INTRODUCTION
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) take the form of cylindrical carbon molecules and have untapped
properties that make them potentially useful in a wide variety of applications in nanotechnology,
electronics, optics, and other fields of materials science. They exhibit extraordinary strength and
unique electrical properties, apart from being efficient conductors of heat. Inorganic nanotubes have
also been synthesized, by researchers intrigued by this particular field.
Manufacturing a nanotube is dependent on applied quantum chemistry, specifically, orbital
hybridization. Nanotubes are composed entirely of sp2 bonds, like the ones seen in graphite. This
bonding structure, stronger than the sp3 bonds found in diamond, provides the molecules with their
unique strength. Nanotubes naturally align themselves into ropes held together by Van der Waals
forces. Under high pressure, nanotubes can merge together, trading some sp2 bonds for sp3 bonds,
thus acquiring great possibility for producing strong, unlimited length wires through high pressure
nanotube linking.
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are allotropes of carbon with a cylindrical nanostructure. Nanotubes have
been constructed with length to diameter ratio of up to 132,000,000:1, significantly larger than for
any other material.

Camaro Research Paper
The Evolution of the Camaro
By: Landon
Camaro, a car that is easily recognizable on the streets today is probably one of the most iconic
and controversial cars that hit the streets in 1967. For over 45 years the Camaro has exceeded
expectations and often surpassed the likes of its adversaries, the challenger and the iconic
mustang. Critiques often thought that the Camaro would fall short especially to the mustang due
to the fact that it has a 3 year jump on the Camaro, but sales records and Trams Am racing titles
might mean that the Camaro is doing just fine. Even though the Camaro is still going strong for
over 45 years it hasn t been easy. Workers strikes, recalls, even ending the production of the

The Super Sports (SS) package contained engine upgrades like a 350 cubic inch V8 or a 396
cubic inch V8 which both varied in horsepower. It also included an upgraded drivetrain and
chassis air extractors that were built into the hood along with a special striping design and SS
badging around the car. There also another option that combines these two packages together
called RS/SS package. Z/28 package was originally introduced primarily for the SCAA Trans
Am Racing Series it wasn t intended to be a car sold to the public. But due to the popularity and
the amount of consumers who wanted to get there hands on GM finally gave way. The Z/28
consisted even higher performance upgrades than the SS, which included an upgraded
drivetrain, power front disc brakes, special Z/28 striping, a cowl induction hood that was
designed to feed cool air into the intake, and a Muncie M21 close ratio 4 speed manual
transmission. The Z/28 package also didn t come with air conditioning and had only one engine
option that was a 302 cubic inch V8 that was rated 290 horsepower from the factory although it
was extremely inaccurate due to the fact of street regulations it was believed to have over 300
horsepower. GM rather than spend money building a new engine from scratch decided to use
components from previous Chevrolet engines to build the 302. The two main

How the Happiest Place on Earth, Walk Disney Resort, was...
The Walt Disney World Resort was constructed in 1971. Before then, Florida was open land and
had a different economic status. The planning and construction of the Resort were completed at a
record breaking pace. The property continues to expand is now the largest single site employer in
the United States. The growth of the company has led to the expansion of the entire Central Florida
area with tremendous growth both for businesses and government. Walt Disneys initial purchase of
land caused property values to skyrocket. Governmental strategies allowed Disney to maintain
enormous control over the area while still giving incentives to state and local governments through
additional tax revenues and name recognition. Competitors have sprung up around the area, ready
to capitalize on the enormous success of the initial theme park. This consistent development
required countless employees, so home values, salaries, and income taxes have played substantial
parts of Florida s growth. Overall, Walt Disney World has allowed the Floridian economy to grow
substantially through many different avenues. Due to the expected number of visitors, substantial
infrastructure development was crucial. The property spans 47 square miles which is twice the
size of Manhattan Island in New York City. Interstate highway 4 was in the final stages of
completion and was built to serve a connection between Tampa, Orlando, and Interstate 95. US 192
also expanded to account for the traffic and volume

Satrapi s Dichotomy
Orientalism, is a school of thought based entirely the exploitation of cultural differences between
western and eastern peoples, Satrapi illustrates this strict dichotomy and the distress these
differences caused her growing up as they call into question her very cultural identity. Orientalism is
more complex than political or economic imperialism, Said articulates the peculiar relationship
between Orientand Occident as such, ...the Orient has helped to define Europe (or the West) as its
contrasting image, idea, personality, experience (2 Said). Both gain meaning from opposing the
other, any form of syncretism threatens the culture of both. Satrapi reflects on how this strict
segregation of what is European and what is Iranian confused her as a child. As a result of... Show

Whereas F. Reza, Dr. Fatemi, and H. Ashraf are only briefly introduced to the reader, Marx
appears throughout the novel and it is western ideas that most inspire her (12 13 Satrapi). In
fact, Satrapi compares Marx and God on page 13 panel 3 and comes to the conclusion that they
are not so different (13 Satrapi). This is the closest Satrapi ever comes to coexisting with both
western and eastern culture simultaneously. Most of the time she is constantly divided, as seen
on page 6 panel 1, feeling as though she must pick between modernity and European culture, or
tradition and Iranian culture (6 Satrapi). The problem is that she cannot see her Iranian culture
as compatible with modern science or philosophy, she regards her own culture as a vestige of
history. In Satrapi s early years, both Occident and Orient hold comparable importance in her life
but it is impossible for these two perceived polarities to coexist for long. The equilibrium depicted

The Meaning Of Longevity
Longevity by definition means a long duration of an individuals life or the length of ones life.
Longevity can also mean thinking about means of extending and prolonging a human life as well
as living it healthy. Everyone wants to live a long and happy life. As we all grow older we try to
find methods that will prolong our lives we tend to look into changing our life style, changing our
diet, exercise that will extend our lives, and supplements and herbal remedies.
Longevity has been thought about and sought after for centuries. It has been in the storytelling
community for as long as we have recorded and documented stories. From science fiction and
utopian novels to myths and legends. The book of Genesis talks about the Garden of Eden, it wasn
t until eve ate the apple and sinned that god put death and disease on the earth. The fountain of
youth is a well known tale of longevity, a Spanish explorer went looking for a spring that said to
be in Florida and anyone who drank from it would have youth restored to there body. The Holy
Grail is another story, it is the chalice that Jesus and his disciples drank from at the last supper.
The legend is anyone who had drank from it lived an extraordinarily long life. Gilgamesh was a
king from the Babylon who went for a quest to find eternal life. He set out to ... Show more content

Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck s film The Lives of Other s (2005) is set in East Berlin
during the socialist reign from November 1984, up until the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989. The
political context plays a significance role not only in the film s subject matter but also in its

