Spider monkeys live up to 25 years in the wild and 35 years in captivity.
