Princess Sophie was born in 1868 in Stuttgart and married Prince Ferdinand. In 1914, Gavrilo Princip assassinated Princess Sophie and her husband Prince Ferdinand in Sarajevo. Princip shot Princess Sophie in the stomach while she was pregnant, and she died from her injuries. Gavrilo Princip was a Serbian nationalist who killed the royal couple in an attempt to destabilize relations between Austria-Hungary and Serbia.