Comparison of Moses and Odysseus
The stories of heroes have been at the axis of nearly all cultures throughout history. Each different
type of religion or culture has their own heroes or legends, each one of them having their
differences to go along with the beliefs at hand. On the other hand, each and every hero also has
their similarities, which therefore makes them the hero. The setting, events, and characters in each
and every story may change, but the characteristics of the hero remain basically the same. Each
person is usually made into a hero in a somewhat similar fashion. For example, many heroes begin
as imperfect characters, and then begin some sort of quest which leads to them becoming a leader
of what they are doing, and then the character goes through a... Show more content on

Odysseus s voyage had to be completed before saving his people, while Moses exodus and his
people s salvation were simultaneous. In either case, the journey is vital to the hero in order for him
to undergo a personal transformation into the legendary hero they became.
Moses fought a Pharaoh, the desert, his own people, and himself during his long journey to the
Promised Land. Odysseus also had a long journey home and while on that journey battled
Poseidon, the sea, his men, and himself. Not only are the stories of The Odyssey and Exodus
the similar, but the heroes, Odysseus and Moses, share many of the same attributes and
behaviors. Both, despite having murderous pasts, were chosen by their God or gods to be the
savior of their people. Each had a specific limitation that directly interfered with the completion
of their mission. And since they were helped by God or the Greek gods along the way, Moses
and Odysseus ultimately had faith that they would be successful, regardless of the obstacles
ahead. Their similarities exist on a personal level as well. Both heroes had to make great
sacrifices for the good of the whole. They each underwent a personal transformation as a result of
the trials they faced. And each learned a lesson that they passed on as a message for their people.
The hero s journey is also determined by how each story originated. The Hebrews passed down

Police Officer As A Officer
Within all police departments in the United States there is police rank. Which is a ranking of
officers in command from either highest to lowest or lowest to highest. The ranking starts with the
Chief of Police than the Deputy Chief, Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Detective, and lastly your
regular officer. The Chief of Policeis in charge of the department and everyone below him or her.
The person in command right above officers is usually a sergeant or lieutenant and this is the
officers direct boss rather than the chief of police. Having different ranking for officers is
important because those that are higher in command are the ones that are in charged and train the
new officers when they come into the police department. When training the new officers those
higher in command, tell them what is wrong and what is right and let them all how the police
department works. So it only seems right that when an officer takes part in police misconduct not
only should that officer be held responsible for the police misconduct, but his superiors as well.
However, when police misconduct takes place within law enforcement an officer in high
command is rarely held accountable for the wrongdoing that has taken place. Instead the blame is
place on the law rank officer. Whoever is in high command like the Chief of Police or Captain
should be held responsible for what has taken place within their police department. An officer that
is high in command should as well be held accountable is

Why Are Wildfires Important To Society
Have you ever stopped to wonder if wildfires truly important to society? Well after doing some
research, wildfires play an important role in the natural adaptations that occur in the Earth s
ecosystem. On the NASA Earth Observatory: Global Fire Monitoring website states that The
diversity of plant and animal life in the world s forest, prairies, and wetlands in (partly)
dependent on the effects of fire; in fact some plants can not reproduce without fire . The reason
why some plants are dependent on wildfires is because the fire breaks open the outer layer of the
seeds and invigorate germination. Fires begin vital natural process for nutrients. Rain then passes
the nutrients back into the soil restoring fertile seedbed for plants. Wildfires impact on the
ecosystem, plays a major part in forming the ecosystems by serving as an agent of restoration and

Iconoclasm In The Byzantine Empire
When researching iconoclasm during the Byzantine Empire and today s Middle East, one can
easily see the end result of the two ages is similar the destruction of valuable religious artwork.
However it is important to analyze the reasons and intent behind the destruction. By doing this, a
person can better understand the motivation for the artwork s destruction and even determine if
history should treat the two eras differently.
With respect to the Byzantine era, the reason behind the destruction of icons was a theological
debate within the Christian religion. During this time, the creation of icons was believed to be
divinely inspired by God. Iconophiles, those that like and approve of icons, were devout
Christian s who prayed at an icon because of what it represented God. However Iconoclasts, those
who work to destroy icons, were also devout Christians. Iconoclasts feared that in praying before
the icons Christians were actually worshiping the icons. They were concerned that Iconophiles
believed the icons had the ability to perform miracles. In this way the use of icons became idol
worship and was against God s commandment and must be destroyed. In fact, when ... Show more

cheap, not only because they are unpaid but also the cost of the trial itself is much less expensive
than in the Crown Court. In 1999, the Home Office Research and Planning Unit estimated the
average cost of a contested trial in the Magistrates Court at ВЈ1,500 and a guilty plea at ВЈ500. The
comparative figures for the Crown Court were ВЈ13,500 and ВЈ2,500 respectively. However, part
of this difference is due to the fact that cases in the Crown Court are more complex and therefore
likely to take longer; but even so, it is clear that the cost both to the Government and to defendants
who pay for their own lawyer is much higher in the Crown Court. Lord Bingham, the former Lord
Chief Justice, said that the justices are chosen for their qualities of fairness, judgement and
common sense, alert to the needs and concerns of the communities they serve and enabling local
issues to be determined locally by local people. And, in the eyes of the public, they have one great
advantage: that they are free of the habits of thought, speech and bearing which characterise

The Doctrine Of The Divine Command Theory
The Divine Command Theory dictates that An act is morally required just because it is
commanded by God, and immoral just because God forbids it (Shafer Landau 65). This view is
often accepted by religious people as the basis for morality; the morality of an action is determined
by whether or not it is commanded by God. However, there are multiple problems presented by this
line of thinking. One of the most common arguments against this theory is known as the Euthyphro
Dilemma, derived from Plato s account of Socrates questioning Euthyphro about the determinant of
piety, albeit in relation to the polytheistic Greek system of belief. In this account, Socrates asks if
...the gods love actions because they are pious, or are actions pious because the gods love them?
This inquiry can also obviously be applied to the modern, monotheistic interpretation of the Divine
Command Theory. As Euthyphro struggles to answer the question, Socrates details the premises
that lead to the conclusion that the gods love actions because of their piety, and not the other way
around. This refutes the Divine Command Theory, and lays out a rather logical argument that
explains the flaws in accepting it. While the argument of the Euthyphro Dilemma is apparently
logically sound, one potential objection is that it limits the nature of moralityto two distinct options,
and excludes the possibility that moral goodness is what corresponds to God s nature: God did not
arbitrarily designate morality to

