regional and international markets and market
information
Marketing & Export Promotion Division
Vision
q To effectively facilitate trade, with the objective to support export
development for SMES in Solomon Islands
Mission
q Take up leadership role in coordinating with stakeholders to build a strong
institutional support network for export development & Promotion
q Facilitate public/private dialogue and act as a channel of communication for
local enterprises who are interested in developing contacts with suppliers &
exporters
q Assist in identifying new markets for local products that can be potentially
exported
Core Functions
Trade and Market Intelligence
q Collect trade information & statistics to analysis trade flow and determine
market trends, segments and sizes. Also focus on Market access conditions to
link business opportunities
q We also disseminate information on market access requirements to our local
exporters and provide information on potential export markets
Core Functions
Export Development & Promotion
q Facilitate training programmes/workshop to support local exporters, such as
developing product branding
q Develop export strategies for exporters to local products that are identified
as potential exportable products
q Financial incentive to support export contracts
q Support local businesses to showcase their products in overseas trade fair and
events

q VCO
q Handicrafts
Added Value Potentials
q Coconut Oil - VCO
- Virgin Coconut Oil ( VCO) has better potential for adding value and
achieving premium prices
- If VCO is well packaged and branded, and is priced competitively
against other major VCO producer in the regions, then Solomon
Islands be able to command sustainable market share in Aussie, NZ
and other countries in Asia.
Added Value Potentials
q Cocoa Beans
- Have significant revenue earning potential for S.I particularly given the
increasingly world demand for cocoa and decreasing in global supply at
times.
- Existing cocoa bean producers in Solomon Islands should be given incentives
and manufacturing programmes so they can expand and added value -
chocolate, and has the option to sell to domestic market
To Conclude
q Branding
- Consideration should be given to develop and promote “Single Source”
brand for each of these products. To Promote the unique flavour profile of
the product
q Reform of commercial functions within our local marketing Authorities -
CEMA
- Expand the commercial functions and marketing capacity of CEMA.

  • 2. MARKETING AND EXPORTING PROMOTION UNIT(MCILI) PRIORITY IMPLEMENTATION PROGRAMS u Policy Objective 5: Facilitate SME access to local, regional and international markets and market information
  • 3. Marketing & Export Promotion Division Vision q To effectively facilitate trade, with the objective to support export development for SMES in Solomon Islands Mission q Take up leadership role in coordinating with stakeholders to build a strong institutional support network for export development & Promotion q Facilitate public/private dialogue and act as a channel of communication for local enterprises who are interested in developing contacts with suppliers & exporters q Assist in identifying new markets for local products that can be potentially exported
  • 4. Core Functions Trade and Market Intelligence q Collect trade information & statistics to analysis trade flow and determine market trends, segments and sizes. Also focus on Market access conditions to link business opportunities q We also disseminate information on market access requirements to our local exporters and provide information on potential export markets
  • 5. Core Functions Export Development & Promotion q Facilitate training programmes/workshop to support local exporters, such as developing product branding q Develop export strategies for exporters to local products that are identified as potential exportable products q Financial incentive to support export contracts q Support local businesses to showcase their products in overseas trade fair and events
  • 6. Potential Exportable Products for SME q Coffee q Cocoa q Kava q VCO q Handicrafts
  • 7. Added Value Potentials q Coconut Oil - VCO - Virgin Coconut Oil ( VCO) has better potential for adding value and achieving premium prices - If VCO is well packaged and branded, and is priced competitively against other major VCO producer in the regions, then Solomon Islands be able to command sustainable market share in Aussie, NZ and other countries in Asia.
  • 8. Added Value Potentials q Cocoa Beans - Have significant revenue earning potential for S.I particularly given the increasingly world demand for cocoa and decreasing in global supply at times. - Existing cocoa bean producers in Solomon Islands should be given incentives and manufacturing programmes so they can expand and added value - chocolate, and has the option to sell to domestic market
  • 9. To Conclude q Branding - Consideration should be given to develop and promote “Single Source” brand for each of these products. To Promote the unique flavour profile of the product q Reform of commercial functions within our local marketing Authorities - CEMA - Expand the commercial functions and marketing capacity of CEMA.
