BRAINSTORMING: DESIGN OPTIONS
Option 1: Option 2: Option 3:
Design has an interchangeable base
with the flat base acting as the
functional base and the lamp bulb
attached to the other base.
Design 2 is a pocket friendly lamp
which has movable compartments
attached to the base and can be
opened sideways and the lamp can be
hinged on to the base.
Option 3 has a rotatable section which
holds the compartments and the lamp
bulb itself. This whole assembly can be
rotated 90 degrees so as to position the
light wherever you want.
DESIGN MATRIX
Design 1 and Design 3 have exactly similar matrices. So the best idea would be to combine the features and
make a new design. So the final design will have the base with compartments as from Design 1 and the top part
of the design will have a concept close to design 3 with rotational sections.
FINAL DESIGN:
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
• CREATIVE AND UNIQUE DESIGN
• USER-FRIENDLY
• COST-EFFECTIVE
• EASY TO MANUFACTURE
• EASY TO ASSEMBLE
BENEFITS
• AESTHETIC APPEAL
• WOODY FINISH TO MATCH THE INDOORS
• COMPARTMENTS ARE EASY TO OPEN
PROJECT OVERVIEW:
• Product
Desk Lamp With Shelved Compartments
• Design divided into three parts
a. Bottom Base
b. Top Base
c. Lamp Assembly
1ST COMPONENT: BOTTOM BASE
THE BOTTOM OF THE LAMP HAS TWO SECTIONS TO IT.
• BOTTOM SECTION: HAS TWO DRAWERS FOR KEEPING
• UTILITIES.
• TOP SECTION: HAS THREE SLOTS WITH DOORS. THE ONE ON
THE SIDES ARE NORMAL SHELVES WITH DOORS BUT THE
ONE IN THE MIDDLE IS A CHARGING DOCK FOR
ELECTRONICS. THE DOCK CAN BE POWEREDWHEN THE
LAMP IS ON OR BY USING THE CHARGING SLOT PROVIDED AT THE
BACK OF THE LAMP.
EXPLODED VIEW: BASE
2ND COMPONENT: TOP OF THE BASE
• THE TOP BASE SECTION HAS TWO PENCIL STANDS TO HOLD
• STATIONARY ITEMS.
• THE BASE HOLDS THE TOP PART OF THE LAMP WITH THE HELP
• OF A TRADITIONAL PILLAR LIKE STRUCTURE.
FINAL PART OF THE DESIGN:
THE TOP OF THE LAMP CONSISTS OF TWO SIDE
SHELVES WITH THE LAMP BULB IN THE MIDDLE.
THE SHELVES HERE HAVE COMPARTMENTS TO
STORE STUFFS.