Summary Of Calaveras At Escalon
Calaveras at Escalon
Time: 7 p.m.
Place: Escalon High School
Notes and numbers: Both Calaveras and Escalon picked up victories to begin the season.
Calaveras knocked off El Capitan 44 24 and Escalon defeated Enochs 14 10. In 2016, Calaveras
defeated Escalon for the first time under head coach Jason Weatherby with a 45 16 trouncing.
Since 2008, the teams have met six times with Escalon winning five of them. The average score of
a Calaveras versus Escalon game is 27.3 23.5 in favor of Escalon.
Coach Jason Weatherby s thoughts on Escalon: They are really scrappy. They aren t quite as big

Heading the programs of birth control lavish by the developed countries which according to the
Africans are only excuses to be able to control Africa, because the ratio population/ area is very

To discover and document existing organizational policies, the solution selected should be able to
automate a process of report production that covers such topics as planning and organizing for
database compliance, certification and control of database activities, risk assessment, and
investigation and disclosure of any exceptions. Having access to report templates that were built
to address SOX implementations creates an ideal situation, since such templates do not require a
great deal of setup but still have the flexibility to be customized to company needs. All database
requests must be able to be logged and a full audit trail should be easily and automatically

Dumb And Dumber Rhetorical Analysis
After performing my informative speech, I immediately felt relieved. Mainly because I finally
completed the assignment. I felt a little nervous and shaky, but I practiced so I knew I wasn t
going to mess up that majorly. I went over it several times and changed a variety of things. I
couldn t really think of any visuals except for the video. So at first I had music behind every
point I had. Each song was planned appropriately for the topic of the point. Then, though, I knew
that would be a hassle to deal with between points, especially because I was already over on my
time. I estimated that I was around seven minutes. That was only in the beginning. So after that I
apprehended I could do something from Jim Carrey s movie Dumb and Dumber. The extra gloves

Jim. The most recognizable is his acting career, but I wouldn t talk about that the whole time.
Another was his early life because countless of people don t know he s from Canada or how he

What Is Better Than College Theatre
Never in a million years would I have imagined that I would be able to identify myself as an

nothing was ever something I could say, Hey, this is me, this is what I love to do. Now a
freshman in college I m majoring in Nursing but theatre is still something that I would give a leg
and arm to do. At Butler, However, I love theatre here but it is very different then it was in high
school. High school theatre is a better working experience than collegetheatre is because the
experience is more fun, its a closer environment, greater responsibly.
When I started started high school, my friend convinced me to play softball with her. It seemed
fun so I tried out. I quit when I realized that I only made Junior Varsity which now that I think

Superflab Essay
This study is a comparison of three alternative bolus materials to Superflab in providing the
maximum dose buildup (Dmax). Superflab is a synthetic oil gel based on vinyl plastic composed
of disodecyl phthalate. The maximum dose buildup (Dmax) is when 100% of the dose is deposited
beneath a patient s skin. Alternative bolus materials are tissue equivalent materials placed on a
patient s skin surface to increase or even out the surface dose. The composition of alternative bolus
materials can include anything from wet gauze to Play Doh to rice. The purpose of this study is to
test the Dmax for various bolus materials when compared to Superflab.
Walker et al. (2005) performed this study to determine the differences in producing the maximum
dose buildup while using Play Doh, water soaked gauze, and Superflab. The researchers wanted to
determine if Play Doh and water soaked gauze were adequate alternatives to Superflab. At the
beginning they accurately measured the radiation doses to be less than 10.0 cGy. Next, they made
each bolus material 5 mm thick and then placed TLDs at the center of the beam where they placed
each bolus and irradiated them 5 times each. Then, they calculated the mean dose, standard ... Show

Yesterday I got a new neighbor. He says he is a member of the flat earth society. But he is very

that the earth is not flat. Then he will not be a member of the flat earth society anymore and he can

The earth was formed from clouds and dust which created stars and other things. The earth s

started to pull everything together and then the earth was made. Then the earth s crust was

Philosophical Understanding and a New View

Philosophy is the study of legitimacy, existence, and the manner in which things exist. Philosophy
incorporates an immense range of topics and every person, place, thing, and idea has its roots
implanted in it. Everybody has their own beliefs in life whether it s from religion, morals, or in
essence everything in general. Philosophers try to answer the unknown questions in life that
everyone is wanting to examine and have the answers to. I never even thought twice about the

The new born baby would be able to hear the noise of the people in the hospital room, feel the arms
around him, see the smiling faces, smell and taste the placenta he has been resting in for so long.
The baby without senses would not even know it exists without having senses to understand his
surroundings. Epistemology is how we gain and acquire knowledge. My empiricist epistemological
view point is that nothing in the mind was put there without the help of the senses. Everything
we know is based on learning from different people, or on our own. Rule books are not just
zapped into our heads about how to do things. Every daily task we have in life goes back in time
to the first person who thought of the idea. For example the first person to create a car, they
would not have created it if they could not see, walk or talk. The person who created the first car
would not know the long hours it takes to walk somewhere far away because they would not be
able to feel the pain of soreness the day after. They would have never been able to experiment
ways to create machinery that would make everyone s lives easier someday. I m sure he did not get
it right the first time, but he learned through experience. I believe we learn something new every
day through our senses, and we will continue to learn things through our senses. I cannot think of

The Risks And Hazards Behind Fatigue And Stress
Abstract The purpose with this research paper is to identify and understand the risks and
hazards behind fatigue and stress that each flight attendant has experienced or still experiencing,
due to lack of human factor improvements concerning, working schedule, time zone difference,
pressure and stress due to fatigue. Nearly everyone in any work position can face fatigue at
come point. Depending on the type of work and how much responsibility the employer has in
the aviation industry, the stress level increases followed by the fatigue. Stress is defined as
pressure that affects a person both physically and emotionally. The human body raises a
challenge and preparing to face tough situations with focus and strength. The stress level is
different from body to body and it also varies from time to time. However; fatigue is the
description to lack of motivation and energy both physically and mentally, which causes a
decrease in performance and alertness. Flight attendants job is one of many jobs in the aviation
industry where it is very usual to experience stress as well as fatigue, that can reduce the ability
of awareness of risks and hazards that may occur, later lead to major accidents or incidents. Crew
resource management should be practiced by all personnel regularly and applied to improve safety,
especially in such industry where many humans lives are involved daily. Aside from crew resource
management, control is very important and should be applied as a human factor

Why Do Governments Must Ensure That Their Major Cities

cities that a nation s cultural traditions are preserved and generated. I disagree totally with the

culture is made of elements that are only present in small cities or towns . If we look at any nation
American or non American. we will find that cultural traditions and customs take origin in small
cities, towns or rural areas and not in big cities. The warmth of rural areas, small cities, towns gives

My Statement Of Purpose For Electronics And Communication...
Albert Einstein once said that The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious the
fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science . This is the feeling I
experienced when I had started observing and analyzing things around me as a kid. Every query
answered urged me to know more and to broaden my horizons the first steps perhaps towards

Electronics and Communication is an industry that has changed the way we live to a large
extent. It is the industry that is going to shape our lives for many more years to come. My
decision for choosing the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering as my major was
not a hasty one, it was a field that had always fascinated me since I was a kid. The way the light
in the refrigerator automatically switches on/off as it s door is opened or closed; how the

talk to people who live at the opposite end of the world through a telephone; every small mystery
fascinated me but the answers were nor completely conceivable to me and egged me on to know

The Energy Information Administration ( 2016 )
In 2015 the United States produced an average of 9.4 million barrels of crude oil a day, a rate of
production not seen in over 45 years (EIA, 2015). In 2008 production averaged 5 million barrels
a day. This drastic increase in production can be attributable, in part, to advances in hydraulic
fracturing. According to the Energy Information Administration (2016) this controversial drilling
technology has been in use for over 6 decades, but has otherwise contributed relatively little to
total crude oil output. In 2000 23,000 hydraulic fractured wells produced 102,000 barrels of oil a
day, or 2% of the total national output. In 2015 there were 300,000 hydraulically fractured wells
producing 4.3 million barrels of oil a day, a 4,000% increase... Show more content on

A 2008 assessment by the United States Geological Survey (2013) of Bakken shale formation
determined that an estimated 3.65 billion barrels of oil were technically recoverable. A subsequent
reassessment in 2013 found the formation contained 7.4 billion barrels of undiscovered and
technically recoverable oil reserves (USGS, 2013). Nevertheless, many in the shale production
industry believe the Bakken formation may contain over 20 billion barrels of technically
recoverable oil (SAFE, 2012).
What is Hydraulic Fracturing? Certain geological formations may contain deposits of natural gas
and petroleum; however, these formations generally have extremely low permeability
(Earthworks (EW), 2016). Hydraulic fracturing is process that increases the permeability of
these rock formations, making the fossil fuels contained within more extractable (EW, 2016).
Although hydraulic fracturing has been in use for over 60 years, only recently has it gained
widespread use. Fracking begins by drilling a well and inserting a steel pipe known as a casing.
The casing contains perforations within a target zone where there is assumed to be natural gas or
oil supplies (EW, 2016). Once the casing is in position fracturing fluid is pumped into the casing,
and injected into the well through the perforations at the target zone (EW, 2016). The rock
formation absorbs the fluid until it becomes saturated, at which point pressure begins to build in the
well, causing

A Short Note On Diabetes And Its Effect On The Patient...
Gout is a condition of the joint that causes the patient severe pain. It is characterized by an
increase of uric acid in the blood that lasts for some time. This elevation of uric acid in the blood
is called hyperuricemia. In normal development, uric acid is chemical that is produced in the body.
This chemical is created when the body breaks down substances called purines. Normally, uric acid
dissolves in the blood and is excreted by the kidneys and passes through the urine. If the patient s
body produces an excess of uric acid or doesn t remove enough if it, they can get sick. However, not

one that is suitable for processing. This increases the price that processing sector has to pay.
With the growth of processing sector a market for B and C grade fruits and vegetables will be
created thus paving the way for grading that would fetch higher price for table purpose A grade
produce. This will also boost the varietal improvement programme which is more suitable for
processing sector.

Solomon Asch Conformity Essay
1.1In 1951, Solomon Asch s conformity experiment is now regarded as a classic experiment in
social psychology, where the participants would conform to the behaviour of others in an
unambiguous situation. Asch told naive participants were told they were participating in a simple
vision test . The original experiment was conducted with 123 American male participants. Aim: To
investigate whether perceived group pressure by an incorrect majority can conform an individual
in an unambiguous experimental set up. Procedure: In a controlled lab setting, using a line
judgment task, Asch placed a naive participant in a room with 6 or 7 confederates who were
advised to give unanimous wrong answers within two white cards. The confederates had approved...

Furthermore, there is a high degree of control ensuring that a cause effect relationship can be
recognised between variables. However, the use of the laboratory experiment can be criticised
for producing results that lack in ecological validity. This is because the research took place in
an artificial and controlled environment which didn t produce results that would be reflective to
other real life situations of conformity. There are also issues regarding this study as the study
was only carried out with male students who all belonged to the same aged group as a result the
sample was gender bias and therefore the results cannot be generalised for females or older groups
of people. The study hence lacks population validity. In addition, there are ethical issues regarding
the study as the participants were deceived about the purpose of the experiment and it is possible
that the participants were exposed to embarrassing procedures when the real reason of the study
was revealed which could possibly put them through some form of emotional

Social Research Thesis
My scope of location covers a narrow sliver of Den Haag and small pockets of countryside
communities. Additionally, this research was conducted in a short period of only three and a half
months. Limiting my research to barely scratch the surface and curbing me from delving deeper in
understanding the urban community of Den Haag. Additionally, the time with my participants was
limited. Spending between a few minutes to 3 hours in some cases with my participants. Finally, I
believe speaking and at the very least, understanding the Dutch language would have been
especially helpful. Especially so while sitting in at corporate meetings, government conferences and
on the sidewalk level. This limitation leads me to rely heavily on more... Show more content on

The devastation caused was and is not an isolated occurrence. The impact of climate change on the
ecosystem and communities is becoming more frequent and leaving human and environmental
casualties behind. It is during Hurricane Sandy where I observed and experienced firsthand the
selfless efforts of, what moments earlier were strangers, to individuals coming together as a
community for a common purpose in helping one another. While the nation state searched for loop
holes and invented reasons justifying their limited / lack of involvement. It s this reason why I
argue the responsibility of the future and sustainability of the city is in the hands of its
community (including its local government). It is inhumane to treat this planet with such
disregard, we must see that we are as much connected to her as she is to us and it is our
responsibility and obligation to protect where we learn and love, work and sleep, pray and play,
grow and eat, and finally die (Barber 2013, 13). Granted, due to financial challenges, there are
limitations to Den Haag 2040 climate neutral initiative, however based on my research, this is not
stopping nor discouraging the community and campaigns like Den Haag Fossielvrij from their
continued fight for their city and the planet. The challenge is upon us. What is the bottom line
here? The bottom line is that desperate times call for despite unity make no mistake, we are in
desperate times and the invaluable

