  1. Business oriented social networking site. Over 250 million users. About 80% of users are 35 years+. About 50% of users have salaries of more than $100,000. Use LinkedIn to: Recommend others, join targeted groups, job postings, do market research, add your company profiles, optimize your search ranking, grow your network. How many have a personal/business page? What to include: personal profile should have “summary”, “experience”, “education”, “additional info: interest, personal details”, “honors/awards” & “volunteer”. Did you know you can also include: links to presentations, videos, published works? Business profile should have: info about your business, website, industry, type, headquarters, company size. 2. Why should you care about your profile? Profiles that have incomplete info or fails to communicate a “unique value proposition” are poorly optimized to take advantage of LinkedIn. All of us make “snap judgments” in the first few seconds of meeting someone – first impressions. People are looking for anything to distinguish you from the pack – gives more weight & influence If you have ever “checkup” on someone via LinkedIn before you’ve met them, you can be assured others are doing the same to you. 3. Use keywords & phrases in your profile (job descriptions, summary sections, etc) to optimize for search.
