Social Problems in Society
Social issues, refers to any undesirable condition
that is opposed either by the whole society or by
a section of the society. It is an unwanted social
condition, often objectionable, the continuance
of which is harmful for the society.
Causes of Social Problems
• The main causes of social problems are:
• Corruption
• Unemployment.
• Poverty. (Absolute Poverty and Relative Poverty)
• Rapid population growth.
• Urbanization.
• Lack of education.
• Superstitious beliefs.
• Gender discrimination.
• Caste discrimination.
Solutions for the Social Problems
• Corruption: It is a major crime in the
society, government have to provide equal
opportunities to all the citizens, there
should be savior punishment for this
crime.
• Poverty-By providing education, skill
training and job opportunities in a society.

• Unemployment-Providing job-oriented
education, training to the people by
Government to solve the problem of
unemployment.
• Rapid Population: Government need to
provide proper awareness regarding
population , its consequences , benefits of
small family etc.
• Urbanization: Urban places become over
populated today, people are migrating from
rural place to urban place for the
opportunities, if the government provide
employment opportunities in rural area then
this urbanization problem won’t be there.
• Lack of Education: It is a major problem of
the society, government need to provide good
education facility for all the citizens, with
scholarships.
• Superstitious beliefs: People have
superstitious beliefs due to lack of education and
knowledge, if they get proper awareness and
knowledge there is a possibility to reduce such
beliefs.
• Gender discrimination: Because of gender
discrimination there is no proper contribution
towards development, so the government need
to provide equal opportunities and equal pay for
equal work for both the gender.
• Caste discrimination: It was
major problem in India, upper
caste people were getting all the
benefits, respect and Importance,
now government has started
reservation system for all the
other castes to eliminate caste
discrimination.
• A social issue is something of real
concern that affects a certain group of
people. Social issues are not caused
by a single person; it is the result of
various happenings that are beyond a
person's control. The term “social
problem” is usually taken to refer
to social conditions that disrupt or
damage society—crime, racism, etc.