Atheism Is Not A Religion, A Worldview Or A Belief System
There have been numerous debates between the religious and atheists, and all seem to end with
the same conclusion: neither side changed at all. Atheism is defined as the rejection of the God
hypothesis. Atheism is not a religion, a worldview or a belief system; they are just denying
religious claims that fail to provide evidence. Christians follow the teachings of Jesus Christ written
in the bible. They believe god created the earthin seven days and that he will soon send his son,
Jesus to earth to take the faithful to heaven. Deep analyzation of evolution, creationism, and the
bible will surely reveal the truth. Evolution, is basically decent with modification , this applies to
microevolution and macroevolution. (www.evolution.berkeley.edu) Evolution, when on a smaller
scale is defined as microevolution; an example would be the house sparrows. Depending on the
location the sparrows have different characteristics, some are larger and heavier to protect from
the cold while others are lighter to withstand heat. There is so much evidence for microevolution
it s almost impossible to deny. Microevolution is observable because of the short timespan
required for it to take place. The controversy begins when you get into macroevolution which is
evolution on a much bigger scale. Usually referring to a change in species, this cannot be observed
because it takes longer than one lifespan to detect. We are able to observe small modifications; it
should be common sense that over

African American Stigmas
Introduction
African American young men are infected with HIV at an alarmingly high rate in comparison to
other races. The negative stigmas that is attached to having HIV in the black community, especially
for men can be extremely detrimental and harmful to their overall health. One stigma that was
attached to having HIV was death, death was at one time believed to be imminent, and now HIV is
about restructuring their lives to face the future (Buseh, Kelber, Stevens Park, 2008, p.409), yet
they still battle other stigmas surrounded around HIV.
HIV/ AIDS affect African Americans at a higher rate than any other race (White, Asian, and
Hispanic). With African Americans making up approximately 13 percent of the U.S. population, in
2014, they made up almost half of all new HIV/AIDS cases; 44 percent. African Americanmen
accounted for 73 percent of new HIV/AIDS cases, and of that 43 percent of African American men
were heterosexual (CDC 2014). Since heterosexual African American men don t equate to the
larger population of HIV cases as compared to African American men who have sex with men,
these heterosexual men are virtually invisible in the theoretical and empirical psychological HIV
/AIDS literature (Bowleg, 2004, p.166).

According to Galvan et al., (2008) for African Americans having a support from friends and
family is a way to decrease their perception of HIV related stigma, with this support they don t
feel isolated, judged, or internalizing these stigmas. Organizations that target heterosexual HIV
men as a group, would also help move away from the idea that HIV is a gay or drug abuser

the United States. Although that childhood dream quickly diferred, as a college freshman at the
age of 19, I would experience an event that may someday be written down in history books

The Themes Of St. Augustine s Confessions By Saint Augustine
Confessions
In the book Confessions by Saint Augustine, there are several themes throughout that describes
Augustine s thoughts and opinions of how to live responsibly. Augustine believes that God is the
reason for everything good that happens to one s life, which you are to praise him for. Augustine
goes through some tough situations, which he uses his life as a standard way of living or an
example of what others go through in their lifetime. He plainly states on several occasions that in
everything you do needs to be for the glory of God. This essay will outline the main themes
referred in the passage of Book X, which are find God later in one s life, seeking pleasure in
worldly things, and understanding where the beauty of the world comes from. Also, the essay
will analyze his worldview that you shouldn t find pleasure in worldly possessions and to praise
God, and how it helps others live or have a responsible life.
There are several themes within the passage that shows Augustine s worldview. For example, in
the first line of the passage, he understands the concept of loving God later in life: I have learnt to
love you late (Conf. X.27). This quote suggests that Augustine is now able to see why is mother
was so skeptical in giving him is baptism early in his childhood. He commits to sin on numerous
occasions, but comes back to find God again. In Book II, Augustine s actions are paralleled with
the prodigal son: I strayed still farther from you and you did not restrain me.
I was tossed and spilled, floundering in the broiling sea of my fornication, and you said no word
(Conf. II.1). Augustine acted just as the prodigal son did by straying from God and being taken
over by worldly pleasures. As in the story, Augustine does come back to God and devotes himself
to Him more than ever. It can be reasonably inferred that God rejoices more in the people who were
lost and then found their salvation than to always be faithful towards Him. This suggests that God
wants people to try and do it on their own, making mistakes after mistakes, and then hitting rock
bottom to perhaps humble one in order to get their full attention to be placed on Him; this is what a
responsible self looks like. In this section, the theme

Australian Immigration Essay
Australia has a rich migration history starting with the first migrants being convicts transported
from Britain between 1788 and 1840. Free immigrants began arriving in the 1790 s (Walsh: 2001)
The Industrial revolution which caused wide spread poverty and unemployment in Britain, as well
as the demand for workers in the wool industry in Australiaenticed more free settlers to Australia,
followed by the Gold rush in the 1850 s of which the largest group of immigrants were the Chinese.
The bringing in of Polynesian labourers to work in the sugar plantations of Queensland also
contributed to the population numbers swell. From 1851 to 1861 just over 600,000 people had

Australia today has two programs of immigration one the migration policy which is seen as
economically motivated which has two main components family and skill. The second is the
humanitarian program which has three parts refugees, special humanitarian and special assistance.
(Holmes et al 2007) As part of the humanitarian program refugees constitute a specific component of
Australia s humanitarian program.
Article 1A of the Refugees Convention defines a refugee as:
A person who has well founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality,
membership of a certain group or political opinion, is outside the country of their nationality and is
unable or owing to such fear is unwilling to avail themselves of the protection of that country or
who not having a nationality and being outside the country of their former habitual residence as a
result of such events, is unable or owing to such fear, is unwilling to return to it. (United Nations
High Commission for Refugees(UNCHR) 1951)
Under Australian and international law, a person is permitted to enter Australia for the purpose of
seeking asylum regardless of whether they arrive by boat or plane and thus it is entirely incorrect

The Importance Of School Dress Codes
An Atlanta school board is set to announce in January its decision on the petition of two 5th
grade students to change the school s dress code. The girls wanted to be allowed to wear
skintight leggings without any skirt or shorts on top of the leggings. Similar debates are taking
place in other schools across the US as students seek more liberal changes to their schools dress
codes. The push is in response to recent changes made by some school boards, similar to public
schools in Evanston, Illinois, which allowed students to wear anything, but the genitalia and the
nipple of the breast must be covered, Psychology Today reported. Liberal dress code The result
of the liberal dress code is many female students go to school wearing skintight leggings and a
tight top that starts just above the breasts and ends above the belly button. It has been a clothing
trend in more than 400 schools the past 16 years. The acceptance of such types of apparel for
school has become so common when at the turn of the millennium, it would be unusual for a
female teenager to attend class in a very short skirt and thin material made of mesh for her top,
with undergarments visible under the mesh. Studies show that when girls frequently wear skintight
leggings or a swimsuit (outside the pool), she is engaged in self objectification. The girl sees
herself as an object of display for others. The more the public the setting is when she wears those
flimsy clothing, the more likely that

Actions And Characters In A Separate Peace By John Knowles
In the novel, A Separate Peace by John Knowles, the seasons develop actions and characters in
the story. The story takes place at an all boys boarding school in New Hampshire during World
War II based off of the author s previous experiences at a boarding school. The two main characters,
Finny and Gene, experience character development alongside different seasons. In written works,
seasons are commonly used to symbolically represent a change in the character s personalities. The
nature or setting of the story is used to specifically evolve Finny and Gene in seasons such as the
summer, autumn, and winter. Each season change also generates an entirely different mood. In the
summertime, the atmosphere is very carefree and cheerful. The... Show more content on

This change is shown in A Separate Peacewhen the residing feelings of happiness fade to
confusion and tragedy. As the summer session comes to an end, Finny falls from a tree and
shatters his leg. Gene witnesses this and affirms Finny, his balance gone, swung his head around
to look at me for an instant with extreme interest, and then he tumbled sideways, broke through
the little branches below and hit the bank... (Knowles 52). This abnormal mistake in Finny s
behavior was caused by Gene s recently developed feelings of resentment towards his friend.
Gene thinks Finny had deliberately set out to wreck my studies (Knowles 45). Gene purposely
jounced the limb Finny was standing on due to his rash feelings of animosity. These feelings are
conveniently aligned with the season shift by the author to add character development and change,
as well as symbolism and depth in his writing. Gene s shift from a trusting, willing friend to a
skeptical, apprehensive enemy shows how the season of fall changes the characters in this novel. In
final analysis, autumn brings about a negative change in the boy s psyche and forces them to face
unpleasant realities and come to terms with their friendship. References to winter in literature may
refer to despair, anguish and death. During winter, the reality of war is brought to light to the
students at Devon. Many students opt to join the war instead of finishing their

America s Perception Of The Middle East
A Turning point in America s Perception of the Middle East
The Iranian nuclear program has been one of the most challenging issues in the world for more
than a decade. The struggle was mainly between Iran and six of the world s most powerful
countries, which included China, the U.S.A, the U.K, France, Germany and Russia. What s really
worth noting is that this controversy was not solely about Iran s willingness to have a nuclear
program, which to its own merits was completely peaceful, but it was about who got to have more
influence and control in the Middle East as a whole. Both sides of the conflict took measures to
further their goals. Iran put whatever resources needed into developing its nuclear program, and the
world s powers (P5+1) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most important reasons as to why President Obama was reelected was that the way he
foresaw America s strategies and goals in the Middle East was totally different from the way his
predecessors did. It was right at that time that Iran and the U.S.A, along with the other 5 major
powers, decided to have a more serious set of negotiations, which took almost two years and
eventually ended last June with a mutual agreement between all sides.
After the striking of this deal, we encountered a plethora of arguments both in favor and against
this deal, in Iran and in the West, mainly in America. However, only a few people such as the
New York columnist, Thomas L. Friedman, perceived this deal as something more than a
nuclear agreement. In his article Pros and Cons of the nuclear deal with Iran to which I have
provided an online link at the end of this essay, Friedman brings us to the realization that this
deal can potentially serve as a turning point for America and its allies in their strategic approach
to the Middle East, especially Iran. I can think of many good reasons to go ahead with the nuclear
deal with Iran, and I can think of just as many reasons not to. So, if you re confused, let me see if I
can confuse you even more. Although Friedman starts off his analytical article with such
ambiguous comment as to whether this deal is good or not, but my understanding of his writing as
a whole is that he

False Memory In The Film Total Recall
Is it possible to implant a memory into someone s mind? When it comes to memory being
implanted to an individual mind I think that is the term false memories comes in. False memory is
the variation between memory and imagination which becomes obscured, and events that never
actually happened but become sewn into an individual memoryas real events. This individual then
believe that the memory is real and most can even describe these false memories vividly as if
they really experience them. For example in the movie Total Recall , Arnold Schwarzenegger
plays an inattentive construction worker in the year 2084 name Douglas. Douglas visits a
company named Recall, which plants false memories into people s brains, in order for individual s
to experience the thrill of Mars without having to travel there. In the movie Arnold believes that the
memories of mars is real but later discover that his entire life is actually a false memory and that
everything was that he thought was real was just implanted into his mind .... Show more content on

Human memory is highly subjective to misconception due to the high quantity of outside
influences that affect what remember and how we remember it. There has been a time where it
has been shown that outside influences from our family such as family resentment or other
occurrences might be the cause of false memories being implanted into what we actually believe.
False memories can be implanted in individual s minds that do not consider themselves powerless
or weak and uncritical. This shows how weak a person mind can be impacted by someone feeding
them false information or even just asking them a question about their past. For example, most
psychiatrists are able to bring up false memories inside adults who thought that they had maybe
suppressed of these thoughts. A simple question like do you remember the time when your mom

  • 2. The Effect Of Carbon Nanotubes On Other Fields Of... 1INTRODUCTION 1 2HISTORY2 3 DISCOVERY 3 4 CLASSIFICATION OF CNT5 5PROPERTIES OF CNT7 6ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES 8 7APPLICATIONS8 8FIELD EMISSION 9 9CONCLUSION10 10REFERENCES10 INTRODUCTION Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) take the form of cylindrical carbon molecules and have untapped properties that make them potentially useful in a wide variety of applications in nanotechnology, electronics, optics, and other fields of materials science. They exhibit extraordinary strength and unique electrical properties, apart from being efficient conductors of heat. Inorganic nanotubes have also been synthesized, by researchers intrigued by this particular field. Manufacturing a nanotube is dependent on applied quantum chemistry, specifically, orbital hybridization. Nanotubes are composed entirely of sp2 bonds, like the ones seen in graphite. This bonding structure, stronger than the sp3 bonds found in diamond, provides the molecules with their unique strength. Nanotubes naturally align themselves into ropes held together by Van der Waals forces. Under high pressure, nanotubes can merge together, trading some sp2 bonds for sp3 bonds, thus acquiring great possibility for producing strong, unlimited length wires through high pressure nanotube linking. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are allotropes of carbon with a cylindrical nanostructure. Nanotubes have been constructed with length to diameter ratio of up to 132,000,000:1, significantly larger than for any other material. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Camaro Research Paper The Evolution of the Camaro By: Landon Camaro, a car that is easily recognizable on the streets today is probably one of the most iconic and controversial cars that hit the streets in 1967. For over 45 years the Camaro has exceeded expectations and often surpassed the likes of its adversaries, the challenger and the iconic mustang. Critiques often thought that the Camaro would fall short especially to the mustang due to the fact that it has a 3 year jump on the Camaro, but sales records and Trams Am racing titles might mean that the Camaro is doing just fine. Even though the Camaro is still going strong for over 45 years it hasn t been easy. Workers strikes, recalls, even ending the production of the Camaro were just a few of the Camaro s ... There also another option that combines these two packages together called RS/SS package. Z/28 package was originally introduced primarily for the SCAA Trans Am Racing Series it wasn t intended to be a car sold to the public. But due to the popularity and the amount of consumers who wanted to get there hands on GM finally gave way. The Z/28 consisted even higher performance upgrades than the SS, which included an upgraded drivetrain, power front disc brakes, special Z/28 striping, a cowl induction hood that was designed to feed cool air into the intake, and a Muncie M21 close ratio 4 speed manual transmission. The Z/28 package also didn t come with air conditioning and had only one engine option that was a 302 cubic inch V8 that was rated 290 horsepower from the factory although it was extremely inaccurate due to the fact of street regulations it was believed to have over 300 horsepower. • 7. How the Happiest Place on Earth, Walk Disney Resort, was... The Walt Disney World Resort was constructed in 1971. Before then, Florida was open land and had a different economic status. The planning and construction of the Resort were completed at a record breaking pace. The property continues to expand is now the largest single site employer in the United States. The growth of the company has led to the expansion of the entire Central Florida area with tremendous growth both for businesses and government. Walt Disneys initial purchase of land caused property values to skyrocket. Governmental strategies allowed Disney to maintain enormous control over the area while still giving incentives to state and local governments through additional tax revenues and name recognition. Competitors have sprung up around the area, ready to capitalize on the enormous success of the initial theme park. This consistent development required countless employees, so home values, salaries, and income taxes have played substantial parts of Florida s growth. Overall, Walt Disney World has allowed the Floridian economy to grow substantially through many different avenues. Due to the expected number of visitors, substantial infrastructure development was crucial. The property spans 47 square miles which is twice the size of Manhattan Island in New York City. Interstate highway 4 was in the final stages of completion and was built to serve a connection between Tampa, Orlando, and Interstate 95. This is the closest Satrapi ever comes to coexisting with both western and eastern culture simultaneously. Most of the time she is constantly divided, as seen on page 6 panel 1, feeling as though she must pick between modernity and European culture, or tradition and Iranian culture (6 Satrapi). The problem is that she cannot see her Iranian culture as compatible with modern science or philosophy, she regards her own culture as a vestige of history. Each different type of religion or culture has their own heroes or legends, each one of them having their differences to go along with the beliefs at hand. On the other hand, each and every hero also has their similarities, which therefore makes them the hero. The setting, events, and characters in each and every story may change, but the characteristics of the hero remain basically the same. Each person is usually made into a hero in a somewhat similar fashion. For example, many heroes begin as imperfect characters, and then begin some sort of quest which leads to them becoming a leader of what they are doing, and then the character goes through a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Odysseus s voyage had to be completed before saving his people, while Moses exodus and his people s salvation were simultaneous. In either case, the journey is vital to the hero in order for him to undergo a personal transformation into the legendary hero they became. Moses fought a Pharaoh, the desert, his own people, and himself during his long journey to the Promised Land. Odysseus also had a long journey home and while on that journey battled Poseidon, the sea, his men, and himself. Not only are the stories of The Odyssey and Exodus the similar, but the heroes, Odysseus and Moses, share many of the same attributes and behaviors. Both, despite having murderous pasts, were chosen by their God or gods to be the savior of their people. Each had a specific limitation that directly interfered with the completion of their mission. And since they were helped by God or the Greek gods along the way, Moses and Odysseus ultimately had faith that they would be successful, regardless of the obstacles ahead. • 16. Police Officer As A Officer Within all police departments in the United States there is police rank. Which is a ranking of officers in command from either highest to lowest or lowest to highest. The ranking starts with the Chief of Police than the Deputy Chief, Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Detective, and lastly your regular officer. The Chief of Policeis in charge of the department and everyone below him or her. The person in command right above officers is usually a sergeant or lieutenant and this is the officers direct boss rather than the chief of police. Having different ranking for officers is important because those that are higher in command are the ones that are in charged and train the new officers when they come into the police department. When training the new officers those higher in command, tell them what is wrong and what is right and let them all how the police department works. So it only seems right that when an officer takes part in police misconduct not only should that officer be held responsible for the police misconduct, but his superiors as well. However, when police misconduct takes place within law enforcement an officer in high command is rarely held accountable for the wrongdoing that has taken place. Instead the blame is place on the law rank officer. Whoever is in high command like the Chief of Police or Captain should be held responsible for what has taken place within their police department. Well after doing some research, wildfires play an important role in the natural adaptations that occur in the Earth s ecosystem. On the NASA Earth Observatory: Global Fire Monitoring website states that The diversity of plant and animal life in the world s forest, prairies, and wetlands in (partly) dependent on the effects of fire; in fact some plants can not reproduce without fire . The reason why some plants are dependent on wildfires is because the fire breaks open the outer layer of the seeds and invigorate germination. Fires begin vital natural process for nutrients. Rain then passes the nutrients back into the soil restoring fertile seedbed for plants. Iconoclasm In The Byzantine Empire When researching iconoclasm during the Byzantine Empire and today s Middle East, one can easily see the end result of the two ages is similar the destruction of valuable religious artwork. However it is important to analyze the reasons and intent behind the destruction. By doing this, a person can better understand the motivation for the artwork s destruction and even determine if history should treat the two eras differently. With respect to the Byzantine era, the reason behind the destruction of icons was a theological debate within the Christian religion. During this time, the creation of icons was believed to be divinely inspired by God. Iconophiles, those that like and approve of icons, were devout Christian s who prayed at an icon because of what it represented God. However Iconoclasts, those who work to destroy icons, were also devout Christians. Iconoclasts feared that in praying before the icons Christians were actually worshiping the icons. In 1999, the Home Office Research and Planning Unit estimated the average cost of a contested trial in the Magistrates Court at ВЈ1,500 and a guilty plea at ВЈ500. The comparative figures for the Crown Court were ВЈ13,500 and ВЈ2,500 respectively. • 24. The Doctrine Of The Divine Command Theory The Divine Command Theory dictates that An act is morally required just because it is commanded by God, and immoral just because God forbids it (Shafer Landau 65). This view is often accepted by religious people as the basis for morality; the morality of an action is determined by whether or not it is commanded by God. However, there are multiple problems presented by this line of thinking. One of the most common arguments against this theory is known as the Euthyphro Dilemma, derived from Plato s account of Socrates questioning Euthyphro about the determinant of piety, albeit in relation to the polytheistic Greek system of belief. In this account, Socrates asks if ...the gods love actions because they are pious, or are actions pious because the gods love them? This inquiry can also obviously be applied to the modern, monotheistic interpretation of the Divine Command Theory. As Euthyphro struggles to answer the question, Socrates details the premises that lead to the conclusion that the gods love actions because of their piety, and not the other way around. This refutes the Divine Command Theory, and lays out a rather logical argument that explains the flaws in accepting it. While the argument of the Euthyphro Dilemma is apparently logically sound, one potential objection is that it limits the nature of moralityto two distinct options, and excludes the possibility that moral goodness is what corresponds to God s nature: God did not arbitrarily designate morality to ... The Energy Information Administration ( 2016 ) In 2015 the United States produced an average of 9.4 million barrels of crude oil a day, a rate of production not seen in over 45 years (EIA, 2015). In 2008 production averaged 5 million barrels a day. This drastic increase in production can be attributable, in part, to advances in hydraulic fracturing. According to the Energy Information Administration (2016) this controversial drilling technology has been in use for over 6 decades, but has otherwise contributed relatively little to total crude oil output. In 2000 23,000 hydraulic fractured wells produced 102,000 barrels of oil a day, or 2% of the total national output. In 2015 there were 300,000 hydraulically fractured wells producing 4.3 million barrels of oil a day, a 4,000% increase... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A 2008 assessment by the United States Geological Survey (2013) of Bakken shale formation determined that an estimated 3.65 billion barrels of oil were technically recoverable. A subsequent reassessment in 2013 found the formation contained 7.4 billion barrels of undiscovered and technically recoverable oil reserves (USGS, 2013). Nevertheless, many in the shale production industry believe the Bakken formation may contain over 20 billion barrels of technically recoverable oil (SAFE, 2012). What is Hydraulic Fracturing? Certain geological formations may contain deposits of natural gas and petroleum; however, these formations generally have extremely low permeability (Earthworks (EW), 2016). Hydraulic fracturing is process that increases the permeability of these rock formations, making the fossil fuels contained within more extractable (EW, 2016). Although hydraulic fracturing has been in use for over 60 years, only recently has it gained widespread use. Fracking begins by drilling a well and inserting a steel pipe known as a casing. The casing contains perforations within a target zone where there is assumed to be natural gas or oil supplies (EW, 2016). Once the casing is in position fracturing fluid is pumped into the casing, and injected into the well through the perforations at the target zone (EW, 2016). The rock formation absorbs the fluid until it becomes saturated, at which point pressure begins to build in the well, causing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is characterized by an increase of uric acid in the blood that lasts for some time. This elevation of uric acid in the blood is called hyperuricemia. In normal development, uric acid is chemical that is produced in the body. This chemical is created when the body breaks down substances called purines. Normally, uric acid dissolves in the blood and is excreted by the kidneys and passes through the urine. If the patient s body produces an excess of uric acid or doesn t remove enough if it, they can get sick. Atheism Is Not A Religion, A Worldview Or A Belief System There have been numerous debates between the religious and atheists, and all seem to end with the same conclusion: neither side changed at all. Atheism is defined as the rejection of the God hypothesis. Atheism is not a religion, a worldview or a belief system; they are just denying religious claims that fail to provide evidence. Christians follow the teachings of Jesus Christ written in the bible. They believe god created the earthin seven days and that he will soon send his son, Jesus to earth to take the faithful to heaven. Deep analyzation of evolution, creationism, and the bible will surely reveal the truth. Evolution, is basically decent with modification , this applies to microevolution and macroevolution. Depending on the location the sparrows have different characteristics, some are larger and heavier to protect from the cold while others are lighter to withstand heat. There is so much evidence for microevolution it s almost impossible to deny. Microevolution is observable because of the short timespan required for it to take place. The controversy begins when you get into macroevolution which is evolution on a much bigger scale. Usually referring to a change in species, this cannot be observed because it takes longer than one lifespan to detect. HIV/ AIDS affect African Americans at a higher rate than any other race (White, Asian, and Hispanic). With African Americans making up approximately 13 percent of the U.S. population, in 2014, they made up almost half of all new HIV/AIDS cases; 44 percent. African Americanmen accounted for 73 percent of new HIV/AIDS cases, and of that 43 percent of African American men were heterosexual (CDC 2014). Since heterosexual African American men don t equate to the larger population of HIV cases as compared to African American men who have sex with men, these heterosexual men are virtually invisible in the theoretical and empirical psychological HIV /AIDS literature (Bowleg, 2004, p.166). • 47. The Themes Of St. Augustine s Confessions By Saint Augustine Confessions In the book Confessions by Saint Augustine, there are several themes throughout that describes Augustine s thoughts and opinions of how to live responsibly. Augustine believes that God is the reason for everything good that happens to one s life, which you are to praise him for. Augustine goes through some tough situations, which he uses his life as a standard way of living or an example of what others go through in their lifetime. He plainly states on several occasions that in everything you do needs to be for the glory of God. This essay will outline the main themes referred in the passage of Book X, which are find God later in one s life, seeking pleasure in worldly things, and understanding where the beauty of the world comes from. Also, the essay will analyze his worldview that you shouldn t find pleasure in worldly possessions and to praise God, and how it helps others live or have a responsible life. There are several themes within the passage that shows Augustine s worldview. For example, in the first line of the passage, he understands the concept of loving God later in life: I have learnt to love you late (Conf. X.27). This quote suggests that Augustine is now able to see why is mother was so skeptical in giving him is baptism early in his childhood. He commits to sin on numerous occasions, but comes back to find God again. In Book II, Augustine s actions are paralleled with the prodigal son: I strayed still farther from you and you did not restrain me. I was tossed and spilled, floundering in the broiling sea of my fornication, and you said no word (Conf. II.1). Augustine acted just as the prodigal son did by straying from God and being taken over by worldly pleasures. As in the story, Augustine does come back to God and devotes himself to Him more than ever. It can be reasonably inferred that God rejoices more in the people who were lost and then found their salvation than to always be faithful towards Him. This suggests that God wants people to try and do it on their own, making mistakes after mistakes, and then hitting rock bottom to perhaps humble one in order to get their full attention to be placed on Him; this is what a responsible self looks like. The girls wanted to be allowed to wear skintight leggings without any skirt or shorts on top of the leggings. The push is in response to recent changes made by some school boards, similar to public schools in Evanston, Illinois, which allowed students to wear anything, but the genitalia and the nipple of the breast must be covered, Psychology Today reported. Liberal dress code The result of the liberal dress code is many female students go to school wearing skintight leggings and a tight top that starts just above the breasts and ends above the belly button. It has been a clothing trend in more than 400 schools the past 16 years. The acceptance of such types of apparel for school has become so common when at the turn of the millennium, it would be unusual for a female teenager to attend class in a very short skirt and thin material made of mesh for her top, with undergarments visible under the mesh. When it comes to memory being implanted to an individual mind I think that is the term false memories comes in. False memory is the variation between memory and imagination which becomes obscured, and events that never actually happened but become sewn into an individual memoryas real events. Douglas visits a company named Recall, which plants false memories into people s brains, in order for individual s to experience the thrill of Mars without having to travel there.
