By sonny southwell discusses the various technologies used throughout a school project. To store and share files, a 32GB memory stick was used allowing easy file transfer between group members. Surveys and interviews were conducted for research using Survey Monkey and voice recordings. A Facebook messenger group chat enabled constant communication outside of school. Video editing software like Adobe Premiere and After Effects were used to composite video clips and add titles. YouTube was used to share drafts with teachers for feedback before the final version was distributed.

NEW TECHNOLOGIES

2. INTRODUCTION
• Throughout the course if this year, I have used countless amounts of different technology.
From laptops to old fashioned voice recorders. Without the technology I have had access
to, I would have not have been able to have not been able to create my project with my
group to a high standard.

3. WORKFLOW
To store all of my files, I used a 32GB memory stick, this
meant that it was easily accessible to the rest of my group as
we could transfer from memory stick to laptops or other
memory sticks instantly. It also meant that I chose who I could
give my notes, files and other things to, meaning that they
could not be easily taken from me.

4. RESEARCH
• For my research, I had to make sure that I had the most efficient way of collecting
responses individually and from surveys. To do this, I firstly interviewed my classmate Joe
Nash, who gave me precise feedback on my piece, and I also used survey monkey,
creating a survey which asked random people about my chosen genre and the type of
generic conventions they would prefer in a zombie film.

5. COMMUNICATION
• For our group to successfully communicate, we needed to make sure that we were always
in touch with each other outside of college, so we created a Facebook messenger group
chat. This meant that as we were already friends on Facebook, we were able to have up
to date conversations on the app and we would be notified on our phones whenever
someone said something in the chat. This made it easy to organize meet-ups for filming,
group discussions and we were able to give each other advice etc.

6. PRODUCTION
• For our production, we knew it was going to be a long process, so we had to make sure
that we were using the best software available to us, and doing this, we used quite a few.
The first being adobe premier, this is an editing software that is top of the range. One tool
used the most by us was the layering tool. This was when we needed to change our
opacity to layer one clip onto another. One example of this is the car crash scene, we
actually filmed 2 separate shots, but layered them on top of each other to make it look like
1 shot.

7. PRODUCTION
• Another software that we used was after effects. This is for digital visual effects, motion
graphics, and compositing application. We used it for our titles, which was very successful
as they looked professional standard.
Another software that we used was garage band. This meant that for our radio broadcast scene, in
the kitchen, I was able to change the frequency levels up and down to make it sound muffled and
like a radio broadcast.

8. DISTRIBUTION
• Every time we had a different draft of our piece, we would export it and upload it to
YouTube, from here, we would send a link to our teacher for feedback. This meant that we
would receive constructive criticism from our teacher to help us get better in the next
draft. And when it got to our final draft we were able to have it at a very high standard.
When posting presentations to our blog, I used slide share, prezi and adobe voice, as I
wanted a variety of different media platforms to share my research and planning on, also
my evaluation. This also made it more interesting for my audience.
