The Prince Mahidol Award Foundation under the Royal Patronage and Trinity College, Cambridge
at Srapathum Palace

May it please Your Royal Highness,
On behalf of the Prince Mahidol Award Foundation under the Royal Patronage and
Trinity College, Cambridge, I would like to express deep gratitude to Your Royal Highness
in graciously presiding over the Memorandum Signing Ceremony between the Prince
Mahidol Award Foundation under the Royal Patronage and Trinity College, Cambridge
today.
May I humbly present the background and objective of the Memorandum.
When Sir Gregory Paul Winter, the Master of Trinity College, Cambridge was selected to
receive the Prince Mahidol Award for the year 2016 in the field of Medicine, he proposed
to put the prize money to start the endowment of the "Prince Mahidol Bursary Fund by
Trinity College" to help support good Thai students coming to the Trinity College. He
then asked for the Royal Permission to use the name of the fund, which Her Royal
Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn granted the Royal Permission.

2. After receiving the Prince Mahidol Award for the year 2016, Sir Gregory Paul Winter
donated £50,000 to establish the Prince Mahidol Bursary Fund by Trinity College
and the following Master, Dame Sally C. Davies, carried on Sir Gregory Paul Winter's
intention by proposing to the Prince Mahidol Award Foundation under the Royal
Patronage to co-establish the Prince Mahidol fund by donating £2,500,000 and
Cambridge University will donate £ 450,000 to make a total fund of £3,000,000.
His Excellency, Mr. Anand Panyarachun, a Trinity College alumnus, was asked to be the
fund raiser. He did raise funds totalling £2.5 million to the Prince Mahidol Fund in Trinity
College, Cambridge to establish the studentship to support Thai students to study at
doctorate degree Level in the field of Medicine or Biomedical Sciences at Trinity College.
The donated money of £2.5 million was presented to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha
Chakri Sirindhorn on 14th June, 2022 and today is the auspicious time to sign the MOU of
the AGREEMENT to establish the Prince Mahidol studentship at Trinity College,
Cambridge.
May I ask your Royal Permission to present at the MOU signing between Trinity College
and Prince Mahidol Award Foundation as follows:
