This document outlines a presentation on comparing face-to-face discussions to virtual discussions. The objective is to encourage different ways for educators to engage students through various discussion formats. Research was conducted with 21 students participating in both face-to-face and virtual discussions to analyze the effects on participation and sense of belonging. The findings showed that participation and quality of participation increased in virtual discussions, as some students feel more comfortable sharing their ideas in this format. The presentation provides examples of virtual discussion tools and ways to integrate virtual discussions into classroom lessons.
